Yep, earlier in the night Kanyon beat Booker T. Next PPV Booker was main eventing with the world title and Kanyon was losing a Judy Bagwell on a Forklift match.
I remember that too...really bad booking

I’ve seen Jeff talk about this moment and he said it was one of the best moments of his career to drop the belt to Booker.
Russo has made some silly booking decsions in the wrestling promotions he has worked for in the past. However, putting the WCW title on Booker T was one of the best things he did.
Booker should've been world champion in WCW right after his best of 7 series with Benoit. Because both guys showed how great they were during those matches. And at the time, the main events were missing guys that could really go in the ring and put on great matches. Booker being world champion was one of the best things about the last days of WCW. It's really a shame more guys didn't get a chance before thanks to Hogan and Bischoff being content with the status quo of keeping the older wrestlers in the main events.
you realize the industry is about talking and storylines right?
They had so much potential in the main event scene with Booker T, DDP, Sting, Goldberg, Bret Hart, Scott Steiner, even Nash. (not to mention the upcoming guys Benoit, Eddie, Jericho) They could have had their own "young" main event scene to compete against Rock, Austin, HHH, Undertaker. Instead we kept getting Hogan, Flair and Piper...
@@blackout8777 Booker was good enough at cutting promos and making storylines work. You would have a point with Benoit. But his in ring was so good he didn't need it. It's kind of like old school pro wrestling. Yeah it helps if you can talk well but if you are great in the ring that can tell a story too. Just look at Bret Hart. Guy couldn't talk that well but he was a master at telling a story in the ring.

Why would it be awkward backstage Eric and hogan left the arena yes maybe before that but as Vince says what did hulk and Eric think was going to happen at the end of the show

That shows just how much of a hot mess WCW was. They didn't even have their PPV main event nailed down until 10 minutes before the fricken main event. How you not know how you're going to close the show before the cameras start rolling?
