Nice, since you've tested and can't shoot both i will take one off your hands. I will finally retire form the Army at 29 years and can go hunting now with no time line. I enjoy a true picture comparison and OD green is amazing.
I'm starting to wonder whether there's any real point to longer bows.... I have 2 compounds, one is 40" ATA with a 7" brace height and the other is 30" and 6.5" respectively - and I find my accuracy better when using the shorter bow. I wonder whether the difference only matters to near-Olympic level archers (as do so many things in the archery world)!? Edit: one has a shoot-thru prong rest and the other a drop-away, and both bows have 70-75% let-off.
Is there much of a difference in the way the VXR’s shoot vs the Vertix? I know the riser has changed some, but other than that they seem to be the same bows.
The feel is very similar. I did a Vertix vs. VXR 31.5 video a little while ago you can check out. String angle is the big difference with the new bows. It's an improvement.
U prefer the 28 but question is how tall are you and do you have long arms ? I am 6-2 and have long arms but I also like the 28, but not sure if it’s the one I should get . Thanks
Thanks for the great review. I had a heck of a time deciding between the the VXR31.5, VXR28 and then Traverse. I flipped a coin. Got a 31.5. I'm getting great groups from 20/90 yards. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the mentioned bows. 👍 Keep up the great videos.
I'm about your size and I quite like both of these bows. Surprisingly, I prefer the 28 out of this pair. However, the 28 maxes out at 30 inches of DL (realistically, it will be 30.5, as Mathews bows usually run a half-inch long). If you need to get to 31", go with the VXR 31.5
I’m 17 and have a 29 inch draw, I shot the 31.5 and the 28 today and I liked the 28 a little better. I’m worried though that my draw length will get longer and I will have trouble later down the road, I’m planning ok having this bow for a while. Have you seen draw lengths lengthening after 17? Is it smarter to go with the 31.5 oppose to the 28 or does it matter. I like the compactness of the 28.
Is the 31.5 more forgiving than the 28? I'm not very experienced so I'm thinking I could shoot more accurate with the 31.5. I shoot with 27.5 inch draw and I would not be hunting from tree stands or blinds.
I've been out of archery for almost 10 years now. I'm looking to get the 31 for a few months now just about saving the money for this. Thanks for the review! What do you do with all of your bows after using/ reviewing them?

" I have a soft spot in my heart for the 28 after taking the deer" ...I imagine the ole deer does too :)
Really helpful insights, thanks for putting this together.
Love yr videos I wish you did group shooting with all yr bows and share the results of what you group with best
Couldn’t agree more with your assessment. I’m a 27.5 (or a Mathews 27 lol) in draw, so my anchor was fine. I picked the 28 for the feel.
Both are excellent bows, but the 28 felt right to me. Though I still think I prefer the Vertix overall.
I had the Triax "28 but now I have the VXR in 31.5 and liked it more. It shoots for me better and smoother.
Great review!!! much appreciated!!!
Thank you.
Congrats on the public land dear. That is awesome. Hoping to get mine this year with the 28 as well
Thanks great review!

If you have to ask, it literally won’t matter for you.
I had to solve the problem of which one is best by buying both of them. 28 for hunting, 31 for 3d.
Well that's one way to do it.
U prefer the 28 but question is how tall are you and do you have long arms ? I am 6-2 and have long arms but I also like the 28, but not sure if it’s the one I should get . Thanks
@Rusty Shackleford I did finally. I bought the 28 .

Honestly, nobody is making bad bows anymore. Lots of great choices.
I'm new to all this. Im 6'2 and I think I have a draw length of about 31. Could either work for me?

I didn’t pick up a bow until I was older, so I’ve not had to worry about DL changes. The VXR maxes out at 30”, so that is a possible concern for sure.

In theory, the 31.5 should be a bit more stable/forgiving. But the difference is small. Though for a newer shooter I’d probably recommend the 31.5.
this bow is great but i hate the single mods, i changed for a pse

Eric Fergison The majority go back to the manufacturers.
I just got the 31.5 but now I need to choose a sight. Do you have a video on the best hunting sights?
I do not. My personal favorite is the Black Gold Pro. But there are some affordable options I like as well
ho g g
Which would you recommend for someone with a 27.5 draw length?
Troy Haugh Both would work just fine, but the 28 is my recommendation
When are you going to finish the review on the Reckoning 38?
I need a place to shoot the reviews/shootout videos. I’m hoping my club opens soon.
what sight do you have on the 28?
Black Gold Ascent Whitetail
Do you like them better than the Traverse?
Rick Haddix I’ve not shot the Traverse.
Don’t you think that’s a lot of nose pressure?
Do u believe this is still a good bow
Both of these are excellent hunting bows.
