The stand might not look the best., but I am under the impression it was the 1st 3 story stand. The plan was to build this around the whole ground, but the stand was very expensive and put the club in debt forcing the sale of the 1970 team, and then subsequently quarter of a century of under-performing.
I think the new owners don't want to spend too much on stadium because of their intention to rebuild or renovate in the near future. The new owners actually repainted and tidied up a bit of it, but especially what was seen on TV. Great video
Watched about 5 of these stadium tours and not one of them mention about Peter osgood the king of Stamford bridge ashes being under the penalty spot in front of the shed end !!
Most of what you see at Stamford Bridge is Ken Bates vanity project … he didn’t want to build a big stadium… he wanted hotels, restaurants, bars and gymnasiums. It was almost impossible to expand after that as Chelsea village behind the Shed End is part owned by homeowners. There is also the issue of railways on either side of the ground and the armed services veterans living behind the West Stand. I am unsure why RA didn’t want to modernise some of the current exterior…obviously spent most of his money on the players, training ground and divorces
I don't think FA Cup Finals were played at Selhurst Park, but Crystal Palace Park. The yellow socks were change kit. Famous because of the 1970 Cup Final where Leeds had all white.
Hey Ry, Great tour again…. Some Chelsea History, Ted Drake who was famous as an Arsenal player shaped the current crest as he discarded the Pensioner crest and replaced with The crest you saw on The Matthew Harding stand which is known as The Lion Rampant Regardant crest. Ted Drake was CFC Manager when they won Their First League Title in 1955. Chelsea Founder Gus Mears is buried a stones throw from Stamford Bridge, behind The Matthew Harding Stand at Brompton Cemetery. Thanks for making and posting. Looking forward to the next video.
Another cracking video buddy, very balanced and professionally edited if I may say so. Love this music thrown in two, keep up the good work. Waiting for the Amex tour, which I'm sure you will mention the famous Hereford game. Brighton certainly acknowledge it and its importance in their history.
Much appreciated as always mate, coincidentally I was looking at the dates for the Brighton tour - think I'm gonna do it in a couple weeks - but as you've mentioned I wanna do a bit of research for this one and tie it into that game in 97 :)
Good vid mate. As a chelsea fan yes the ground is looking old but there is some nice touches. Hopefully a rebuild soon. Museum and Trophy room certainly are positives. 👍👍
Big 6, coming from a MU fan, it's understandable! Chelsea are no longer in the Big 4? Liverpool, ManCity, Chelsea and Arsenal. Where are MU, I don't see them in the top half of the table! Remember we were European and World Champions only 3 years ago?
Leeds fan here, so Chelsea are our rivals (next to you 😂) but it’s great to see this tour of the bridge. Did like the statue of Peter Osgood. RIP. Hope you can pay a visit to Elland Road, would be an experience to say the least.
Very good job mate! My name is Carlos from Madrid, Spain. I have been in love with Football since I was a child and I am passionate about the Premier League. I just discovered your channel and I just subscribed. I like your videos very much. They are very interesting and your explanations catch you from the beginning. I have a suggestion for you: Why don't you fly to Madrid to visit Santiago Bernabéu stadium and take the tour? I´m pretty sure that you'll never forget that incredible experience: 14 Champions League trophies (among many others) are wonderfully displayed. Impressive retractable roof, removable grass with a mechanism that is a marvel of engineering and many new facilities that will make it one of the most versatile and advanced sports venues in the world. Stadium works probably will completely finished during next summer. It would be a pleasure to receive your visit and I´m completely sure that you could make one of your fantastic videos about our historic and glorious field. That's my suggestion. We are waiting for you! Cheers! ¡HALA MADRID! ⚪🟣
So many things wrong with this video that I don't know where to start to be honest so I'll just concentrate on why it's not been expanded or they havent moved. Firstly it's situated in a tight spot with main roads and railway lines around it. Abramovich did get planning permission for a state of the art new stadium on the plot but then dropped it when the government refused his visa. Moving is not really an option either as this area is about the most expensive bit of real estate in the country and available nearby plots don't exist. Earls Court is the only possible option and the CPO would have to approve a move away from SB anyway. It's not the biggest stadium but it's also not a soulless sponsored bowl like The Emirates or a crumbling mess on a trading estate like Old Trafford. Chelsea, one name, one ground, one club since 1905.

Its no secret that Chelsea are looking to redevelop/move to a new ground with plans going back to the best part of a decade , the outside does look uninspiring and tired but hopefully plans will be announced sometime in the summer i think is the hope from the club .
It’s not that bad on reflection, I just set myself up to be “WOWED” going by Chelsea’s stature as a top club 👉🏾 the restrictions on development have understandably not helped
Great video mate as always!! ❤. I think the reason they don't want you or other youtubers filming around the stadium is maybe so people don't annoy the workers until they are done
@@RysFootyParadiseyeah I'd say they have there so aggressive and they shouldn't be so critical to you it's not that bad what your doing, I love commenting on the videos too I know you'll reply because your awesome
They've been very aggressive about filming around the ground for years it's not a recent thing. Some of my family are Chelsea fans and they got stopped filming a few times over the years.
A good video. Abramovich wanted to develop a new ground but couldn;t because the pitch is owned by a group not connected to the club - Chelsea pitch owners - who didn;t agree in big enough number to the move, so, basically, the club will probably always be on that site and any redevelopment will cost billions.
Thanks mate, yes that’s understandable 😊 it’s a shame because FFP playing a huge part in the premier league - Chelsea are missing out on Matchday revenue
the whole point of that devpt was to reduce reliance on matchday revenue, but times move on. Anyway, the club could have gone out of existence twice in the last 30 years so something is better than nothing. good luck with the channel.@@RysFootyParadise

Stamford Bridge is amazing and a proper English stadium to watch football, not a bad seat in the place (been to over 100 matches). Old Trafford is in a car park ffs. United fans are insufferable twits though so this is standard to me ha!😂
Yeah there are bad seats Like near the dugout the seats in that stand are small and the view is low your looking up And in the end stands the higher you are back the overhand from above stand makes it look like you are watching game through a letter box
