Floridian here, I love green anoles and I feed them leftover crickets, I think we’ve made a bond.
You think till they over through you and take over your house
@@BlazingKing yes, it happened to my house. Pls stop before it's to late.
I’m also a Floridian!
toucan good you should have a bond
Leftover crickets from what??
I live in Florida so I see these little things alllllllll the time
Same here
Me too! I still sometimes try to catch lizards, sometimes I have to relocate them around my house when they get into places they shouldn’t be.
me too!
I used to try to keep anoles as pets but my parents never let me XD
Same! They’re everywhere lol
when she said "assert his dominance" i just imagined the lizard standing up and t posing
That's exactly what they do! LOL
@@SicaGR REALLY?! HOLY SHIT
😂😂
Lasagna Lasagna *wut*
Stop,just stop
Love this! I would love to just watch you travel the world and talk about native species.
Also, congrats on the sponsorship! 😊
Man I'm so glad you talked at such length about the Brown Anole and that it's invasive as heck. AND that it's taking food and habitat from the Green Anoles. I live in Orlando so as soon as I saw your video about Florida lizards I was like SHE BETTER TALK ABOUT THOSE DANG BROWN ANOLES. But it is really interesting how quickly green anoles are evolving to combat the habitat theft. I have a lot of feelings about our Florida Anoles
I was a kid seeing green anoles before they got invaded by the brown ones. I haven't seen the green anoles in so long now that I forgot they were native first
I moved from the Pacific Northwest to Houston 20 years ago. Green anoles were everywhere. Friendly companions all around our home and garden. Everywhere in the neighborhood. Noticed a few years ago that our green buddies were gone, and a new brown variety was everywhere. I am so glad she mentioned it!
Florida is like the reptile paradise of the USA lol.
It's why I love living in FL! ❤🐊🐍🐢
Why I love my state! Idc idc!
I remember our first family vacation, we went to Orlando when I was like 7 and there were little lizards everywhere....it was awesome lol Me & my brothers were obsessed.
So is Louisiana
Yes I just got bit by a black racer in my hand we see reptiles everywhere
I live in Florida, have for 7-8 years. I’ve seen North American Curly Tails, Mediterranean House Geckos, Both Brown Anoles, Cuban Knight Anoles, Green Anoles, Green Iguanas, Corn Snakes, Garter Snakes, Southern Black Racers, Water Moccasins, Red Eared Sliders, Map Turtles, Painted Turtles, Softshell Turtles, And American Alligators, but I’ve never seen a 5 Lined Skink, or any skink in general in my life.
Hmm.
Coral snakes too. Atleast in the panhandle
I have a breeding population under my patio.
i wish i lived there omg there is only westarn fence lizards and common house geckos where i live
I would love to see a night and all in the wild I lived in Florida for half a year and didn’t get a chance to get out and really see much besides the Anoles and fence lizards
Skinks tend to live more in the woods than anoles and geckos who will move into human territory, I’ve seen 5 lined skinks numerous times but they are super quick
Love you Emily! I started watching your videos to tackle my fear of snakes!! I got hooked and I look forward to every new video. I live in Australia and wish I could go to one of your expos! We don’t have many snakes lovers here because our snakes tend to kill a lot of people. Lol
Great video! My favorite lizards in Florida are six lined racer runners. Them speedy bois is fast lol
I find those at my house I’m in North Carolina
Is that what they are called... those are my favorite too.
Floridian here-
There's a brown anole somewhere in my house and no one knows where help
what
Get a cat. They'll find them quickly. 😂
There's many in mine
Ali Penn
No worries, small reptiles are great to have around. They eat the mosquitos! I don't kill most non-venomous spiders I see around my house for the same reason.
Replace brown anole with inlaw and it still makes perfect sense.
Not first
EDIT: Also congrats on the sponsorship!
Louis Garbour yes! Nice to see them getting support😁
I LOVE those skinks! They're so pretty. I like to go "herping" in my yard with my toddler and we find those hiding out in our shed. So cute!
I live in Florida, these little bois are everywhere. Just last night a lizzer lept onto my hand in the dark, scared the everliving shit out of me, lol
I'm here at 1:00 am in Scotland 😅 stayed up just to watch this . You are my inspiration to follow my dream to become a zoologist . I wrote a full paragraph about what you do and how that was my Inspiration. Lots of love from Alanna in Scotland ! 💞
Alanna Menzies hello fellow Scotland resident.
@@Ratcrafts hewo!
Ok, what's up with the pickle? Floating In the background around 5:58 😅
Lol I didn't see that. It's a running gag in Snake Discovery videos for Pickle Rick (from the cartoon Rick and Morty) to make a cameo appearance. 😃
I was getting worried I was the only one who saw that. XD
@@SidShakal gotcha, thanks lol.
I see dat too lots
It's pickle Rick from Rick and Morty
I'm so glad you're covering the small reptiles of Florida, Floridian here. Love the green anoles. I love obsessing over them when they are on the screen door haha
Oh it's so awesome you're in Florida! I love the small lizards around here and I'm fascinated because some of these species I've never seen!
I was born and raised in South FL and my Mom found some small jelly bean sized eggs while gardening. We put them in a screen covered shoe box with some dirt & placed them under a light... about a week later, they hatched into the cutest tiny little blue tailed skinks!!! 💖💖💖
I love your channel! I had gone out earlier this year and got 3 adopted hognoses :) I used your videos to evaporate my fear of holding them and now they are tame as puppies :) Thanks Snake Discovery!
OMG! I used to see those in my yard all the time! I lived in Florida when I was younger and I still visit family there each summer. I love catching them and then letting them go again.
You are the best !!! You are the most informative person I have ever seen all the information is completely accurate
Aaah, so happy to see this! I live in Florida and have fallen in love with the anoles. A brown anole (Elend) was my first rescue and reignited my love for reptiles. Now I'm starting up a small reptile rescue!
They really are underrated, they're very smart, a bit of food and a specific sound and you can have a pack ready to visit you at a moment's notice. I'm glad to see that they're becoming less common in pet shops, they're amazing pets but definitely need more care than what's prescribed.
Hope you enjoyed your visit to Florida!
Love your channel! Glad you're growing! 👏
I love seeing lizards in nature. It's amazing how quickly some of them can adapt. Another awesome video.
Hey Ive been watching your channel for about a year now and very educational keep up the good work
Floridian here! I have 'pet' green anoles on my lanai. I give them bugs n they eat any bugs that get into the lanai. Have watched them successfully fend off brown anoles from his territory. Awesome to watch them. Thank you for the video! Love going through these older videos
Are skinks the reason that racing stripes are what the are ? Also could we rename them Nyoooooooms ?
Emily!!! So, I had the best experience the other day, I had the amazing opportunity to teach my little niece about an American toad frog we found in the garden. She’s two and probably understood nothing but she loves spending the time watching him.
Couldn’t the Brown Anole just T-Pose to assert his dominance? Why evolve when you can T-Pose?
*Cough* Mandere Reference *Cough*
IDK, maybe it is hard for them to stand on their hind legs.
LittleLoi MonkeyingAround That’s a possibility
no judgment :,3
As a viewer from south Florida I’m so happy y’all did a video here!!!
I live in florida, and i catch one of the first lizards you saw almost every day!
Emily! You guys just made me so homesick-- I'm missing Orlando and Tampa so badly, and this was such a blast from the past for me. A lot of my childhood was spent looking for some of the reptiles you found in this video!
“Don’t get out I don’t want to have to catch you again”
The anole: *”that’s the point”*
I've lived in Florida my whole life. Never put much thought into these extremely common lizards until I got older
Caught a brown anole many years ago back when I was a kid. Lizard was young. Lasted several years in captivity. Even grew comfortable around humans.
Was nice seeing such a common thing in the spotlight. Almost brings a sense of satisfaction due to the familiarity, for what ever reason.
I got those in my backyard 🤣 Orlando is cool I guess (that’s where I live)
Same! Sometimes I like catching them. Always let them go back where I found them
@@greyfox4983 I just ignore them, but they're everywhere. Always the most interesting when you catch them on the windshield of the car or something when you're going down the highway.
Alexis Martin lucky I live in Ireland and NO LIZARDS ARE in my area and also my middle name is Orlando
Grey Fox49 I love catching them they are feisty tho
I live in Orlando too
I'm so glad I found this channel! You are helping me get over my fear of snakes! I love for you to do some crested gecko videos! I just recently got one and I love it!
You guys should collabe with Kamp Kennan and Crocodile Kyle. Maybe bring Rex to their sanctuary to visit all of the crocodiles and alligators there!
That’d be pretty cool
Sounds like a great collab. Although according to a past Q&A Emily did say Rex doesn't get along with other alligators. Maybe not a collab where Rex is involved but I'd love to see Emily visit the sanctuary.
Rex may not be accepted from the other alligators, or I don’t know I don’t know that much about alligators
@@KodaExe I'm not saying put her in the enclosure, but have her tromp around in a harness or something and just explore
Have the 'kamp kennan is a horrible pet owner' people not shown up yet?? Im surprised
I admire lizards. My parents’ place here in Florida is surrounded by palm trees and all kinds of plants that spiders would love. Unfortunately for the spiders, there are lizards everywhere.
I recently moved into a brand new apartment and noticed the absence of lizards since the bushes around the buildings were still too small for them to live in. But 4 months later the lizards are showing up and eating the wolf spiders :)
They didn't find any house geckos.
Me looking at my window: "Uh, there's one right there."
(I live in Tampa Bay, Florida)
Omg when you pulled on his neck flap I lost my mind 😂😂 that was crazyyyyyyyyyyy he just let you too that was so cool! I love this video! Can you do more local wildlife stuff when you travel please?
My garage has had a colony of Mediterranean Geckos as long as I can remember.
We call them leopard geckos lol.
Please send me some
On my vacation there, we had a whole community of anoles always sticking to the fence. I love them.
Omg you’re in Orlando?!! I live there
Eliza Bea same ! Wish I could’ve met them
Me too!
I also live in Florida and was very excited when I saw this video. I'm very happy you covered these! I used to catch these lizards all the time.
Awwwww so cute!!!! I want a lizard 🦎! I wish my mom let me!
Price everything out, save up to buy the proper habitat and show how you can support it and all the supplies for it. Then perhaps she will allow you to get one.
Jp Sprinkles i used to have a baby lizard but we found him with me and my moms garden how dwe caught him: we once saw a moma lizard so we waited next day to see if it would dash out but when we looked we saw lizard eggs we were so exited about a week later i my mom saw a baby lizard and so the tip of the tail got cut off I went to go get a box for it and it didnt move much about a month later we decided it didnt get enough food to eat so we lets it go in our garden with pumkin growning flowers lettuce and some moee plants growning we put it on a leaf and the next day it was gone.
Hi Emily and Ed, thanks for your time and effort and videos. Awesome and amazing. Diane from Southampton UK
I went to Florida and caught a whole bunch of lizards they bite alot
😂😂 lol did it hurt? 😂😂
DUDE I DO THAT TO
its so fun
and i catch blue tailed skinks and i think i spelled that wrong
@@welshphrog 🤣🤣🤣
@@LollyTales
as someone who has lived in florida and caught lizards often, only the very large anoles bites hurt, the average anole you'd catch only feels like its pinching you lightly.
Love seeing them in my day to day! Also love the MN Wild shirt since I’m originally a Minnesotan lol
I was wondering if anoles changed color.i live in Texas and I sometimes see them.during the warmer months like summer,I see green anoles.in the fall and winter I only see brown anoles
They do change color a little but not so dramatically as a chameleon.
I'm a sucker for three-legged animals, so I naturally fell in love with that five lined skink. He is georgeous.
I LIVE IN OSTEEN OMG OMG OMG OMG ONLY 1 OUR AWAY HOW DID I NOT SEE YOU I LOVE YOU SO MUCH UR MY ROLE MODEL FOR LIKE IM ONLY 12 BUT I WANT TO FROW UP JUST LIKE YOU TO TEACH PEOPLE ABOUT THESE ANIMAL
Your videos never fail to make me smile :)

Smh....
UA-cam WORK PROPERLY, GRAMMARLY DISAPPROVES
Yes been waiting for the new upload!!!🐍🦎🐢
Cool. To a scale to 0-10 how much do you like lizards. I love them but my mom wants me to kill any that comes in the house
tell her you like lizards. I brought a snake into my house and my dads deathly afraid of them and I made him overcome his fear. random story but oh well
Lizards are eating mosquitoes, which is a big plus for us. That may help your mum change her mind. And they are totally harmless to People so be nice with them
I love this channel I even set up my own terrariums in 1 I have 2 frogs and a few minnows and tadpoles
First
I LOVE IT WHEN YOU GUYS UPLOAD ❤️❤️🐍🦎🐊
I love it! And here we are with snow just south of us. Not ideal for lizards around here but I love them! Thanks for showing off some little guys!
I live in south Florida, and I have literally had a giant fear of lizards my whole life. Like MY WHOLE LIFE. I don’t what about these creatures freaks me out so much, maybe how tiny they are and how jumpy, but I can’t stand them lmao. There’s one crawling on my ceiling right now and I’m literally so scared I’m hiding under my covers 😂😂
idk well I guess ur a little pussy.. You comfortable with that?
Floridian here- my yard is a reptile and amphibian haven. I see Cuban/brown anoles daily, green anoles every so often, House geckos every evening and huge frogs and toads at night. Any given summer day there’s hundreds of tadpoles in various water features around my house, leapord frogs, tree frogs, Cuban tree frogs, bufo toads. We have a few friendly ring neck snakes and a garter, and I think a black racer. This is all in my yard.
When we lived in NC we had a pair of green anoles that were our "porch lizards." My husband would pick black army fly larvae out of our compost with tongs to offer to them. It worked! The female was the more skittish of the two but also the more opportunistic feeder. By the end of the summer she would come investigate whenever he came outside and would eat out of his hand! It was so cool to watch!
I’m just home from Florida. Loved seeing all the small lizards about
Loved the video! I grew up on a big farm always work to do but, when I did have free time I loved finding lizards, frogs, snakes, and salamanders that lived around me! Always found spotted salamanders everywhere, I grew up in Ohio they are also our state amphibian!
I grew up in Orlando! Thanks for sharing some info about the local lizards.
I live in Californa. I see western fence lizards and sometimes alligator lizards. Everyday I check the temp of it is warm for lizards to be basking and look on my fence, almost everytime I see 1 or 2 western fence lizards just basking on my fence. They are Sooooo cute!
Thanks for helping me of these lizards since I’m from Australia and I only have photos that I took of them. When I went to Orlando we stayed in this hotel and outside there were hundreds maybe even thousands of brown anoles there with a few skinks as well.
I love all the lizards, snakes, and frogs here in florida. They are all great. I have 100s of brown anoles and like 8 jesus lizards/ basilisks in my backyard.
I live in Orlando and we have so many lizards!! I had to relocate a lot of them when I was gardening. They do help with the insect problem
Aww! My home state! Welcome! Love the lizards! My grandmother likes to call them “little dinosaurs”
I love these types of videos so much!!
I have never been this early 😍😍😍 I'm in FL, so awesome your here. I love this channel so much, thank you Emily for the content and for you being you!!
I love five-lined skinks! They’re the reptile that got me into herping and learning all I can about reptiles!
Where i live in florida we have the african rainbow lizard(redhead agama) and curly tail lizards. They only started showing up within the last 5 years or so and now they are EVERYWHERE. To see a brown anole is almost rare now but to see a green anole is something truly special .
Seeing little scale friends everywhere is my favorite part of living in Florida. I have those little brown anoles all over my yard, but never knew they were invasive!
I just took a trip to florida and I saw almost all off these species \, this video is really helpful for identifying.
What an informative video!
I came here to look up this lizard I found in my yard that looks like a snake (never seen before), yet learned a lot! I’m also from cent-ral Florida and the brown anoles are almost friendly. I used to have a tame one that came to greet me every morning and hang out, that lived in the base of my patio umbrella holder. I had him for years till we moved. I now have another one that comes to greet me that lives in my Yucca tree on my back porch, he is there a few times a week. I’m surprised that this is the first time Ive really noticed the 5 lined skinks, maybe it was because it was so large!
Skink: I am your worst nightmare. I will destroy you and everyone you love. Emily: OMG SOOOO CUUUTTEEEE!!!!
Floridian here too, I love those little lizards I catch them some times and release them of course they are so adorable
Hey snake doscovery!! This channel is so cool!!
6:15 look at his little heart pouding 💓
I'm a young reptile enthusiast who lives in Florida. I spend lots of time in my yard poking around for anoles. I would love to have more corn snakes here, we only have black racers who tend to be aggressive and I'm slightly afraid to catch them. Love your channel!
Wow you guys go on a lot of vacations (which you totally deserve!!!) & always do fun stuff!
LOVE Snake Discovery!
I got that phone after hearing you mention it in an earlier video....OMG much better than my LG Xcharges!!!!! Def happy with this phone. PS. Love your videos watch often :)
I used to catch those all the time! If just go outside and lay on the ground, staying absolutely still until one climbed on me and if quickly grab it! If of course let it go once I looked at it,but I love em so much!
Happen to see the green one for first time where I'm staying, great video
5:55 I loved that strange lizard on the background xD haha gotta love pickle rick
!! i live in east tennessee and see those five-lined skinks literally all the time!! i never knew what they were called before but i love them so much
That Pickle Rick you had in the background tripped me OUT lmao
I love this channel❤️❤️❤️
You should totally do a educational seminar here in florida I live 30 minutes away from orlando. I'm so scared of snakes and you guys have helped me so much and getting educated about what I feared was my smarted move. We had some tiny little snakes get in my house a friend of mine killed 2 and shortly after I started watching your videos and the next time I found them in my house I damn near had a heart attack but I caught them (not using my hands one step at a time) and released them in the woods behind my house and I felt so much better about knowing I didnt harm them and they weren't going to harm me either I believe they were ringneck snakes small little things.
I love you guys and you are now my favorite youtube channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luv u bye!
I live in Florida and catch green and brown anoles allllllll the time
Houstonian here, over the last ten years I witnessed the takeover of the bahaman anole. A long time ago all I had in my yard were the green anoles, but slowly I started seeing more and more of the bahamans. They’re about every 7/10 lizards now.
I saw the second one in my pool it was so pretty
Awesome
That blue tail is amazingly beautiful
I was raised in Tampa and used to catch those lizards all the time as a kid. It was a lot of fun.
The lizards are so adorable, even if a lot of them are invasive species. I love having them around, though. They're fun to watch. Our cat loves watching them through the window.
