If I were buying a boat, and that would need a lotto win, I would definitely go straight to James for the deal. I trust him..seems a really nice and funny geezer..
Quality upfront definitely pays off in the long run. This is in great condition for it's age and is a credit to the quality of Fairline yachts. Great tour thank you.
That wood work is still immaculate. If the engines are still in good shape you will have many years of pleasure with this boat. Bring it to the Med and you will have fun all summer long.
Another informative tour of a classic Fairline 46 that still has the 21st century lines, James. If it was my boat I would get a complete refit of the bedrooms and the lounge area/ galley to bring it upto date, aside from that it's an excellent boat for her age.
Buy quality and not what the current fad is. Explorer yachts are all the rage right now. But in 15 years, people will say they are dated looking and won't want them. There is a reason that the superyacht sharp style design, or the wedding cake style has stood the test of time. A quality yacht, even an Explorer yacht needn't look like a battleship or a tanker. If the quality of the hull allows you to traverse the globe, carry what you want on board, then get it so that way in 10-20 years, the style is timeless. Same thing for smaller boats. Everything is going electric, but classic diesel powered yachts that have the range to take you to more places than just the neck dock to,power up for 3 hours, will be more appealing for quite a while. And a quality boat doesn't break apart.
It certainly a dinger of a boat James. Quality stands the test of time. My Mrs stuck her head in just as you were doing your bit with the lazerette hatch. What's a Lazerus?, she asked me. 😂 Ye gotta love em.
'Buy quality, buy once'. Sage words. James, I do wish you would - when presenting these older gems - include a reference to total engine hours. Marine electronics have zoomed up in capability but not cost, but maintaining engines only gets more expensive. Routine maintenance doesn't refer to rebuilding injectors, as one small example. Good price, tho'.
I like gloss finishing but not so much the cherry. Nice starter boat I suppose and was surprised at the cost. Actually liked the boat next to it more. I also loved the Capri, nearly had a 2.8i (I think thats what was there) but never had one, actually got a VW Sirocco GT instead lol.
Quality costs and is worth it. If the boat would be lesser quality, how much additional $$ over the years would have been needed to keep it in that condition?
I recently bought a Mercedes Benz Sl from a main dealer…..my mates said oh you payed to much,,,,nah 2 year warranty = piece of mind buy cheap buy twice 😂😂
James, just out of interest, in ‘real terms’ what was the price of this boat when you sold it new 20 years ago. Anywhere close to current asking price of £230k.
@@Boatscoukwell a 76% residual value after 20 years, means paying a premium for quality certainly pays off in my book. Big dilemma of course is deciding whether Fairline or Princess
That's a 150k boat. It may look good but all the electronics and appliances are out of date, and you never mentioned how many hours are on her? My guess is 800 to 1000, nearing the big ticket repairs. The new owners could easily drop another 75k as things go wrong and updated. After all that's been done, then its a 225K boat IMO.

I know nothing about boats and was thinking the same, he comes across as a bloke I would deal with.
If you want a boat - I am your man. I live, sleep and dream boats. 😃

🙏
She’s in great shape for 2 decades old. Buying quality up front is sure worth it.
I agree !

Timeless classic just like the capri looks great
2.8i if I'm not mistaken, used to be ferried about in one when I was a boy and it felt amazingly quick at the time 🙂
Love a capri
Very nice boat and socks. But i missed: BRING IN THE FENDERS🤣
Next time 😂

Yes it can cost a few grand a year to keep them nice and. Work on about 3% on this value
I can envisage Peter Stringfellow coming up the stairs wearing a kimono.
😂😂
doubt your wallet would fit in there now...maybe the Laz 🤣
Top tour - love it!

Are we likely to see a tour of Ghost?
Is that the windy 31 zonda? Yes hopefully soon 😀
Just out of interest what are the berthing costs for Mallorca as an example
A boat like this would be about 35,000 euros per annum

I think about £300k - I cannot exactly remember
