As I recall the owner of the store was a friend of one of the WWE referees, he told him that he was going to shut down for a month or so to do some extensive renovations. When the ref heard that he went "I got an idea, let me go talk to my boss, I think we can do something here."
For me - Booker won me over with his feud with Austin (and DEFINITELY with their Super Market Brawl!!)! I was a WWF guy ..... I knew who Booker was, but I didn't watch WCW. Booker was awesome during all that and he clicked with me after this! Love Booker T!!
My most favorite WWE memory is with Stone Cold and Booker T in the grocery store and the fact that it was at a real grocery store with real people that just happened to be in the store just made the experience even better for me when I watched it as a little boy
In a way, the brawl (and supporting material) could be considered one of the precursors to what we refer to as a "cinematic match" today. Sure, not on the level of say the Boneyard Match or any of the Hardys' Deletions, just to name a couple examples, but still something that blurred the lines a bit more, rather than being another vignette that turned ended up getting physical. Easily a memorable moment, because Booker and Steve gave it something more.
Booker t is the goat the man walked so brothers could run he was so damn good he was funny af but in the ring was cool as can be his unique move set was straight fire too love me some spinaroonie , Harlem hangover scissor kick and book end all moves were straight heat and even outside the ring Booker is a goat he’s still helping people out like trick Williams and Jacob fatu no wonder bad bunny made a song called Booker t
Booker and Steve improvised the entire skit and they evidently had a lot of fun! Vince reimbursed the owner for using his store AND cut him a separate check that allowed him to retire!
I got a chance to meet booker t at a wildkat wrestling show, get a autograph and pitcure taken with him,a independent wrestling curcuit here in new Orleans, he's a very cool and humble person
You did a DAMN good job, Book. They'll be circulating that grocery store match on permanent replay 200 years from now! Chris, I also messaged Book on his YT channel to let him know that my social worker found the video to be downright hilarious, and Book couldn't help but crack a smile. True artists like Booker T and Stone Cold are legendary.
I'm not crazy about most "remote location" shoots, (thinking Ric Flair in the desert) but the grocery store battle was an absolute riot. I don't think most other wrestlers could have made it so classic.
That was not a brawl. That was an ass whipping. It should have been a brawl though. Booker never got the credit he deserved from WWE. WCW treated him like an actual wrestler

On a controversial RAW episode, Steve Austin did pull up to Brian Pullman’s house. When he made his way inside and confronted Brian, Brian pulled the gun on him and then it ended. I don’t think Harlem Heat were invoked at all.

Booker T and Austin, were bloody gold. They both just entertained. Booker, really deserved a bigger push.
Altho Booker, no matter how much time you give, always delivered.

oh nice, i was at WM19 as well.
I met him at WM18 so I met him before you therefore I win 😃
As big a star as Austin is all anyone remembers is Booker in the store
I really love that fight in the Supermarket with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Booker T. The whole thing was so funny I enjoyed the hell out of it.

@justinditzler4168 Somebody always has to drag politics into everything. Shut the hell up and enjoy the video. 🤣

@@k-slay4407 It's actually fitting here tho. Considering politics are as if not even more scripted and fake than WWE lol.

I heard before wrestling Booker had a troubled past. I am glad he became who he is today. A great wrestler and a great person.
probably can no longer go into a supermarket without worrying about being attacked by Stone Cold. Poor T, suffering supermarket PTSD...
Thats why it was so dam good. Not scripted. Thats the problem with today's wrestling as everything is scripted.
right with two wrestlers who absolutely knew how to deliver.
Booker t the best ❤
Booker and Steve improvised the entire skit and they evidently had a lot of fun! Vince reimbursed the owner for using his store AND cut him a separate check that allowed him to retire!
"Pardon me, sir... would you have any Grey Poupon?🤣
Booker is another WCW guy like Dustin Rhodes that got relegated to a comedic role as punishment by Vince and still came out a HoFer!
When the moon hits your eyes like a big pizza pie, that's Amore
Then smash pizza over Bookers head lol
Booker t is band from this supermarket for Life 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

It was in Bakersfield California and that store is now a dollar store like book said
It must be a huge dollar store compared to how they're usually sized.
it was worth every last cent!!!!!!!!
"King Booooka!", *Batista corpsing lol*
That's cool they went back to the Store years later 👍😁.
Amazing! I remember watching it live. I laughed so hard 😂
Booker sometime sounds like Macho Man
Love Booker T 😊
It was such a memorable match/segment and thats what pro wrestling is all about.

With The Price Of Groceries This Skit Now... Would Almost Bankrupt Wwe Now..
Too bad that store got turned into a dollar general

Booker T cannot laugh at himself...he is humourless....He was offended when a comic made fun of him...How is that being able to laugh at yourself?
