I retired from a utility, a natural gas company, and the guys who did pipe fitting on high pressure lines would put pipe dope on the threads, and then wrap teflon tape over that. They told me that pipe dope alone would get blown out of the threads by the high pressure (over 100#) but the teflon tape would prevent that.
"Amen and Hallelujah!" The 'lac runs again! Shout-out to Cousin Baylon for helping with the carbs and wiring. You've got a ways to go yet, but just hearing that 454 is inspiring. It reminds me of my Caprice wagon back in the day - you know, I once outran a Lincoln Mk. 7 with her? The kid that got his doors blown off asked me what I had. When I said "454", he said "I thought so", and gave me a 👍. Have a great Thanksgiving!
Precisly @31:05; I got the biggest smile on my mug ... BIGGEST SMILE ... I've had all week! Reminds me of that old movie; "The Bride of Frankenstein" ... I even shouted; "SHE LIVES❗️" 😂
Waylon, anyone who is a Kentucky Headhunters fan is all right! If you ever get a chance to see them live, GO! They are better onstage than they are in the studio. And just a bunch of good guys. They're our kind of people!
Cool on the switch install for grave yard dead (now is it fire prof) easy to get to if something catastrophic happens? Wylon grate content totally love the refurb - restore you are doing with this beauty and beast.
Great video this evening Ken and Noah. I'm glad you are pumping Noah's head full of usable knowledge that he will use down the road. I can't wait to see the ole dosealac back on the road again.
It is so good to hear it run again! And, many moons ago, I saw the Kentucky Headhunters at the Hampton Coliseum, in Hampton, Va, when I was in the US Navy, they put on a great show! I don't know how much adjustment you'll have to do on the carburetors; I bet it'll idle right around 700rpm.
Well, brother proud of your perserverance ! Hard work does pay off!!! Now try to prevent these automotive disasters, then you will have more time to cruise and less work time, I sure do “Preciate ya!”
A well driller/pump man told me years ago that he would always use teflon tape on the threads then plumbers pipe dope with teflon. I’ve tried it and it works great!
Hi Ken Well done you are now so close to the finish that you can smell it, Hope its ok to make a comment the cables that go through the firewall there is no rubber grommets, Cut some small hose pipe slice one side slip over cable slide through wall hope this is helps you and your subscribers. Great video thanks from UK.
every wire and cable that goes through the cab has grommets.. I filmed installing them but then about an hour of video got edited out. thanks for watching!
Will it run again is like asking if the Pope is a Catholic. And I subscribed to Baylon’s channel. And I have lived for this day. Thank you for letting me tag along.
Them mountains look like Eastern WA. Much ❤ from western WA. Thanks for the schooling I wish I would’ve received back when my grandpa was still around.
Hey Waylon colt from colt builds it said if you use some cheep grease and brush it on both sides of your cut off wheel it would stop your from clogging up and cut way better. I have not tried it yet but he says it works real well on aluminum. Give it a try aye!
Your a great man Waylon! Your channel is the only one that iv ever commented on! I really appreciate the rebuild on your ol red square body! I grew up with them my dad bought a new truck every year from 73 to 77 all gmc's the last one was amazing he put a lil over 600k on it before the Oregon coast salt air finally ate it away! I sure do love your tenacity to stick thru it all you got nailed bad on those two rigs I'm dually impressed! Happy thanksgiving sir!
Your big block is supposed to have a bypass hose between the intake manifold and water pump. It helps to keep from forming air locks in the system. I can see the port right there behind your water pump! Your "auxiliary cooler" can run from the manifold to the top side of the rad. But realistically you shouldn't need it
Hi Ken, as the saying goes you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am with you on soldering the connections as I'm not a fan of crimped fittings. Cheers and keep smiling.
Aux cooling on the heater circut is a good idea. Like turning on the heater when you're running hot. I've done that with a heater core strapped in front of the radiator. The Subaru radiator in the front should keep you cool enough for parades.
I hope it helps.. thing is.. it never got hot in traffic.. i could sit at a red light on a 105 degree day and no problems.. but every time I pulled this canyon coming home..it would be 220.. its a climb from 800 ft elevation up to 2400 in 5 miles.. some of it 10.5 % grade.. so I'm hoping this will help the issue
Ken, I searched for Baylon's channel and the "Search" only showed me the Video's that you created....... Not sure what that is about but I tried to "Sub" to his channel but could not find it?!?!?!?!

you have force youtube to find his stuff.. I told him copying my name was doing him more harm than good haha..
Things will probly get done alot quicker if you don't change clothes every 10 mins, WTH !!!!
Yeah! I seen that!🤔🤣
hummm.. could it be that this was filmed over a 3 week period? lol
c'mon man! lol
Little by little 👍
Well heck, I had a milestone just the other day.... and I bent the dang rim to...
Was that really Gasket Shellac on the water pump
absolutely! I like the challenge when it has to be removed haha.. but it wont leak!
Where is that young man going to find a match book???
ill hand mine down .. family heirloom
❤️👍👍👍👍
adding solder to a crimp connector makes the wire brittle and more prone to breakage...
its on the very tip of the wire.. never had one break because of it but ive only done it for 50 years haha.. thanks for watching!
why don't you use solder connections and shrink tube for your connections
I do .. TONS of it
It sounds like you took the cam out of it don't sound as good as it used to
oh..it sounds about the same.maybe not over the internet..but I can tell. its just not dialed in.. ive not touched the rebuilt carbs yet..
