I remember those years, except there was no equality. Black people were still being arrested by cops so they could be used as slave labor in private prison. Women were getting paid less then men. And the LBGT+ was constantly under threat of violence.
MrGoblin1000 Those were just lies and exaggerations stirred up by the media. White people are more likely to get shot, identifying as gay is a lifestyle choice, and women only get paid less because they typically work less demanding jobs. Men have a higher suicide rate, higher chance of dying on the job, more homeless people are men, white people cant get scholarships just because they’re white, white people arent allowed to say certain words, normal people are being marginalized because they aren’t a minority..? Don’t tell me about inequality.
MrGoblin1000 I guess what I was saying is that at least back then, we were on the right track, but now all people are doing is supporting further discrimination, we’re segregating people more than we were then, all the while these people say they’re fighting for equality. NOBODY is fighting for equality anymore.

+John Boles Hi John, while the college is located in Michigan, this was at an event that took place in Palm Springs, CA. It is part of the National Leadership Seminar: www.hillsdale.edu/outreach/nls
+Profound You have all the left-wing terminology down. Very good. Some interesting points, but are they true? Here's some facts versus emotions: 1) The United States was not a country in 1619. It did not exist until 1776 and technically until the end of the War of Independence in 1781, so it cannot be blamed for any slavery that occurred in 1619. But why pick 1619? Because that was the year that African slaves were brought to Virginia? Virginia at that time was a British colony, so why not complain to the UK about slavery then? 2) Slavery existed for thousands of years before 1619, including African slavery. The Atlantic slave trade began around 1498, but that wouldn't have existed if not for the much older Muslim slave trade of Africans that stretched all across Sub-Saharan Africa. Slavery is authorized in the Quran, which is why slavery still exists today in Muslim countries. 3) So counting from 1776 to 1865, slavery legally existed in the United States for 89 years. Jim Crow laws existed in the South, mainly after Plessy v Ferguson in 1896. Before that many blacks had been elected to office, even in the South. Yes, there was a lot of racism then, but racism is different than the institutionalized racism of laws mandating racism. As you note, the 1965 Civil Rights Act outlawed legalized racism in this country. The last racist laws that survived the Civil Rights Act, laws banning interracial marriage, were tossed out two years later in Loving v Virginia. Sadly, today some of the most racist people against interracial marriage are black, and they adopt the same language that the Klan used. Talk about irony. 4) The people who survived slavery, real, actual slavery, like Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman, would have been appalled by today's fascistic PC culture that dominates college campuses. They were strong people who fought and put their own lives at risk to do what was right in an age where real white supremacy existed. Today there is no legalized white supremacy. None. Zero. They fought racial segregation and for equality under the law. Today, black students on many campuses want segregation all over again. Douglass and Tubman would be horrified to see black students march into a college library and scream at white students who are studying and doing them no harm. 5) I'm not old enough to have experienced segregation, but my mother-in-law was, and she knew that what existed then and what exists now have nothing in common. 6) "Whitesplaining" is a racist term just as if someone were to say "Blacksplaining." Facts and truth don't have color or race. If a white college professor talks about slavery, is he wrong because of his skin color? That's racist. 7) Jim Crow and slavery don't undergird all black Americans. Before Black Lives Matter existed, most black Americans did not believe that racism played a major role in their lives according to polls. Yes racism exists, but it did not affect them personally. Many black people grow up in neighborhoods where kids are told that if they do well in school or speak a certain way they're "acting white." This kind of mentality is far more damaging than slavery which ended in this country a hundred and fifty years ago and Jim Crow laws that they never experienced. Plus many black people immigrate here from Africa and places like Jamaica and Haiti and experience great success. There are also American-born blacks such as Oprah and Ben Carson who do well, as well as CEOs, senators, congressmen and women, mayors, police chiefs, and even a United States president. 8) Finally, Ben Shapiro's speech wasn't about the history of racism in this country, but about the prevalence of left-wing political correctness on college campuses. If he were to have done both, then his presentation might have doubled in time. Since everyone acknowledges that slavery and Jim Crow laws existed it wasn't necessary for him to talk about them. Political correctness isn't just about that anyway, it's also about radical feminism, gay rights, trans rights, abortion, etc. Was he to have given a complete history about all those things too?
All have been through struggles...we have to see ourselves as survivors and overcomers...not victims. We overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Keep fighting the good fight of faith.
This is why Yeshua said to Nicodemus, "You must be born again." John 3 If you have been born again, have crucified your selfish nature, and have been filled with the Holy Spirit you will not be a narcissistic emotionally stunted human being.
Ben is in his element with this crowd. Rational, thinking people Not childish 30 yr old college victims. He actually loosened up and added a lot of humor. ALL venues should be like this.
I gotta ask, every excellent speaker presentation I have watched from Hillsdale college here on UA-cam, the audience consists of older people. Where are the students in attendance? Can anyone enlighten me?
It's only a guess, but my thought is that the attendees are supporting alumni, or folks of means that support the mission of the college. Hillsdale accepts NO governmental aid, as they don't want to be beholding to a variety of governmental requirements, so yes, they are expensive, (in addition to being a quality school). Like Barbara Creel suggests, watch more speeches. You will likely see younger people scattered in the audiences. I might suggest the one with Larry Elder having to do with the civil rights movement. He is a fun watch.
When I was in college in the mid 1980's and one spring term that was 4 classes that each was a mid term, a final and a paper I did not get 3 A's and 1 B off anybodies efforts but mine. I had no privilege it took lots of hard work. And when I took, and passed, 2 statistics classes that were listed 2nd year/3rd year but in the instructors opinion after teaching the classes many times were actually 4th year/post graduate level, it took lots of hard work to pass those. Again no privilege.
It would be entertaining if someone made a skit video of two students trying to have a conversation without using micro-agressions LOL I'd imagine having a meaningful conversation without using any would be pretty difficult...nearly impossible
Hillsdale College is an actual college while PragerU is a joke of an organization that fails to pretend to have any semblance of what “conservatism” is. Hillsdale, rather, is a school that teaches one how to begin to be human: discovering truth, beauty, and the good. Hillsdale students seek to truly preserve morality and contemplation in our society.
Humza Hussaini no it doesn’t seem to be. It’s just a conservatively oriented institution that preserves the right to disagree with the prevailing political madness in the current socialist landscape of universities today. I understand that this can be confusing to people. But the fact is that a majority of Americans hold or at least appreciate the validity of some, if not most of these views. 95% of the media promotes about 40% of the ideology held in the US. The conflation of subjective verbal offense with objective violence and the resulting attempts to justify subjective violence as an acceptable retaliation for political disagreement is an unfortunate move for the left by the left. The “feelings brigade” will not fair well in the street fight they are starting against the traditional right. As a middle-grounder without a horse in this race per se, I think the violence some of the left is pushing will only invite the retaliation of those better suited to victory by the rules being rewritten.
Zachary Dickerson Zachary Dickerson I am a student at Hillsdale, and you’re about half there. While everything you mention is an aspect of why students choose our school, the goal behind our education runs much deeper than that. We come as freshman immediately studying the minds of Classical thinkers to build a closer understanding of Truth. The College reflects a very anti-postmodernism view of the way our society works. While you may never be indoctrinated with a state funded socialist education here, that is only the bare surface of our education. We emphasize the importance of learning Western Heritage, Philosophy, Theology, and many other humanities that traditionally reflect a liberal arts education.
I am fairly liberal, I have heard nothing in this speech that I disagree with. I think that Shapiro has hit the nail on its head.

@@johnjohnson201 well you're a brainwashed little Nazi aren't ya.
MrGoblin1000 You’re *actually* stupid. I rant about being pro-equality, and you call me a Nazi? Hopefully in time you’ll learn that liberals literally are modern nazis. Have you heard of AntiFa?
Is that at Hillsdale College in Michigan or near LA Calif?
+John Boles Hi John, while the college is located in Michigan, this was at an event that took place in Palm Springs, CA. It is part of the National Leadership Seminar: www.hillsdale.edu/outreach/nls
Isn't that where Professor Ned Brainerd invented flubber?

All things which were abolished 50-150 years ago.
For some reason you don't list the SAT credit blacks got.

You have all the left-wing terminology down. Very good. Some interesting points, but are they true? Here's some facts versus emotions:
1) The United States was not a country in 1619.
+Profound Are you going to respond to Frodojack comments?
1:28 The crowd makes it look like he is speaking at a retirement home, not a college campus.
I don't understand how this place is a college?
Educators & faculty
+Jordan Wendt It wasn't at the college.
There the only ppl left who are racist and closed minded enough to like him
A framed map of Hillsdale College used to hang on the back wall of the Temple in Ocean Park, Maine.
Ugh why can't you run for president Ben American needs you badly
He still has 3 years left until he's old enough to run for presidency
+Max S they really need to change that policy if he was to run he'd definitely get conservative millennial's to vote and not cower away from voting
We need him like we need a new STD
I got this video as a google advertisement. How obvious does it need to be for people that this isn't the authentic right wing?
@אני עומד ע ישראל! I love MERICA! America First is.
The only thing I can't understand about the dog poop story is that how the blind girl managed to find and collect her dog's poop on the first place.
+Igor “Ahoy” I've been thinking about that too, wouldn't it get rather messy?
Igor, that was the first thing I thought as well...
Carefully.

This man makes politics interesting
My view of Ben is a love, hate relationship.
My view of Ben is a hate, hate relationship.
My view of Ben Shapiro went feom being love/love to love/hate to hate/hate. The Libertarian Pipeline is real.
What he is is a Israeli jew attempting to gain american political support through "exposing" the already exposed left ideology.
@Evgeny Nosachenko never been there
Chi Rho explain please I’m curious
All have been through struggles...we have to see ourselves as survivors and overcomers...not victims.
We overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
Keep fighting the good fight of faith.
He was spot on that Hillary would get off scot free
What the heck happened @13:38?
I noticed that too, and nobody seems to be talking about it. Just curious.
Right! Really strange.
Thank you Mr. Shapiro!
That was excellent. Thank you.
Everything you say can (at least so far as I'm watching) can be seen in South Africa as well.
Yep. Shapiro for president. I really enjoy Jordan Peterson too, but Ben has such a quick mind and ability to explain things in absolute clarity.
ben is a john Wayne .... need that guy at the gun fight...sure wish he would take an office
You think this doughy conman wouldnt piss himself under fire?
He's not John Wayne
He's one of the truly gifted thinkers in America. He's Brilliant.
I would still have to say Jesus is the absolute revolutionary aginst the system of this world
Baked Tater Grizzly Adams did it better
I do not know you and nor did i send a comment to offend.
But yes grizzly did it better lol
Do you have a copy of this speech.?
This is why Yeshua said to Nicodemus, "You must be born again." John 3
If you have been born again, have crucified your selfish nature, and have been filled with the Holy Spirit you will not be a narcissistic emotionally stunted human being.
Heaven Sent; Well said. Bravo.
Heaven Sent judge much? I do not see him that way at all. God bless him Lord.
KJ Are you judging me because you misinterpreted my comment? Who did you think I was referring to?
15:33 Not trying to be funny, but I'm from the 80's! I feel LOST! Can Anyone explain what in Lainmens Terms is "Going On"? Thanks in Advance! :)
8:16 I felt that.

Stephen Henderson watch more speeches.
13:39 YT censored something out?
Sorry Ben but I demand honesty from my instructors
You dont get it
Why is the crowd mostly older people? I would hope for some students there.
It would be entertaining if someone made a skit video of two students trying to have a conversation without using micro-agressions LOL I'd imagine having a meaningful conversation without using any would be pretty difficult...nearly impossible
A MUST WATCH - ONE OF BEN'S BEST VIDEOS
Next best video. Me taking a dump.
This dude is awesome.
Ben's Bernie has gotten much better!
WE LOVE BEN!
Why did I get this add?
Is Hillsdale College just washed down PragerU?
'tis.
@@cbrodeo5935 Yeah Nah I think I'll just stick with science thanks.
Why are there only old people in the audience? Is today's youth this lost?
There easily distracted by all the free stuff they are promised
I vote Trump, but if this man ran for president in 2014, I'd fully support him.
And he is an Extremely accomplished Violinist!!!
Why am I not surprised
Maybe he can play it at the GOP'S funeral.
