I find the price point still good for a more complex multi-ingredient serum. If you go to the drug store you will spend $60 CAD on a basic HA or niacinimide serum from Avene or La Roche Possay. This is still way less. And - they still sell all of their single ingredient serums cheaper. So you have choices. Also - I love that you take the time to try products thoroughly first before commenting! I skip reviews that are just reviewing ingredients and trying for the first time.
Looks like I’ll have to pick up a couple of these at the annual sale for winter. The colour is so much fun. I love it! I thought it was pretty similar to the MG as well.
Thank you Ashley, always useful and informative, pls make us an updated video of your morning and evening routine so we know how to incorporate this serum with tretinoin, copper peptide, and vit. C Love you
YAY! Sounds like a great addition!!! I wish they had this back in May when I really need needed it 🤣🤣🤣 but I’m still working on completely repairing my barrier so I may pick it up THANK YOU!!!!! I’m so glad I can use it with my copper and tretnoin!!!! Sweet!!!! I struggle with red cheeks ever since an EO cleanser ripped my face up 😮🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
This year like every year in November I bought this serum like something new to try 😂 and I am very happy with it. I already ordered the second bottle, because in two weeks I used it every day and I like the feeling and effect. I tried already almost all products and many Produkts on oil base don’t fit me. So I am happy that the ordinary makes more new serums nicht water based
I like it a lot. My rosacea has always burned and this stuff makes me face feel like before when I didn’t know I had it. I have been breaking out, but I’ve also been trying the gooodlight moisturizer so idk which. But if it is this serum, I don’t think I’ll stop using it even if it does break me out because it makes my face feel THAT much better
Hello question I been using vitiman c for 3 years already but I want to take a break or try something different by using copper peptides is almost like vitiman c or better ? What u suggested any tips pls
Do you know if this serum is safe to use with Epiduo (it contains 0.1% Adapalene and 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide)? I use Epiduo to treat my acne and this serum sounds like just the thing I need to help soothe my skin
It broke out my face, which I have never experienced with any of the other amazing products. This being said, I am very happy with other products as well! They work wonders for me! All in all, I am very satisfied with the quality of the products I have tried.
@@SincerelyMissAsh I do to think it is worth a try and so far I am really liking it. The big test will be when winter comes. I live in the northeast of the USA winters are brutal here so hoping this helps because now at 66 my skin especially around my eyes gets cracked and flaky.
Hi Ashley, I learn so much from you. Thank you! Between this Ordinary soothing and barrier support serum and Niod Modulating Glucosides, which one would you recommend for post-shave irritation, such as redness and razor bumps? I’m a 49 year old male with combination skin that can be sensitive but not ultra sensitive. Or is there another calming serum that you would recommend even more for post-shave irritation? I really value your advice and hope to hear back from you. Thank you! 🙏🏼
That is great to hear!! I am so glad you find my videos helpful😊 To be honest, the NIOD Modulating Glucosides or The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Serum would be great options for post shave. I have used the NIOD serum longer and it really is a game changer for irritation/redness. I haven't used The Ordinary one for too long but so far it's been very comparable. I couldn't live without the Modulating Glucosides so maybe that answers your question without telling you which one to go with lol! There are other repairing serums I could recommend but to be honest I believe these two options are the best! The La Roche Posay Cicaplat Baume B5 cream is a great moisturizer to use even on top of those serums especially when your skin is at it's angriest!
@@SincerelyMissAsh Thank you very much for the detailed response. I truly appreciate you taking the time to provide guidance based on your knowledge and experience with the products. Have a wonderful weekend! 🙏🏼
I have tried very expensive products claiming to soothe irritated skin and they never help me as Niod modulating glucoside. I pair that with La Roche cicaplast b5 and my skin recovers quickly. I am wondering if this product works as well as Niod.
I haven't been able to use the Ordinary one yet when my skin is at it's angriest but I will be putting it to the test when my skin is in that state... They are very comparable but the NIOD one is magic for irritated skin.
Just what to thank you for all your reviews. its very helpful. can you use it with alpha arbutin 2% HA and copper peptide and if you can what order? thank you
Aw you're welcome and I am glad you enjoy my videos🥰 Yes, you can definitely use it with Alpha Arbutin and Copper Peptides! I would apply Copper Peptides first then Alpha Arbutin and then Soothing Barrier Serum.
Hi Ashley🌞 yes I would love to see that video! I'm going to try this. I use my tretinoin 3 nites and then use my copper peptides or lactic acid, etc... but every once in a while, I feel a burning around my mouth and nose area. This would be good for those times. Ashley I find myself wanting to use so many serums of The Ordinary AM and PM. I don't know which I should delete. They are all so good. I'm 65, so I concentrate on anit- aging and hydration. Can you do a video on how you rotate your skin care morning and nite please? Thank you🩷 How's your furry baby doing?
Noted!! I will definitely add that video idea to the list but to be honest I rotate my skincare depending on how my skin looks/feels and what I feel like using lol Berkley is doing great thank you for asking🥰 He is still learning and growing and lots of training to do still but he has been a good boy!!
I saw that one of the promo photos says it has “sugar based hydrators” and someone had commented that this ingredient would cause breakouts. Do you think that is true? I have rosacea and dry skin so I’d love to try but obviously don’t want my skin to break out!
Hi This Joanne from Fresno ca, are you still using the ordinary serums? I haven’t heard you say on your video you are using the ordinary any more, I’am following your video on am and pm or dry skin with the ordinary I love 💕 it, how do we put this serum in our routine for dry skin? can you please do a video in it thank you
Yes, I still use a lot of Ordinary serums/products but I don't have a routine that is solely on The Ordinary brand but I do incorporate a lot of products in my weekly routine.. You can apply the new Soothing & Barrier Serum like this: Cleanser, toner/essence, water based serums, Soothing & Barrier Serum, Moisturizer, Sunscreen.
They are totally different! Marine Hyaluronics is more for hydration/plumping where as this serum is for repairing the skin barrier and perfect for dry, sensitive and irritated skin.
Wait, why can't we use this with vitamin C?? Where/when did they say that? And how are we supposed to use this 2x a day if Vitamin C is apart of our routine?
The Ordinary shares that info on their website under "usage details." It doesn't have to be used twice a day so if you use Vitamin C in the morning then use this serum at night..
@@lpsprincess14 Prices in EUR are different, it's 20.40 EUR, that's 22 USD. For that amount I can get 2 tubes of LaRoche Posay Cicaplast which has been my go-to for skin barrier repair.
I agree. So many The Ordinary products are creeping up and up in price. The whole purpose of their line was inexpensive products because each product did one thing, and has simple ingredients in them. Thanks for watching!
Hey! I am using tretinoin once a week because i have very dry skin. Can i put this on first and on top of it tret? Or use them separately?
Thank you for this review! I love the pink color. 🩷

Yes 😉

I would be cautious around the eyes but I wouldn't use this on lips.
