Great video! Eagle Rare is what got me into bourbon. To answer a question you mentioned, when touring BT earlier this year I asked the same question regarding warehouse floor location of Buffalo Trace vs. Eagle Rare. The tour guide told me that along with the younger age Buffalo Trace is also stored on the upper floors of the rick house while Eagle Rare ages in the mid-range of the warehouse.
That's good to know. I really thought it was more then just the age that made them different. Thanks for sharing the information.
Great info, enjoyed the video
Great video. Eagle Rare is one of my favorite bourbons. I’m on like bottle number 10 🤣. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! I'll keep trying. I'm on bottle #2.
I just got 2 bottles from Walmart 75th Ave and Mcdowell at $32. They have plenty of bottles, maby 20.
NICE!
My first bottle of eagle was more cherry vanilla the last couple have been more grape forward
I've heard people getting grape from it, but so far that note eludes me.
Fantastic production quality, Peter, and a great review to boot. Glad the algorithm showed us your channel. Keep up the exceptional work!
@Stuff & Whiskey I appreciate the feedback and the encouragement. It means a lot coming from you guys. Thank you for what you do and the way you do it!
The bottle with the "Aged 10 Years" on the front is the latest label design; it first showed up in Ohio 2-3 months ago I think.
I thought so, but was not sure. Thanks for clarifying.
I just picked up my first Eagle Rare bottle on Sunday (at Safeway in Sierra Vista, AZ). Can't wait to crack it!
Jeff that's amazing. I've never seen it in a "non liquor store" before. Good find! You need to let me know what you think of it when you open it.
@@whiskeyisajourney I totally agree. I was absolutely shocked to see a slot for it on the top shelf of the Safeway liquor department (just out in the open, and not behind the glass case portion). And luckily, the assistant manager of the department set one aside just for me. It was really cool! I'll keep in touch and let you know!
Eagle Rare, I like it more than Blanton's.
After I finish my bottle
I'll be buying a 1.75 bottle. 🦅
They make a bigger bottle of Eagle Rare? Cool. I've never seen that in my area. I prefer the darker richer notes found in Eagle Rare over the lighter sweet crispness of Blanton's.
@@whiskeyisajourney agree on Eagle Rare. The Long lasting sets well.
Same reason as I said on straight Buffalo Trace review 2 years later: Eagle Rare / Eagle Rare 10 cannot be found in my area (or at least I cannot - maybe someone is getting it). My experience gives me that it has Rare in its name because it's rare to find it in some places.
It goes in waves here in Phoenix. It was available for a few months and then disappeared for 8 months and then came back for a month or 2 and now it's gone again. I never understand distribution.
Did the Buffalo Trace tour in June, I was able to pick up two bottles of Colonel Taylor, two bottles of the Buffalo Trace and bottles of Eagle Rare.
If you don't mind sharing... how much did you pay for the EH Taylor? $20-40, $40-60 or higher? My EH Taylor Small Batch video comes out Sept. 3rd.
E.H.Taylor small batch is my absolute favorite.
First video of yours - good stuff! A friend intro-d me to Rare and I love it. Problem is I can never find the damned stuff lol.
Where are you located? Like I said in the video, I got my first bottle from The Whiskey Exchange, but since then I've seen it at Total Wine and More (allocated) in Phoenix Arizona just about every other month, but not sure how long that will last. Cheers and thanks for the view and comment. I appreciate it.
@@whiskeyisajourney I'm in northern Florida. North or South, Eagle Rare is a unicorn. I am also in New Mexico fairly often and can't find it there either.
That sucks! I hope you eventually find it in your locations and pick up a few. Happy hunting!
@@whiskeyisajourney Thank you sir! I stay on the hunt 🙂
I like Eagle Rare more than Buffalo Trace due to having some more grape on it. Both are very good but i have turned to more of a high proof bourbon drinker but these are some of the best low proof bottles out there
I have 3 more reviews coming from Buffalo Trace Distillery. You mentioned high proof...hang with me because I'm going to end with Stagg Jr. Batch 15. 131.1 proof.
I love Eagle Rare one of my favs 🦅🥃the new bottle design has 10 year on front and back
Thanks for the information. Cheers.
yes the age statement on the front is the newest rendition.
Thanks for clarifying.
Great video and great production quality. They recently re-did the labeling on the bottle and brought the age statement back onto the front of the bottle.
I view Eagle Rare 10 as a fantastic daily sipper bourbon (sadly it’s too hard to find for it to be a daily sipper for most people). I highly recommend it to friends who are just getting into bourbon as a great beginner bourbon due to the low-ish proof.
Personally, I wish the proof was a bit higher. It suffers at 90 proof where it just tastes a little too watered down. In my opinion, this is especially prominent on the finish, which I find to be quite short.
Thanks for the information! I'm still at a point in my journey that some "low proof" offerings still feel higher than they are. With that said...lets see how I handle the Stagg Jr coming up in 3 weeks.
I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts on the Stagg Jr. I’ll reserve my comments on that one till your video for it comes out
My thoughts on eagle rare is that it's the slightly more refined version of Buffalo trace. If you want Buffalo race, but less of an ethanol burn, a better nose, and slightly more pronounced flavors- but at a higher price, get it. I don't hate it, but eagle rare doesn't crack my top 10
Good explanation I see where you're coming from. Curious...what's in your top 10? Feel like sharing?
@@whiskeyisajourney 10) Basil Hayden's (standard release) 9) monkey shoulder 8) angel's envy 7) Four Roses Small Batch 6) Whistlepig old world rye 5) The Belvenie 12 year Caribbean cask 4) Redbreast 12 3) Four Roses Small Batch Select 2) Lagavulin 16 1) Redbreast 12 cask strength.
@@joeldykman7591 I've had a few selections from Four Roses...there's something about them that puts me off. Not sure what it is but I'll keep trying them. Good list!
Awesome video! Really appreciate the production quality and the info. Very high quality video
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback.
Best budget buffalo Trace 🦬 product in my opinion. Eagle Rare 🦅 is King
No argument here. Eagle Rare is good stuff!
Bottle changes initially had me thinking I got a counterfeit 😅. Curious what a single barrel version would be like, I’m not a fan of the 90 proof and minimal complexity on this one, same with Buffalo Trace. It’s a toss up between the two for me.
I was confused by the 2 different bottle designs at first as well. I feel like the Eagle Rare is a big brother to the Buffalo Trace. If I was drinking or sipping over a nights session I think I would be content switching back and forth between both of them, but I would lean toward ER 10 more. Cheers!
I tried it, once, and I liked it.
A step up from Buffalo Trace. I reach for this more than any other products from BT I have. Cheers!
Appreciate the video! I just picked up an Eagle Rare at Fry's and am tempted to open it to see if I get cherry off it! When I had it late last year it was so cherry forward! Either way it, and Buffalo Trace, is a solid pour!
Crazy. You are now the 2nd person that said they picked it up at a grocery story. I've never seen it at one. Only in liquor stores. Good for you. Good find.
@@whiskeyisajourney It's the first time I've seen it at a grocery store here! It's recently been easy to find after being almost nonexistent. Go figure.
That’s funny I’ve always got the citrus zest on the nose and definitely on the pallet followed by the oak.
And do you like it?
The blending is different .barrels are picked that meet each taste profile and blended accordingly
Thanks for clarifying.
@@whiskeyisajourney and the store picks will be single barrels and a sticker on them showing its a single barrel and the store that picked
Awesome video, I am a fellow Arizonan and I am stating my whiskey journeys too I subscribed can’t wait to see your next video.
Thanks! What part of AZ are you from? Next 3 videos will be EH Taylor Small Batch, Weller Antique 107, and then Stagg Jr.
@@whiskeyisajourney tucson, I have wanted to try those. sounds awesome !
I see ER going for $80 and BT going for $50 by me in NJ. I wanna try it but not at that markup
I don't think I would either. ER maybe if I've never had it before and had some money in the budget. But not the BT.
Excellent review!!!
Thanks! E.H. Taylor Small Batch up next Saturday.
Great video I own 5 bottles. Eagle rare
Okay. Way to be stocked up on a bourbon you like. Cheers!
I was very keen to try some.
Until I hear it’s been chill filtered.
I think I’ll keep looking for a non-castrated bottling instead.
I did not know that. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Its time for Buffalo Trace to man up and put small batch on the bottle.
Or man up and make it a single barrel again.
The stores are ripping people off in New Jersey. Some stores are selling it for $75/$85 for the 750ml. 🐂💩
I picked up a bottle yesterday for 34.99 at Total Wine and More. It was allocated and limit 1 per person.
Eagle is good, unfortunately the price is getting out of control .
No way would I sip buffalo, its like nail polish
The price of a lot of whiskey is out of control. Something has to give.
are those both 750mL? ive never seen that short fat bottle before
The one I was drinking from is a 700mL. I got it off of The Whiskey Exchange. The unopened bottle is a 750mL from Total Wine and More.
Do they produce four roses? Still?
Four Roses is still produced, but not by Buffalo Trace. Four Roses Distillery owned by Kirin Brewing Company produces it.
Its brighter and darker? Lol
Kind of silly, but it's the way it came across. Nose and initial tasting was bright then the darker aspects came through before it flattened out.
@@whiskeyisajourney fair enough...
