    I have one of these big beautiful monsters and I love it! Keep practicing and you’ll get the hang of it.

    That was entertaining. I switched to film (almost exclusively) because digital was allowing me to be a lazy photographer. For most of us (i.e. not a 60's war or sports photographer with an infinite budget for film and developing), film is not fast. It slows us down and makes us work for the shot -- standing on things, laying on the ground, climbing -- and especially to nail exposure. It is work, but the result is better photography and less time on the computer choosing one of 300 photos from a digital. Film is a discipline that makes us learn to be better.

      I totally agree, the process can be really frustrating sometimes… but it is a very good training for sure.

    Awesome camera. Relax, I'm thinking you'll be fine after a couple more rolls. The camera will focus really well, I think you are using too slow shutter speed for the way you move around. (I've shot film for over 55 years)

    It seems that when you shot in portrait, you were holding the camera upside down. Your camera has a “vertical” grip which adds a second shutter button. It is designed to have the shutter button at the top in portrait mode. Have you discovered the vertical shutter button yet?

    I thought my Canon 7D with the battery grip mounted was huge, but after seeing that 1V, now I see my 7D as a tiny object. Awesome camera by the way!!

      I really enjoyed my 1V but still want to get a original battery for it to reduce the size and weight :( It’s gonna cost over $100 though, that’s why I still haven’t pull the trigger yet 🥹

      @MikeSowsun Рік тому

      Yes, get either the GR-E1 or GR-E2 “standard” grip as they both fit perfectly. The GR-E2 has some weather sealing but functions the same.

    the more I see these videos the more I want a canon 1V .. Because it has AutoFocus and self rewinding... currently I have a Canon Ftb camera .... Though my primary camera is EOS R6 .... I feel the AF in 1V will make me use it in more professional scenario without slowing down

    为什么在EOS 1V上使用EOS 5D mark IV的肩带?这和我在Nikon D3上使用Nikon F5的肩带不是一个原因吧?带竖拍手柄的相机,竖拍时使用竖拍手柄更舒服。

    Hi Sam, i have 2 of them, one is never used in the box, the another one is my working horse. yes it's big, fat and heavy but for me the best film camera ever made by Canon. There is a hype with leica film cameras i know it but it's not the same way to make pictures. you have AF on board its great for street and people photographie. perhaps you should use it without the booster so your 1V will be lighter to handle and carry around. Rgds Murat

      @itscapturedbysam  2 роки тому +1

      I was looking for a original batteries for this camera replace the grip, but haven’t purchased one yet. The only reason I would like to get something like Leica will be it’s size. People are more sensitive then they see a big camera like the Canon 1V, and a lot of the locations you will need permits to shoot. Smaller camera is just easier to hide, easier to pretend to be a regular tourist~ LOL

    There are actually three models of the EOS-1V series:
    1. ATG/Canon EOS-1V HSr
    2. Canon EOS-1V HS
    3. Canon EOS-1V
    Only the ATG can shoot up to 10fps using just AA batteries plus wireless radio camera trigger.
    So there is no way a Canon EOS-1V HS can shoot up to 10fps out of the box.
    Sam & eyeglasses users wearing mask, take out your glasses & adjust the 1V's diopter wheel, then you don't need to wear your glasses. Because the mask will fog up the glasses.

      when I say shooting 10 frames I mean shooting on digital camera. Sorry for the confusion... but still good to know :) Thank you!

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone 2 роки тому

      @@itscapturedbysam You purchased the Canon EOS-1V HS model. Many photographers shooting films have to be careful not firing in HS & HS2 modes (unless shooting sports /or wildlife). Film/develops/print = H costs
      Nevertheless, Sam, if you want to shoot up to 10fps reply back with your email. For now the HS is up to 6fps.
      You got a good buy for the 1V HS while many are fooled paying for 1V at the price mentioned.
      Well done on this video clips.

      The camera shots 10fps with the nickel-hydride battery pack not AA’s.

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone 2 роки тому

      @@bngr_bngr No way it can do 10fps unless you are using ATG or Canon's battery pack on Canon EOS-1VHS. So 8 AA will not get you 10fps. It's disabled 10fps.
      So pressing the Mode will not get the extra high speed icon of 10fps.

    Hey Sam, I just came across your channel recently, two points:
    1. Since you don't need the higher speed and larger battery, you might want to remove the grip which makes the 1V lighter to operate.
    2. I know it sounds backward, but you might want to purchase an older EOS 1D body (before 1D Mark III) to get used to the control and operation of the 1V without wasting films. The older 1D was directly developed from the 1V and had a lot of similarities. They are not overly expensive now on Ebay and you can gain your experience and confidence from the digital one before move to the film.

    • @itscapturedbysam
      @itscapturedbysam  2 роки тому

      I've been looking for a battery for the 1v in order to not use the grip, is the GR-E2 battery grip that I need to buy? I just looked it up, they are pretty pricy 🥲

    • @whatsoevertianyu
      @whatsoevertianyu 2 роки тому

      @@itscapturedbysam You are correct! moment after I clicked the reply, I realize you need the GR-E2 grip and one 2CR5 battery. Ye it is kind costly, so, I guess a little bit weight doesn't hurt the wallet.🤣

    There a lot of Canon V1 offered on eBay. I wonder why? Does someone brought off all Canon v1 as Canon wanted to get off the storage? I shot a Canon Eos 100 for ptetty low money. If you shoot in on fim you you often decide not touch the shutter button. 36 pics for a day must be enough. With film you always want to shoot the best one. Shooting digital makes you to shoot a lot if waste photos. Start shooting digital and thing analogue. Press the shotter only if you found the best picture.

      I think this camera is in production for quite a long time, as their flagship camera. Therefore there are whole a lot of it still in market…

    • @S4ran39
      @S4ran39 3 місяці тому

      Yeah, you'll find a lot of them around because they were THE Canon pro body right as digital was taking over the industry. A lot of working photographers who owned this camera were literally among the first early adopters of pro digital shooting in the early 2000s. I remember it well. Plus Canon made it cost effective because you could carry on using your EOS "L" lenses.
      The caveat here is that because these old film bodies were pro bodies, you can expect many of these cameras to have had hard lives...something to keep in mind if you're buying any pro body used.

    "the camera is very simple and easy to work with"
    Things could not be further from the truth. I had to download the pdf manual to my phone to setup my camera, including rear sync, back-button focusing, focus point limits, etc. It's impossible to operate the camera without the manual by your side until you memorize all the settings.
    What's worse, I cannot find an ES-E1 cable, rendering the P-Fn functions unadjustable, I can't even set the minimum shutter speed in Av mode without the cable!

    • @itscapturedbysam
      @itscapturedbysam  2 роки тому +2

      I use very a little functions of this camera since I only shoot manual mode and single focus point 😅, I'm sure there are whole a lot I can still learn from the user's guide, it's a flagship camera, there must be many thing this camera can do that I don't know of...when I say easy to work with I mean for me is was easy transition from Canon digital camera.

    Sam... I've said this for a few years, a successful photographer should learn to slow down and understand film. I'm 71, using a Lumix G9, Nikon D850, any film camera is a Hasselblad 503cx.
    Like your video's and keep up the good work you do. GRINS
