We need a video on the 3.6 aswell because that is also a good engine.

I really appreciated your cost breakdown of the fuel vs ULEZ. That's the kind of maths I tend to do. My maths extends to the consideration of "preventative maintenance" between the two engines: you don't need for very much to go wrong with the TDV8, on top of your more regular oil changes, before that £1,500 a year gap closes.
Would you mind (or anyone for that matter) commenting on the actual range of both vehicles on a typical "long journey" basis?
By way of example my incredibly boring old C220d, from full, gives me a useable range of just over 500 miles - which is lovely. I don't really care about the poor mpg if the tank is big enough.

Hi we in Australia don’t have any DPF on our 4.4TDV8 vehicles…lucky!..Great Video as Usual🙂😁

Also in Australia. Our L494 Sport with the 4.4 SDV8 has the DPF but thankfully no add blue. The DPF Hasn't given any problems so far (touch wood). We love this machine.

Great video, that works for the ULEZ in England, in Scotland there is a blanket ban on any non euro 6 diesel now in all cities, there is no option to pay to enter the zones.

Great video James. This just confirms I made the right choice in my 2012 Westminster 4.4tdv8 😉 I'm also glad I live nowhere near a ULEZ zone, even though, as you say it shouldn't make much difference anyway.

Really useful info in this vid. I thought I was pretty well up on the various foibles, but I didn’t know about the drainage recall; was good to get your thoughts on that.

Interesting points covered here. I had the oil drain service bulletin done as part of the deal when I bought my 2012 4.4 in 2017 which I was happy about because it's not a no-charge bulletin and normally cost over €1000 at a main dealer. Still going strong now at 130k miles and I love it although I am about to have the oil cooler replaced as it's starting to leak slowly.

Did your "oil drain service" cure the clouds of accelleration smoke?

According to Harry Metcalfe the 3.6 feels quicker than the 4.4 tdv8 due to its turbos boosting together rather than sequentially and after you mentioned that it doesn't have a dpf, surely a facelift 3.6 is the sweet spot. Viideo on 3,6 please !

Yep. Boot it above 2500rpm regularly to drain the oil from the secondary turbo 😊
Much safer than drilling into the sump to tap for fitting the drain mod.
