  • We visit with Andy who kindly shows us around his beautiful gas Continental Powered 1945 Oliver Cletrac crawler tractor.
    Thanks Andy!
You can see these tractors and much more every Labor Day weekend at the Western Minnesota Steam Thrashers Reunion in Rollag, MN. This is a fantastic show with endless attractions. I attended every day and still did not see everything!

Fantastic little crawler. I would say Oliver had some interesting ideas for a crawler. The Continental gasoline engine was used in various application even in the 50s.

Love the Cletrac headlights, makes them look like a bug from the front.

I have 2 D2,s D4, a TD6, TD14, and an allis chalmers M. Don’t have a cletrac but I’ve seen them, they seem like they had been the least expensive crawler of the major brands. They are still very neat though.

I think they were a very economical alternative. They are definitely built lighter than the comparable IH or caterpillar crawlers. Still a neat unit with a very smooth running and sounding engine! Thanks for watching! 👍

Hello and thanks for watching! There were many different versions of crawlers some with what they called a tail seat. It is my understanding that the tail seat was for agricultural tractors. Also known as drawbar tractors built specifically for pulling. The tail sheet would give the operator a better view of the drawbar and the hitch pin, when hooking up or in use. The more forward enclosed seats with armrests are better able to hold an operator in place that may be encountering rough terrain such as dozing material. Hope this answered your question. 👍
