No, just been really busy. I thought it was great quality and the operating system worked well. The only thing I disliked I mentioned in the video and it was that I had to look down a way to see the other parts of apple carplay. I tend to not take my eyes off the road. We have hands free laws in Minnesota and so my phone is mounted up super high and it felt against my current habits to have half the screen so low. No complaints on the system, just not my style. Soooo much screen though!
Not sure on watching movies but the backup camera get slightly distorted where the lines on the screen are taller than they should be in real life. Like if a car was in the camera it would look tall and skinny. Dasaita has the opposite issue where things tended to be flatter...not sure if there is an easy way around this I am unaware of.
The unit looks very good, you presented the install very well, as well as the head changeout can be done. Appreciate the update on use. Any quality control issues? Are there any "geez" moments in installing or using??? You make a good point about having to get used to the new "way" to use the unit. Yes, I agree, wish the screen could be raised to the top of the edge of the dash. Good Job!
Currently have the dasaita, it's been decent overall but curious with this one if it dimms at night? That's a giant screen, curious how bright it is at night driving and how annoying it is, lol Any idea if it goes low enough where it'd remove the Limited edition seat heater/ventilation dials?
@@CrumbBuster have had it for about a year and a half with about 30k miles of use. Overall it's been a solid unit but definitely some odd bugs every now and then. It'll occasionally drop connection to Android Auto / CarPlay for a few seconds. Wireless Android Auto works but isn't super consistent so I mostly stick to wired WiFi will sometimes turn itself off and you have to go back into the settings to re-enable it. Doesn't have the best shielding, there is some slight background static (not too bad though) Overall, for the price, I am pretty pleased with it. I am always looking for other options but haven't found others that I think would be better. Was looking at the new T10 for a bit but it seems like it would likely have the same or similar quirks. Definitely happy with it compared to my old stock headunit (I have a 2016 limited)
Hey great video! Wud of been great to see it with the auxiliary lights on and lit up at night! How much does this head unit cost by the way? I have a 2016 Limited 4runner. 👍
Ok I'd say....I still use OnX on my phone with my Dasaita head unit and this one. The apple carplay version is too laggy and limited...iPad minis are great.
Great review here. You're the first one I've seen with one of these style head units. I've got a 19 Limited, any idea of how it would work with the JBL?
Not any more effort than other head unit swaps. You should use the screen for watching movies at camp or something though, because I think it is on the pricey side respectively.
Not really sure...It covers part of the usb outlet area so I presume if the shelf comes all the way up to the climate controls it would hit the screen.
I relocated mine to the "Party Mode" slot from the OG 5th gen. That was something I did when I cut that whole part out on my rig and put in rocker switches. Check that video out to see how I did it and it might help you figure out the process.
@@OverlandEngineer do you know if this will fit on a 2023 4runner? And is the squeaking an issue after you install it? love the look and love all your videos
Looks dumb. Imo. Just too much screen. I don’t even like the way it is for my 2021 where I can’t turn off some of the dash lights. My 1996. I can go black out, and just cruz. saves my eyesight
Obviously he didn’t like it. No update since install. No responses from any of the questions

@@OverlandEngineer It stretches so low it looked terrible.
Show us on the next update how the back up camera looks and watching movies.

Yah interested in seeing if it dims well enough! Looks extremely nice!
Gah, y'all 5th Gen owners are lucky to get aftermarket support like this. Would love to have something like this for my 4th Gen

May I ask how long you have had the Dasaita? Any bugs with it?

Check the link in the description. I think it dimmed. You can always adjust it manually but it should have dimmed with low beams.
Any updates on this particular audio replacement? … Did ya reinstall the Desaita? … please respond so I don’t waste my money as a fellow engineer
My latest video is on the Dasaita
Thanks for your response … I’m kind of like yourself this maybe to large … so which version of the Dasaita unit did ya go back to ?
Nice! How is it with On-X and other off-road oriented and navigation type apps?
Thanks.

No idea...likely the amp won't be as good but I presume it integrates. I'd double check the years of compatibility.
Not keen on Tesla style screens but curious as to how much access you had to the switch panel hidden by the bottom of the screen?
None…it covered it
Cool video, I’ll wait until my warranty expires for something like that.
Waiiiit a minute what??? 🤣
So does that ODBII it came with give you a diagnostic reading for the rig?
I thought it would but it wouldn't read out PSI or some of the other stuff I thought it would...not sure why. That might have been my fault.
Having had this display for over a week now, how do you like it so far? Do you still think it is worth the effort and money?
Not any more effort than other head unit swaps. You should use the screen for watching movies at camp or something though, because I think it is on the pricey side respectively.
So, after 4 months do you like it? Did you switch back?
If I currently have a stock manual AC and purchase the automatic AC edition, will this give me that feature or do I already need to have automatic?
How is the unit handling the Northwoods cold?
No issues!
Love the hoodie! Where is it from?

@@OverlandEngineer Thank you! Totally missed it when searching the website
No way I would have this eyesore in my 4Runner.
Hi. Are those buttons lit? At night, does display turn to night/dark mode? Thanx!
how did you feel about the space between the 4wd shifter and the unit? Did you try going into 4lo?
I had the same question. I'm always bumping something else a little making that shift you can't just be soft with it.
Do the cameras work, I have a Birds Eye view
Is there an input for Aux audio? I'd like to connect the GMRS external speaker into the car speakers.
I presume so. I bet the manual shows how to set it up and I just did it without thinking. Since it has apple carplay I always forget about it haha
You think this will fit well with the center molle panel and bridge?

Don't see link to your handy magnetic light. Please share!
Haha true! amzn.to/3HHdDyU
The link says this is an Android 11.. is it different from the Apple CarPlay or it’s the same thing?
what did you do with your old head unit? selling it?
Swapped back, see pinned comment.
Where does the USB and dc plug get moved to?

Dude...sorry. I know there's alot of work involved there...but that doesn't look good. What does look good is the temp's on those knobs. I want that.
How’s the mic?
How does this work with TPMS?
I was hoping it would read them but I didn't get it working.
Will this work with Toyota 4runner Limited 2019
You'd have to double check their compatibility list or reach out to their customer service.

Is apple carplay wireless on this head unit?
Yep

Really bad music, really bad, like hold music from the DMV.
Sorry, but that looks horrible in the 4Runner.
All these Chinese units have bad sound quality
