- JK Rowling has been reported to the police by trans broadcaster India Willoughby over “misgendering” her on social media.
The Harry Potter author became embroiled in an online row with Willoughby, in which she referred to the transgender newsreader, Loose Women host and former Big Brother contestant as a “man” and with “he” pronouns.
Willoughby, who was born male and underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2015, made a complaint to police over Rowling’s posts on X claiming she had “definitely committed a crime”.
The broadcaster, who holds a gender recognition certificate, claimed to be “legally a woman”, although Rowling pointed out there was no law which compelled her to “pretend” that Willoughby was a woman.

J Rowling knows the law. She wouldn’t break it. Reporting hurt feelings to the police will just get him laughed at.

I wouldn't have believed it until I watched how my wife was treated when she became visibly pregnant in our historically gay neighborhood of West Hollywood. There has always been misogyny past off as sassy gay men being catty but once pregnant it got clearly nasty. Obviously not from all but it was shocking to see how frequently the insults happened, just for walking too slowly or for daydreaming in a checkout line, specifically from transwomen.

To define a thing, the definition must exclude other things. The definition of a Woman is "an adult female person"; this EXCLUDES girls, cats, trucks, plants, houses, etc., and of course, MEN. Would it make sense if I said the definition of transgender includes "cis" people who don't believe in trans ideology? Can a trans woman also be a trans man? Of course not. Definitions MATTER, especially in law & policy. This is why women will NEVER stop fighting to keep the legal definition of who we are and that definition will always exclude men.
