  • This Cletrac 40-30, with a Ruston 3YCN engine fitted, is working hard at the recent Notts NVTEC plough day.
The original specification is as follows -
Built from 1928 to 1931, just 323 Model 40-30s were built. Power was supplied by a Hercules six-cylinder engine with a 41/4 by 41/2-inch bore and stroke. Power was transferred to the tracks through a two-speed transmission. Recommended to pull a five-bottom plough, the Model 40-30 was priced to sell at $2,475.

Well that sure was something a bit different! Very interesting! Glad you explained the smoke, but even if timing need tweaking she was making easy work of pulling that plough.
    Great restoration job

Seen a few of Johns engine conversions in various tractors, that is a fantastic restoration and the Cleetrac looks and sounds great 💪💪👍

I do enjoy seeing something different running round, and that ticked the box! Be interesting to see how it runs after the timing is done. I think Chris from pro horizon was there filming as well

Very nice. I sure like crawler tractors. Almost sounded like it was missing on one cylinder when no load on it.
Thanks for the video , have a great week. 👍🏻👋

Fascinating. A disused quarry was a playground for me in my youth complete with a Ruston Bucyrus cable crane long past it's sell buy date. The crane had a claret and cream paintjob, a covering of grease everywhere and liberated a chain for my friends bicycle that looked much bigger than our chains but did the job. Learnt that wire under skin was just as painful as thorns, practically unavoidable when climbing the boom which had fraying wire cables everywhere. Great to see a Ruston engine getting a new lease of life. The crane in the vid is different to the one I played on but brought back a memory. Very enjoyable vid not just for the memory but to see a crawler in action!
