This is the first show where I haven't seen any of the films. I now understand why although the Black Cauldron looks it could be possibly entertaining.
Well, DRAGNET preceded it, and he was funny in that....and before BIG, there was SPLASH. BACHELOR PARTY is a great POLICE ACADEMY style movie (written by the same guys) but he may very well have ended up a poor man's Bill Murray if he continued in that vein.
When I was a teenager, The Heavenly Kid was just some silly fun. But seeing it again as an adult I was surprised at how poignant and touching it really is, and that aspect of it had flown right over my head. It's much more than your typical '80s teen comedy where the boys are obsessed with seeing the girls naked, and the girls are just there as eye candy. I'd recommend it to anyone.
wow 3 of my childhood favorites on one show, now to listen to them butcher some of my favorite films. admittedlt the Black Cauldron was a let down, not terrible just seemed really short and simple not much happened. i was never able to even sit through "The Man With One Red Shoe". but i will still watch "The Heavenly Kid" any time any place. and 'Explorers" is fine too.
The Man With One Red Shoe is one of my favorites. I thought it was hilarious and interesting. I've seen it so many times I can quote every scene. Ebert criticized its "idiot plot." THAT is what made it funny. There are numerous hilarious lines and scenes.
Explorers was badly cut up by the studio before release, but the script is pretty awkward; it starts out as a charming science fiction story in the tradition of Heinlein's juveniles (hence the name of the pet mouse), but takes a wrong turn when they meet the aliens; I'm surprised Robert Picardo wasn't asked to recite Vogon poetry. Still, it's worth a watch for seeing Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix at the very beginning of their careers, and the typical Joe Dante references to classic films.
Every time they talk about Disney animation it’s always like they entered the twilight zone. Ebert really asks at the end who the more effective villain was? What?
I love the Black Cauldron. I saw it in the cinema three times when it came out. It's just so different from other disney films. I really like the dark atmosphere.
Hahahaha Yes Amazing Disney Fantasyland Adventures I'm Happy To Say I Really Did Loved And Liked This Movie That The Film Is Very Fantastic And Astonishing And Excellent And Prior Are One Of My All Time Favorite Best Timeless Classic Disney Films The Black Cauldron I Gave You 5 Stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🅰️➕ 10/10 And Also I Gave You Rare A+ 70mm Best Picture 4K Disney Plus Also For Me I Voting Two Big Thumbs Way Up.👍👍
This video has a weird facial stabilization effect on it, where it moves and crops the frame constantly to keep their faces in the center. The movie clips especially are screwed up, as it doesn't know what to focus on.
I have never been so disappointed with Roger than I am right now for his inability to see the irredeemably messy and thunderously dull shitheap known as The Black Cauldron for what it is.

It's a mediocre story but wonderfully animated.
It's genuinely amazing how Tom Hanks turned his career around (starting with Big). He could have ended up like someone like Steve Gutenberg.
No kidding. I'm glad he upgraded from being "this Tom Hanks guy" to just "Tom Hanks".
great point

Nothing in Common is a good movie. That came before “Big”.
@@hrebec97 NOTHING IN COMMON is one of my favorite movies. He does a wisecracking character in that, but he also has a dramatic arc. Great film.

released the same year and kind of a rip off of `Back to the Future`
“But Rog, if the pig is psychic…” The late, great Gene Siskel. 😆
Gene Siskels review of "Explorers" is 100% accurate
Tom Hanks didn't like The Man With One Red Shoe, he said it had no real focus.

The Man With One Red Shoe wasn't as bad as the critics made it; it held my attention.
The black cauldron was beautifully animated and ghostbusters is a classic
Me two
It's awesome actually, and it should've been R rated because of the dark scenes like Shin Godzilla and Dinocroc
The Black Cauldron sucks but it's a treat to look at. So on that premise I guess I like it.
It seemed like Roger genuinely wanted to punch Gene during this episode.
Man with one red shoe is light on laughs but it’s quite stylish and Thomas Newmans delightful score has been in my head for for almost 40(?!?!) years
I'm here from the future to agree with you, it's not laugh out loud funny, but it's clever and stylish and the score is great! Plus, peak Lori Singer.
They also hated Stan Dragoti's SHE'S OUT OF CONTROL, another movie that had visual style, a clever concept and a great soundtrack.

The whole "let's bring an animal on to the set to represent how we feel about this movie" gimmick was so weird.
ya wtf a skunk, and they never mention that theres a literal skunk there either, weird af
Looks like black cauldron only movie to see

There will be a sequel of Explorers and it will happen! And this time Ethan Hawke will return as adult Ben Crandall 😍😍

I like the Man with One Red Shoe. One of the more accurate espionage movies... lots of US screw ups.
They nailed Explorers, though.
I love The Black Cauldron. It's just like Shin Godzilla and Dinocroc 2004 but scarier

I actually really like THE MAN WITH ONE RED SHOE
Geez, nearly 40 year ago…. What could I have done better?
Explorers was a great idea for a movie that was ruined by a really stupid ending..
That alien made me laugh uncontrollably as a youngster.
Love the pig
