That is the look of vampires when they "release the beast within". Vlad is capable of turning into a giant direwolf as well as a bat. the Vampire Wars novels give some insight to it. Same for Manfred. They were both described as looking similar to each other and being of aquiline features with black hair. Of course this is before either of them is defeated during their respective campaigns against the Empire, so maybe there resurrection could have done something permanent to their appearance that I am not aware of.

For those curious, it seems the lords traits do transfer to each other. As in, Vlad (hero) transfers vanguard deployment to Isabella's (lord) army. Also Izzy starts with a Varghulf instead of Blood Knights. Edit: Also, whoever is the hero starts with all their items. Vlad (hero) has both the Blood Drinker and the Carstein Ring.

I do think it would have been cool if there was a Mod like Sylvanian Mortal Levies for Warhammer 3. Allows Vlad and Isabella to recruit living human units since Vlad IS the rightful Elector Count of Sylvania.
Vlad and Isabella are my go to power couple as well. So nice that he finally gets Castle Drakenhof from the beginning. Love the new city fights with the Gothic look. So much more interesting to fight the Undead Civil War in Sylvania now.

The Black Coach's self-buffs now trigger off of total kills by the unit, instead of amount of time in melee. Should make it easier to use like an actual chariot!
Great video, I really like the cinematic replays of some of the battles! A lot more interesting to watch the action up close than watching from a tactical view.
I like how you highlight the art and detail. Refreshing. Too many streamers are trying to impress with their mad clicking skillz, tired of that because it always fails to impress with me since I already know how to play the game (+1500hrs). You have my vote good sir.
I play Vampires strictly for the raise dead mechanic. A large enough pile of corpses puts your army generation/regeneration on a level other factions can't hope to match.
The Warriors of Chaos new Warband recruitment mechanic is essentially raise dead. Raise Dead is now based off a combination of vampiric corruption level and battle markers from massive death in the area, where as the Warband mechanic is based on amount and types of chaos corruption in an area and the terrain types (for example mountain areas with a lot of undivided chaos corruption have high chances of offering Dragon Ogres).
I would love to see a more lore friendly rework of them where by army size and unit costs is directly tied to necromancy skill. So an Vampire Army consist of few Vampires and Necromancers and everything else is chaff that is directly attached to these Necromancers/Vampires. They could reuse the Lord/Army system from Three Kingdoms but with customization Unit composition.
I maybe a few months late the party but HELL YES!!! Vlad + Isabella are my favorite factions of this series, so glad I found a Warhammer 3 playthrough of them

While I do main elves (of the dark and high variety), Vampire counts are my next favorite race to play. Glad to see Vlad finally kicked his stupid nephew out of the castle so he doesn't have to start in a minor settlement and get wiped out by turn 30.
It was always so odd having to immediately kill off Mannfred. At the very least forced vassalage should have originally been built into the faction; its lore-accurate for vampires.
Buddy of mine just started Isabella, and is super frustrated that everyone seems to have declared war on him and won't leave out even after he's beat them up.
Same here, any changes in the dynamics of the VC campaign get me very excited. I'm still very tempted to go back and finish that one, but constantly switching between the two very slightly different UIs and systems was making me incredibly confused.

the towers fall to the charge buff rather quick. Charge, do your damage and back off to charge again. Rinse and repeat. Well, let me clearify. The bats attack bonus is pretty low meaning it cant hurt a tower. Swing and miss so to speak. With the Charge Attack buff, the bats can take out towers pretty quick. Makes sense really, towers would not be worth building if bats could just tear them apart with no effort. With the micro management, makes the towers a little more worth building.
@@RuinousInsight Does admin mean the administration of the citys and armies? I do really like that. I mean, I do like battles also, the battles in TWWH can be great, I just dont like watching battles from other people out of bird's eye view.
Yeah, the overworld / empire building administration aspect as opposed to the fights. I defs understand about not enjoying watching ants fight from above without seeing the glorious spectacle, haha.
Isabella as lord with vlad as hero might be my first campaign. Early making insane bat swarms and later maybe give kemmler vlad to make the best cairn wraiths possible and finally have some beast spells in different army's. 👻
@@RuinousInsight imo, Vlad's campaign bonuses are nowhere near as good as Isabella's, and both get their lord bonuses while in battle so... You still get vanguard deployment either way, but Izzy gets those extra, and more powerful, vamp ladies.
I take Waldenhof after the first settlement and vassal them. Thats best way to avoid extra mistakes AI controls armies on Legendary difficulty n they recruit a lot of units surely them being an AI.. yup helps a lot their armies arent as strong as yours against other legendary lords but they surely do keep your enemies back especially when your fighting dwarfs a lot of help really
It looks like you have to have Vampires of the Coast DLC to get the Mournguls. I don't have that DLC and I don't see Mournguls on Tree. I really wish they would they would put DLC requirements on the Units like they do the Lords. Vargheists are very similar anyway but it seems silly to require that DLC for Mourguls.
I have a question on casters in an army. Should you have more than one character who can cast in one army since they use the same magic pool? You can cast 2 spells back to back, but you burn through winds and reserves faster. I never knew what the best option was. So with vampire counts I would put a necro in Vlad’s army and not give Vlad magic.
In WH3 due to the winds of magic nerfs and nerfs to characters skills and items it is usually only worth having 1 magic user unless you need multiple casters to cover different types of magic (i.e. a healing caster and a damage caster in an army) Multiple casters no longer provide you with more magic just faster speed of your limited reserve being added to your usable amount. Some factions have mechanics where multiple casters in an army provide a boost to spell intensity (a new mechanic that applies a multiplier boost to spell damage) nut in most cases it's not worth. In the case of vampire counts, if your wanting a vampire hero doomstack which is a common thing when playing Isabella you'd just build up the casting lines of Isabella for Lore of Vampires, one each of Shadow and Death on the heroes and then spec the rest out to be full melee. although eventually just do to the higher skill cap the heroes will end up with all skills anyway. In the case of the new Vlad campaign you could focus melee on him and casting on Isabella.
I wouldn't discount having multiple units for item use, especially anything that adds power reserve. Some mage heroes have stacking buffs that are quite powerful, too, that makes it worth it to bring more than one. That said, from purely a casting perspective, for most factions I would only bring one mage. Vamp heroes are extremely strong, however, so they have a leg up on other casters. More the exception than the rule.
I wonder if Isabellas traits that improve "Vampire" heroes work on Vlad (when he is a hero)? Those would be some dope af buffs if true... Her faction trait really does seem quite a bit nicer than Vlad's. Interesting.
Huh... interesting, I didn't even consider whether he would count as a vampire hero for the purposes of that buff. Would be very interesting, if a little odd, if Vlad is then significantly stronger as a vampire hero than as a vampire lord.

Its not that relevant to me that it's gross overkill (20 vamps in one army really serves no practical purpose... buffing them even more at that point is just fun.) So I want to make clear. This si not advice lol. I didn't use free skeleton spamm in 2 either, objectively it was the best.

Vlad looks like that because thats literally how much his face has Degraded over time. Like all Undead they wont die but their bodies simply decay. They can use magic to sustain beauty, but Vlad does not care. Why? Because his wife Isabella loves him no matter how he looks, no matter what he does. That love is what made Vlad, the Vlad we know and love. Isabella comparatively wasnt strong, even against other Vampire Lords, but taht wasnt the point. The point was that with a single word from Isabella, Vlad would come and exterminate your entire bloodline. Isabella is the Brain, Vlad is the muscle.
Just getting into your campaigns and they are some of the best on youtube! One question though, what are the "cinematic battles"? you dont seem to be controlling the units. is it just the replay of a battle you did but mixed into the video so you can play it without the UI?
should be kinda same-y as their old campaign. Still want to see with the new Hero mechanic. Crypt ghouls used to be alive in earlier editions, but I think as of 7th, they were undead
Hmm, interesting re the TT. Lore-wise, though, they're alive. They just run back to ruins and ghoul hovels when they lose, they're not like puppets with their strings cut.
Hum before you could have free zombies in Warhammer 2, it was the way to go. Now you seems to be able to make skeleton and ghouls more viable. I like the change that I have seen so far. Can wait to play and conquer the immortal empire!
So, if Isabella starts as a lord when you play as Vlad, what happens if you're not playing as a vamp? Specifically, the trait for killing Vlad/Isabella, how would that work if only 1 is a lord? If the other is a hero in a battle, does killing them get you the trait? What if they're not put in an army by the AI?!
I assume you only get the defeat trait for the lord - and not the hero at all. I don't recall getting Isabella's trait last time I encountered Vlad as an enemy lord.
Please do your best to confederate Ghorst as soon as possible. His skill tree buffs for zombies are all faction wide and make zombies into ridiculously overpowered units which means you can spam out cheap zombie stacks to handle all your territory defense and taking out minor factions while Vlad handles the more important/flavorful objectives.
im looking to learn how to play vampire counts but need to know if you are you a good player or not first so I can chose to watch your playthrough or not. would appreciate an answer :) thank you
it would be awesome if the vampire lords can transform, like the Dragons do, instead of having mounts or with the option of deferring the mount.... but that's just my wishful thinking
That's what I was looking for, proper Von Carstein content. They still need DLC I am glad CA buffed certain units, nerfed Bloodlines unfortunately. I hope Vampire Counts will get Bloodlines DLC same as Chaos champions, with new rework, remodeling/retexturing some old stuff, new tech tree and mechanics, most of all new models for Bloodlines.
Agreed. At least they added mournguls! Never made any sense they couldn't recruit them but the vampirates could. [starts ranting about them not being aquatic creatures again]
I noticed that when I'm playing as Vlad he has loremaster of vampires and Isabella doesn't, making him the better caster yeah? Cause its cheaper and recharges faster
Most definitely not certain. That said, when bats are hovering over the tower if you watch the damage it can drop down to 0, which doesn't feel right. And the trickle is way too little.
@@RuinousInsight very true, it's strange. I definitely feel charge bonus was part of the massive 2k damage drop, but you're right in that the damage drop-off is way too massive for that to be the issue

Does vlad count as an embedded VAMPIRE hero? Because if he does then not starting as isabella is stupid. 25% damage for vlad + the two embedded in her army effects for melee and I think it was defence.

There was a lot of debate when TW1 came out re Vlad's look. I always figured that it is because he chooses to.

@Dácio Nunes I am aware, I do it because I like it. Bigger number big nice. Its not that relevant to me that it's gross overkill (20 vamps in one army really serves no practical purpose... buffing them even more at that point is just fun.)

Vlad looks like that because thats literally how much his face has Degraded over time. Like all Undead they wont die but their bodies simply decay.
They can use magic to sustain beauty, but Vlad does not care. Why? Because his wife Isabella loves him no matter how he looks, no matter what he does. That love is what made Vlad, the Vlad we know and love. Isabella comparatively wasnt strong, even against other Vampire Lords, but taht wasnt the point. The point was that with a single word from Isabella, Vlad would come and exterminate your entire bloodline. Isabella is the Brain, Vlad is the muscle.

Razor standard is op on blood knights because of their low base amour piercing damage.
Just getting into your campaigns and they are some of the best on youtube! One question though, what are the "cinematic battles"? you dont seem to be controlling the units. is it just the replay of a battle you did but mixed into the video so you can play it without the UI?
should be kinda same-y as their old campaign. Still want to see with the new Hero mechanic. Crypt ghouls used to be alive in earlier editions, but I think as of 7th, they were undead
Hmm, interesting re the TT. Lore-wise, though, they're alive. They just run back to ruins and ghoul hovels when they lose, they're not like puppets with their strings cut.

Hum before you could have free zombies in Warhammer 2, it was the way to go. Now you seems to be able to make skeleton and ghouls more viable. I like the change that I have seen so far. Can wait to play and conquer the immortal empire!
Don't write off zombies , may be unentended but check out the 19 zombie doom stack with Ghorst and his million hp regen pool.
You should do a lizardmen campaign next, haven’t seen one for Immortal Empires yet.

So, if Isabella starts as a lord when you play as Vlad, what happens if you're not playing as a vamp?
Specifically, the trait for killing Vlad/Isabella, how would that work if only 1 is a lord?
If the other is a hero in a battle, does killing them get you the trait? What if they're not put in an army by the AI?!
I assume you only get the defeat trait for the lord - and not the hero at all. I don't recall getting Isabella's trait last time I encountered Vlad as an enemy lord.
@@RuinousInsight that sucks, especially since Isabella gives regeneration as her defeat trait...that's good on ANY lord!
Please do your best to confederate Ghorst as soon as possible. His skill tree buffs for zombies are all faction wide and make zombies into ridiculously overpowered units which means you can spam out cheap zombie stacks to handle all your territory defense and taking out minor factions while Vlad handles the more important/flavorful objectives.

it would be awesome if the vampire lords can transform, like the Dragons do, instead of having mounts or with the option of deferring the mount.... but that's just my wishful thinking

That's what I was looking for, proper Von Carstein content. They still need DLC I am glad CA buffed certain units, nerfed Bloodlines unfortunately.
I hope Vampire Counts will get Bloodlines DLC same as Chaos champions, with new rework, remodeling/retexturing some old stuff, new tech tree and mechanics, most of all new models for Bloodlines.
Agreed. At least they added mournguls! Never made any sense they couldn't recruit them but the vampirates could. [starts ranting about them not being aquatic creatures again]

I noticed that when I'm playing as Vlad he has loremaster of vampires and Isabella doesn't, making him the better caster yeah? Cause its cheaper and recharges faster

27:20 are you certain that big damage/small trickle isn't just the application of charge bonus vs it's normal strength?
Most definitely not certain. That said, when bats are hovering over the tower if you watch the damage it can drop down to 0, which doesn't feel right. And the trickle is way too little.
@@RuinousInsight very true, it's strange. I definitely feel charge bonus was part of the massive 2k damage drop, but you're right in that the damage drop-off is way too massive for that to be the issue

Nothing of significance. If anything the main change was this one where they unified him and Isabella into a single army.

Does vlad count as an embedded VAMPIRE hero? Because if he does then not starting as isabella is stupid. 25% damage for vlad + the two embedded in her army effects for melee and I think it was defence.
I think Vlad as a hero doesn't give the diviner ability, so you lose a lot of early battlegear? Unsure if Izzy loses notable skills as a hero.
