Good effort, guys. Landrovers are a bit like your children. Sometimes their annoying, sometimes they surprise you and sometimes you want to drive them off a cliff. But at the end of the day, you love them and wouldn't change it for the world.
Tip: Most phones have a spirit level built in. Android for sure as I have used theirs called Bubble level. If you have an SE the TDV8 badge is usually right aligned with the SE badge, plain VOGUE is usually centred under the VOGUE badge and there is usually an oval LAND ROVER badge on the left for UK models as others have mentioned. L322 models seem to be a favourite across YT. Watching the surprisingly funny LR German couple fix a number of different "Landies" (constantly!).
Great video , made me laugh made me cringe ! ie when you started with the spanner trying to undo the nut the wrong way 🤣🤣🤣love your enthusiasm 👏👏, by the way did you drive up that hill ? 🤦♂️
Ignore the naysayers, Lucy, you know more about cars/RR then many others and you are giving it a go; well done you! BTW, the latching (if you can get them off) are replaceable as well as the straps. Try something like ‘shock unlock’ or ‘Blast’ that freezes and then (hopefully) helps break the seal; good luck
It’s great that you have the guts to give a new challenge a shot, Lucy. The only way to become a good DIYer is to have a red hot go and learn from mistakes. The guys having a moan will be experts on everything. You’ll find them boring for Britain in any front bar. I’m enjoying watching you working things out. Keep it going! Cheers from Dave in South Australia.
Plusgas will be better for rusty nuts/ bolts as it is a proper releasing spray, also when you use adjustable spanners the movable part should always face towards the direction you are trying to move the nut/ bolt. So in this case trying to undo the nut, the movable would be facing upwards as it helps to self tighten on the nut. Proper spanners or sockets are always the best option with rusty items as they grip better than an adjustable spanner, which can slip.
Hi Lucy nice video as usual, I have to say that you're definitely right about leaving the tail gate to the experts the amount of rust around the bolt's will make it a nightmare to do ,so good luck with it...cheers Phil from Newark
I subscribe the idea that a true car enthusiast is someone who enjoys everyone's passion a for all cars. They can be a rusty sh*tbox, or a pristine super car, a hot hatch, sports car or luxury SUV, heck, if someone is passionate and wants to enthuse about it, then a true car enthusiast will be there to share that passion. Any "you can't be a proper petrol head because 'X'" is just snobbery and not what a petrol-head should be.
Hello Lucy, your rear boot tie looks the same as mine did. You can use the long extention if you pull the rubber boot seal towards you it will come away from the car and give you room. Be very careful as these bolts can fail, so use lots of penetrent and small backwards and forwards movements. Good luck and keep going with your projects.
Reality for me is, yes your not a professional mechanic etc, but videos are decent, presentation is excellent, content is good especially for the RR L322 community and tbf most of us that watch you Lucy are have a go people so the fact your attempting things is great for us viewers, hence we keep returning to watch. You n George just keep the channel growing. All the best for the future
Hi Lucy I have the same car in Santorini black and my boot strap snapped I removed the soft close arm and cut the nipple off of and got an impact gun with a 13 mm socket and it came straight off
Strip looks way better…. If it comes off, and those tapes often do, use tiger seal & clamp or tape it in place for a few hours…..It’ll never come off again. Keep the badges off when they fall off though. I debadge everything I’ve ever owned. It’s all litter. Looks better clean.😊 Love the fact you’re not an expert - it makes it watchable & real…….love the journey and sod the haters. Keep up the good work it’s a lovely motor. 😊😊
@@jasonlewry3307 That strip is coming off on mine. Unfortunately it sits right where you grab the boot to close it and clearly the standard tape isn’t strong enough. Suspect that Lucy’s will work itself loose over time. I’ll give tiger seal a go when mine falls off.
Given the fact the cable for the bottom of the tailgate is rusted (This happens when you wash the car and dont dry the area properly, fun fun) I assume both the tailgates were also quite badly rusted and were replaced which explains the fresher paint and lack of badges.
Worked a dream on my dad’s mk2 gti - he took the rubber boot spoiler and front spoiler bib off as he wanted to replace them with smarter newer items, and took the gti badging off. Looked like a driver with 90 bhp, went like a gti wit( an extra 46 bhp (( was the 16v). He had a lot fewer ends of the bell c having around in the few weeks he ended up nailing around without th3 little badges and body addenda, he almost left it like that. However, neve4 understood de badging a Range Rover - everyone with reasonable hearing will know what it is, especially if it’s a petrol v8 without the visual clues!😊
I fully respect anyone willing to give something a go. 99% of people won't try to do something themselves. You don't need to be an expert and its more enjoyable watching people like you giving something a go, regardless of how successful you'll be. Keep it up!
I would take the wheels to a wheel refurbishment place and get them black chrome. Depending on how the light is , they may look black, then as the light changes they look a chrome colour, my C30 Volvo was done like that and it’s great.
Don’t listen to the grumpies Lucy, I love the L322 and may go back to one in the future. Your normal everyday approach is so relatable, I fiddle with stuff and come up against all the same questions and dilemma’s you do so it’s really enjoyable content. Keep it up, and well done George, keeping off all of those noisy leaves 🤣

I would say good chance the rear tailgate was painted, because it had rust, it would definitely have had rust by that age. I've not come across one without rust bubbles.

I have never understood why people on the Internet take other people's comments seriously. It is one thing if a person is identifiable and he has proven his professionalism. For example, Neil deGrasse Tyson. It's completely different to be some "boo2011" who hasn't even wiped his mother's milk from his mouth, or some "JamesSmit80" who still lives in his parents' basement, without a job and has never hammered a single nail into the wall in his life. If only experts did what they do, we still wouldn't even learn how to use a stick. Making mistakes is a learning process. It is not clear to many. And as always. Don't like it? Don't look. But this has not been understood since the times of campfire stories.
Well, you bought a 2010 Range Rover. You would have been better off making a pile of money in the middle of your floor and burning it every month. You'd have the same financial result, plus, you wouldn't have to drive a 14 year old Range Rover 😂😂

Probably just rip those bolts out and weld a plate for the new hardware.

How's the rear lower sill looking? If it's good, get the ACF50 or POR15 on it quick. That's more concerning than the rear end.
