“Before The Storm”!! Hell yes, Pete. One of my absolute favorites from the guys and perhaps their most underrated track. They haven’t played it live since ‘83 (though Tate actually blew the dust off of it for several shows earlier this year). Great choices for your Top 10 list!

Queensryche is from my neighborhood!!! It's pretty cool to see them do so well. They're a little bit older than I am, but my buddy use to hang out with them because his brother was their age. One of their old men use to walk the neighborhood in Queensryche merch. When our friends came by they always asked what's up with the old man. The Verdict (and all of the Todd albums) is really good! I couldn't narrow down ten picks, so I decided to skip making my list this time and just hear yours. Then I'll go listen to the first 5 albums. :)
Good on you for giving some love to the LaTorre era stuff. His presence has really revitalized the band, plus he's a super nice and humble guy. Got to meet him briefly after a show.

@@briantoal8872 Thanks man. Truth is, my introduction to the band was that debut EP and those 4 songs made such an impact on me, I played them to death and they became burned into my brain. My bands always played at least one song from the EP, at my insistence, though they preferred the later Queensryche stuff. But anyway, that heavy "Classic" metal sound they had on the EP (not unlike a mix of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden) was a one-off as their sound became totally different afterwards. By the time Operation Mindcrime came around, it was like they were another band entirely (yet exactly the same members). I do like Mindcrime (who doesn't?) but yes, I remain loyal to that early sound and a lot of the other pre-Mindcrime stuff. Only one song from Empire because my wife loves that one, lol :D
My good buddy who was (RIP Dennis) a huge Priest / Fight- Halford fan told me there is a singer nearly as good as Halford in Queensryche. After borrowing some cds I concurred and we went to Queensryche & Kiss in 1990, excellent show.
Good to see Todd get some love. For me, all top ten lists can change from week to week. Off the top of my head... 1..Roads to Madness 2. NM156 3. Condition Human 4. Eyes of a Stranger 5. Surgical Strike 6. The Needle Lies 7. Queen of the Ryche 8. Warning 9. Della Brown 10. Portrait HM: Jet City Woman Take Hold of the Flame The Killing Words Blood of the Levant Among MANY others...
Great list and glad some of their latest made the list. Last three albums are truly solid. I know Sweet Oblivion is not Queensryche but I'm curious as to what you thought of that project. I personally thought it was a great fit for Tate and fans who miss him doing the earlier phase Queensryche style. Hope he does more releases with those 3 guys.
Great top 10 and most of mine are the same. The Verdict, for my money, is easily their best album since PL, if not Empire or OM. NM156, if you didn't know, was originally supposed to be the 1st track on The Warning. The record label changed the sequencing without the bands knowledge, as well as remixing it to lower the guitar volume and added reverb. I thought when it came out that the guitar sound on it wasn't heavy enough, so there you go. Rage For Order is my favorite Queensryche album, and if you haven't heard the 3 songs that didn't make the album, check out the title track, The Dream, and From The Darkside, here on UA-cam. FTD is epic and amazing and definitely should have been on the album. Why those 3 songs have never been officially released as B sides or bonus tracks on remastered CD versions is a mystery.
I appreciate you're attempt to sing Geoff... as a frontman of the long defunct tribute band "Nikki", I know how hard it was to sing in the style of Geoff. It was a great attempt and I comm3end you for having the intestinal fortitude to have a go at it for the world dto see. My Top 10 songs are as follows: 10. Prophacy 9. Bridge 8. Silent Lucidity (won many of a Karaoke contest with this one 7. Someone Else 6. Neue Regel (our band's opener most of the time) 5. The Killing Words 4. Screaming in Digital 3. The Lady Wore Black (my eye opening moment to the band as a part of a compilation cassette) 2. Take Hold of the Flame - the most challenging song I had to learn but the most satisfying 1. (I agree) Eyes of a Stranger, as a practicing druid witch, I use the chorus of this song to explain the beauty of knowing oneself from within. HONORABLE MENTIONS: Spreading the Disease I am I Road to Madness NM 156 Hand on Heart sp00L Right side of my mind - Although not their song, Synchronicity II from their covers album was very well done
You are so right about the last three albums - they are incredible. Tough for me to pick and it would change daily. I am sure I am missing some but off the top of my head: 10. Where Dreams Go to Die 9. Bent 8. Eye9 7. Light-years 6. Empire 5. The Mission 4. Take Hold of the Flame 3. Neue Regel 2. Eyes of a Stranger 1. The Whisper HM: Spore, Condition Human, Dark Reverie, No Sanctuary, Blood of the Levant, everything else on Mindcrime.
Thank you for having The Killing Words on your top ten list!! It has always been my favorite song from the Rage For Order album. I agree with you that every album all the way up to Promise Land are PHENOMENAL albums. Everything that came out after did nothing for me from the rest of the Tate era. I still have not given the Todd era a chance but I will be soon because I will be seeing Queensryche for the first time with Todd as their singer this coming February. Operation Mindcrime is one of the greatest albums ever . Operation Mindcrime 2 had no chance to even coming close to the original. The only songs I liked are I'm American and The Chase. Having Ronnie James Dio as Dr. X on The Chase was the highlight of Operation Mindcrime 2 for me.
Thanks again Pete! Queensrÿche Top 10 Songs 1. Queen of the Reich 2. I Don’t Believe in Love 3. The Lady Wore Black 4. Spreading the Disease 5. Silent Lucidity 6. Revolution Calling 7. Jet City Woman 8. Eyes of a Stranger 9. Another Rainy Night 10. Empire
1.Hand on heart 2.Suite sister mary 4.Screaming in digital 5.surgical strike 6.I will remember 7.Roads to madness 8.Neue regel 9.The mission 10.Resistance
1. Suite Sister Mary - this takes it for sheer scale, scope, arrangement and orchestration. 2. Take Hold of the Flame 3. Jet City Woman 4. Surgical Strike 5. Nm156 6. Silent Lucidity 7. The Mission 8. Queen of the Reich 9. Promised Land 10. Is there anybody listening?
Some People Fly written by Chris DeGarmo, Walk In The Shadows, Jet City Woman, The Thin Line, Eyes Of A Stranger, Killing Me With Words, See In Infra-Red, Della Brown, One And Only, Another Rainy Night
One of the best Progressive/Metal bands ever!!! Only saw them live once....The Empire tour, but I have seen Geoff as a solo artist;twice - still awesome. Some of my favorite tracks: I Don't Believe In Love/Walk In The Shadows/I Dream In Infrared/Light Years/Take Hold The Flame/Thin Line/Eyes Of A Stranger/Suite Sister Mary/Queen Of The Reich. This band has many classics off their first 4 albums that are a delight to listen to as a fan & rewarding to play as a musician. Musically relative ETERNALLY🔥.
So here's a little story: My uncle was and is a big Queensrÿche fan. He started listening to them at a young age, as the operation:livecrime cassette box set and would watch it for hours on the TV. He had the vinyls and all the CDs later on. He went to a Metallica concert in Montreal just to see Queensrÿche (his later wife was at the same concert but she went there for Metallica, but she loved Queensrÿche also). He was in love with the band! Years later, his niece (me) was also a metalhead and wanted to discover new bands. So in 2017-2018, he shown and passed on his love for this band to the next generation! x) I cannot count how many times I listened to Operation : Mindcrime! I mostly listen to their music before Promised Land, but my god I never get tired of the first 5 albums. To know that live performances like the one in Tokyo in 1984 took place 19 years before I was born upsets me so much! x) I truly wish I could turn back time... I know all their songs (from the 5 first albums) by heart and I'm so happy when I wear my Rÿche t shirt x) Your selection was great also, but some tunes are missing imo even in your honorable mentions, maybe because I love them all ^^'
12. I Will Remember (Live) 11. The Lady Wore Black (Live) 10. The Killing Words (Live) 9. Damaged (Studio) 8. My Global Mind (Studio) 7. Anybody Listening (Studio) 6. Operation Mindcrime (Livecrime) 5. I Don't Believe in Love (Livecrime) 4. Breaking The Silence (Livecrime) 3. Suite Sister Mary (Livecrime) 2. Eyes of a Stranger into Anarchy-X (Livecrime) 1. The Mission (Livecrime)
One of my very favorite bands. Just scrambled and put together this top 10, which wasn't easy and probably could shift if I had more time: 10 - Damaged 9 - Killing Words 8 - Anybody Listening? 7 - Breaking the Silence 6 - I Don't Believe in Love 5 - Queen of the Reich 4 - I Dream in Infra Red 3 - Speak 2 - Screaming in Digital 1 - The Mission Honorable mentions: Real World, Someone Else?, Lady Wore Black, Empire, Neue Regel
my top 10 is 10. Empire 9. I Don't Believe In Love 8. I dream of Infered 7. I'm American 6. Speak 5. Take Hold Of The Flames 4. Walk in the shadows 3. Jet City Woman 2. Revolution Calling 1. Eyes of The Stranger Honorable mentions are Silent Lucidity, Anybody listening, Last Time In Paris, Gonna Get Close To You, Queen Of The Ryche, Bridge, Spread The Disease, The Chase, and Breaking The Silence
Yeah man for myself I'd argue maybe my favorite song of all time, it being your number 8 is Anybody Listening. Amazingly underrated tune. Also Queensryche - Empire also one of my favorite albums of all time. My favorite songs are not the hits, but the underrated songs like Hand on Heart, The Thin Line, Della Brown, and of course Empire. 🤘
Sounds like our tastes are pretty similar. I need to delve more into LaTorre stuff. I've listened to those albums a bit but I so fondly remember the albums from the EP to Promised Land. "Someone Else?" from PL has a special place in my heart. "Walk in the Shadows" is my favorite from Rage but that album is SO good. Plus it seems like every song is either cyberpunk and about vampires. Pretty much everything from Mindcrime is great. The Mission, The Needle Lies, Eyes of a Stranger, Spreading the Disease, I Don't Believe in Love, Breaking the Silence...all so good. The EP...The Lady Wore Black is my favorite, but there's Nightrider and Queen of the Ryche too. From The Warning...En Force, Roads to Madness, NM 156, Before the Storm, Take Hold of the Flame. Empire...Hand of Heart is my favorite but you have Silent Lucidity, Jet City Woman, The Thin Line, Another Rainy Night, Anybody Listening, Best I Can...from PL, I Am I, Damaged, One More Time, etc. The later albums (Hear to American Soldier) were definitely a letdown overall but there are some songs I like. Tribe is my favorite album from that era but OMC II is a close second. I'm glad they revisited some of the musical themes from the original OMC. The Hands, Rearrange, and The Chase are particularly good (with that Dio duet). American Soldier is my least favorite as I can't even remember a single song from it. Hear and Q2K are super hit and miss but I like SPool, The Right Side of My Mind, Saved, Liquid Sky. On Tribe, I like Open, Desert Dance, The Great Divide, Rhythm of Hope, and Blood.
Influenced by your rankings I tried to make mine but I gave up, 'cos I'm amazed anew at how incredibly good their songs are especially in their first three albums including the EP. So instead I made top-three rankings EXCLUDING those spectacular three albums. :) 1. I Don't Believe in Love 2. Eyes of a Stranger 3. Launder the Conscience (especially, base guitar in the last part)
Who the heck did I see Queensryche with when they first came out ? Dio ? Scorpions ? Anyway They Rocked the house ! I do remember that much . Great concert !
The Warning one of the best albums ever, still listen to it all the time. That's the top 10. I agree with the newer albums, Todd is amazing and the songs are great!
Great List Pete... The Queensryche EP, The Warning & Rage for Order .....is Why I luv Queensryche....Anybody Listening is a later Gem.....I like Y2Q Also....Rage for Order too me is their Peak....One thing about Queensryche though ..WHATS THE DEAL ...did someone shit in someones cereal....Dont they Forgive , whatever the issue is...like why hold on too bitterness, unless somebody really did wrong and wont make it right...SHAMEFUL...the first Queensryche Records are Fantastic
1.Anybody Listening 2.Silent Lucidity 3.Damaged. 4.Take Hold of the Flame. 5.Lady Wore Black. 6.I don't believe in love. 7. Another Rainy Night. 8.Eyes of the stranger. 9.Thin línea. 10.Dark Reverie!! I love Queensryche 💕🎸 Chris DeGarmo 💋 Michael Wilton ♥️
Funny that you saw this almost exactly how I did! I actually went ahead and put Mindcrime the whole album as my #1 song. It was the only way for me to satisfactorily finish my list. I struggled with it even after I made that move. I love nearly ALL of the first two studio albums and the debut EP so, this should realistically have been a top 25 with the only albums getting a toe in the pool after Promised Land being the Todd La Torre albums which are brilliant and were cut from some NOS Ryche genes!
Operation is an absolute unmatched masterpiece. But the album that will always be my nr1 is the warning. Just fantastic, road to madness gets deep into my soul!
I have a cassette in my car that has Rage for Order on one side and Leftoverture on the other that is always in my regular rotation and never gets old. Operation Mindcrime is right below Rage and excellent. I need to check out the new stuff, I kind of lost interest after Empire although I have a few more from their later works. Man they were great while it lasted. Peace
man, this is hard...... everything from first EP to "Promised Land" is pure kick-ass...... I can't even pick my fav album from that classic era, let alone a fav track :D
@@itkojecockot I am commented on the album Promised Land. I know Rage For Order is a progressive metal. It's an ingenious artistic and philosophical album and it's my favorite.
Very difficult to narrow down ten because I think their streak between 1983 and 1994 is the best streak of any band in the metal genre. Those albums are all perfect to me, from the EP through "Promised Land" are classic. Here is my attempt at a top ten: Speak Roads to Madness Revolution Calling Chemical Youth I Don't Believe In Love Dis Con Nec Ted Warning The Whisper Spreading the Disease Della Brown or maybe Resistance or Promised Land or Anybody Listening? Glad you mentioned "Light Years" on the current album because that is the best song on the current album "The Verdict"
Mine: 10. The Whisper 9. Child of Fire 8. Warning 7. The Needle Lies 6. Deliverance 5. Nightrider 4. Prophecy 3. En Force 2. Suite Sister Mary 1. Queen of the Reich
My top 10 in no particular order Silent lucidity Walk in the shadows Take hold of the flame Eyes of a stranger Roads to madness London Jet city woman Empire I will remember I dream in infrared
My personal Top-10 01. Eyes Of A Stranger (Operation Mindcrime) 02. Take Hold Of The Flame (The Warning) 03. I Dream In Infrared (Rage For Order) 04. I Don't Believe In Love (Operation Mindcrime) 05. Breaking The Silence (Operation Mindcrime) 06. Walk In The Shadows (Rage For Order) 07. Queen Of The Reich (EP) 08. Jet City Woman (Empire) 09. The Killing Words (Rage For Order) 10. Scarborough Fair (Empire)
My top 10 is a little different, but I also think that the first five records (excluding the great EP) are absolutely killer. 10. Walk In The Shadows 9. Someone Else? 8. Anybody Listening? 7. Eyes Of A Stranger 6. I Don't Believe In Love 5. Empire 4. Silent Lucidity 3. Jet City Woman 2. Real World 1. Best I Can Honorable mentions: Queen Of The Reich, En Force, Take Hold Of The Flame, Neue Regel, The Killing Words, Breaking The Silence, The Mission, Anarchy X/Revolution Calling, Another Rainy Night, The Thin Line, Bridge, Lady Jane, One More Time
I recall the liner notes in the empire album that were acknowledgments made to sci fiction writer joe haldeman so probaly he was an influence on Geoff tate and degarmo
It would be so hard for me to pick just 10 Queensryche songs. Although I love all the songs on your list, the only one that would go on mine would be Eyes of a Stranger.
After Iron Maiden, the best band I ever heard and see ! "Is there anybody listening", so cool, you're right ! Queensrÿche are the Pink Floyd of heavy metal, and not only because of "Operation Mindcrime". I love this band. And I remember now (!) the interview I had with Chris DeGarmo in 1994, . So great remembrances ! And I agree with you... Condition Hüman and The Verdict are great albums too, in fact !!!
For me, nothing beats the live version of Take Hold of the Flame in Japan (ca. 1984).

So happy you included "Killing Words", "Before the Storm, and "NM 156". Love those songs!
the Killing Words bridge is amazing.
So happy you picked Eyes Of A Stranger as no 1. Was my pick too. Love the channel man. Keep up the good work.
Dream In Infrared!!!

Top tune: Road To Madness
Agreed!

That's my #1 song as well! Good to see someone else digs it.
Neue Regel probably cracks my top 5.
Neue Regel: masterpiece. And Out of Mind... probably my favourite tune out of Promised Land, that solo... it pierces your heart and mind.

Top 10? But there's 15 on Mindcime?
Something's wrong
TBH, everything after just doesn't come close. DeGarmo was a great songwriter
Good selection, Queensryche are such a great band i like you think the new stuff is very good as well
The older I get, the more I love Queensryche.
I agree 🤘
Have not bought them for 2 decades. But man, the EP, rage for order, and warning were awesome
The outro of Eyes of a Stranger is phucking phenomenal!! Gives me chills every time. I don't know if I could do a top ten, but I agree on the #1.
Love that shirt

Total agree with your number one. Nowadays the set closing song. Next month they play here. Last In Line supporting them!

1..Roads to Madness
2. NM156
3. Condition Human
4. Eyes of a Stranger
5. Surgical Strike
6. The Needle Lies
7. Queen of the Ryche
8. Warning
9. Della Brown
10. Portrait
HM:
Jet City Woman
Take Hold of the Flame
The Killing Words
Blood of the Levant
Among MANY others...
Cringe shut up
Great list and glad some of their latest made the list.
My Top 10 songs are as follows:
10. Prophacy
9. Bridge
8. Silent Lucidity (won many of a Karaoke contest with this one
7. Someone Else
6. Neue Regel (our band's opener most of the time)
5. The Killing Words
4. Screaming in Digital
3. The Lady Wore Black (my eye opening moment to the band as a part of a compilation cassette)
2. Take Hold of the Flame - the most challenging song I had to learn but the most satisfying
1. (I agree) Eyes of a Stranger, as a practicing druid witch, I use the chorus of this song to explain the beauty of knowing oneself from within.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Spreading the Disease
I am I
Road to Madness
NM 156
Hand on Heart
sp00L
Right side of my mind
- Although not their song, Synchronicity II from their covers album was very well done
Talking Queensryche while wearing a Rush shirt. I'm in heaven.
Lisa Rush My two favorite bands.
You are so right about the last three albums - they are incredible. Tough for me to pick and it would change daily. I am sure I am missing some but off the top of my head:
10. Where Dreams Go to Die
9. Bent
8. Eye9
7. Light-years
6. Empire
5. The Mission
4. Take Hold of the Flame
3. Neue Regel
2. Eyes of a Stranger
1. The Whisper
HM: Spore, Condition Human, Dark Reverie, No Sanctuary, Blood of the Levant, everything else on Mindcrime.
Every song on the EP and first 4 albums! That's how great they were!
Thanks again Pete!

Good choices. . My favorite QR song is actually "Hand On Heart"
Great band and I agree with #1.
"The Warning" is their best album in my opinion.
So here's a little story:
My uncle was and is a big Queensrÿche fan.
So in 2017-2018, he shown and passed on his love for this band to the next generation! x)
I cannot count how many times I listened to Operation : Mindcrime! I mostly listen to their music before Promised Land, but my god I never get tired of the first 5 albums. To know that live performances like the one in Tokyo in 1984 took place 19 years before I was born upsets me so much! x) I truly wish I could turn back time... I know all their songs (from the 5 first albums) by heart and I'm so happy when I wear my Rÿche t shirt x)
Your selection was great also, but some tunes are missing imo even in your honorable mentions, maybe because I love them all ^^'
12. I Will Remember (Live)
11. The Lady Wore Black (Live)
10. The Killing Words (Live)

The Lady Wore Black is my number one by a country mile

10 - Damaged
9 - Killing Words
8 - Anybody Listening?

Yes! NM156 easily in my top 3 so glad it made #4 for you
Yeah man for myself I'd argue maybe my favorite song of all time, it being your number 8 is Anybody Listening.
"Spreading the disease " is my favorite .
Influenced by your rankings I tried to make mine but I gave up, 'cos I'm amazed anew at how incredibly good their songs are especially in their first three albums including the EP. So instead I made top-three rankings EXCLUDING those spectacular three albums. :)
1. I Don't Believe in Love
2. Eyes of a Stranger
3. Launder the Conscience (especially, base guitar in the last part)
Who the heck did I see Queensryche with when they first came out ? Dio ? Scorpions ? Anyway They Rocked the house ! I do remember that much . Great concert !
I actually have a recording of The Bridge done by Geoff and Chris alone on a radio show. Can't find it anywhere on UA-cam.
1.Anybody Listening
2.Silent Lucidity
3.Damaged.
4.Take Hold of the Flame.
5.Lady Wore Black.

8.Eyes of the stranger.
9.Thin línea.
10.Dark Reverie!!
I love Queensryche 💕🎸 Chris DeGarmo 💋 Michael Wilton ♥️
Jet City Woman and Spreading The Disease are my favourite tracks.
Have you done a top ten albums for Queensryche?
Promised Land is a different album than the ones before it but its till genial album.
@@robertkrajci1847 it is metal album...... "Rage For Order" is also not very heavy and it is still metal (Progressive Metal)
@@itkojecockot I am commented on the album Promised Land. I know Rage For Order is a progressive metal. It's an ingenious artistic and philosophical album and it's my favorite.
@@robertkrajci1847 what makes you think "Promised Land" is not Prog Metal ?
Very difficult to narrow down ten because I think their streak between 1983 and 1994 is the best streak of any band in the metal genre. Those albums are all perfect to me, from the EP through "Promised Land" are classic. Here is my attempt at a top ten:
Speak
Roads to Madness
Revolution Calling
Chemical Youth
I Don't Believe In Love
Dis Con Nec Ted
Warning
The Whisper
Spreading the Disease
Della Brown or maybe Resistance or Promised Land or Anybody Listening?
Glad you mentioned "Light Years" on the current album because that is the best song on the current album "The Verdict"
Mine:
10. The Whisper
9. Child of Fire
8. Warning
7. The Needle Lies
6. Deliverance
5. Nightrider
4. Prophecy

old man, you have Hemispheres t-shirt and talking about Queensryche, not bad at all..!! My top10 is only from OM. Cheers
Take Hold of the Flame and Queen of the Reich always my faves.
