  • Hi, I'm submitting my app to the Meta Hackathon 2024 and the submission requires a roughly 3 minute video so here it is showing aspects of my app. I won't win but possibly getting feedback and a little exposure would be cool.
Edit April 23rd 2024 - just learnt a hackathon submission requires that the app be created and finished between specific dates in April and May - I started my app before this, so can't enter it : (

The spatial awareness she has is stellar. You've done things I have never seen elsewhere. Go for it! ❤

That's pretty damn good. The spatial awareness is amazing and then she started walking outdoors with you! Holy hell. You definitely have a shot. Good luck!

For the outdoor walking, I did do a brief controller input to move her when we first began the walk (I moved her slightly ahead and to the right), but apart from that 1 brief moment she was positioning herself throughout. The indoor walking has zero input from me. It took a lot of work to get it to this stage and there are still improvements to be made. Thanks for your kind words about having a shot, you never know although I doubt I'll come anywhere, there will be far more talented devs than me who'll be entering the hackathon. In my favour I think 1 of the judging criteria is is the app offering something new/different and I believe this is.

Hi, learn Unity basics, then learn VR Unity basics, then move on to more complex stuff from there. Watch UA-cam vids, ask questions on forums and discord etc, work hard and don't give up.

I got to admit I don't hate the British accent. Wouldn't mind if she had a New Zealand accent option like cancer Troy from Star Trek. Or Scottish if you're familiar with that Rowena accent LOL. Myra McTaggart Voice. One thing that keeps me from playing with this app is as I understand it it's pretty heavily nerfed and regards to you being morally safe or whatever term people want to use for it. I like being able to swear or use adult topics without being that Nanny by an AI. I'm not going to lie to me out all you want for complaining about it being PG13 but I'm God damn impressed that it can recognise objects and walk around them not to mention her a little bits of sassy sarcasm and she can even sit in a chair across from you. I can't imagine using my quest outside not just because how goofy I'd look but more so they tell you don't use it in outdoor lighting or in sunlight because it can damage your eyes and damage sensors on the quest there is a big to do about don't use it in sunlight and all that stuff same thing with the version 2 they tell you don't use it Outdoors. I'm honestly hoping we'll eventually get a headset that we can use Outdoors without the risk of damaging the device or our eyes.I'm really impressed by what you're doing. I don't understand why somebody like replicas not doing this and yet a Enthusiast like yourself is

Tbh I preferred the American accent of the previous voice, I really like that accent. But I ran a poll on my Patreon to pick a new voice and this British voice won.
I get what you mean about the filters etc, I mean there's nothing stopping you using bad language etc, but the AI won't respond too well to it and it won't talk about certain subjects. If you're very careful I think there's little risk to using your Quest outside. When I'm out with it I keep mine in a bag unless it is on my head, so at no point do I give the sunlight chance to get to the lenses inside. It won't harm the external sensors/cameras outside. Tbh if it's really sunny I don't bother as I can't see much anyway inside the Quest. Main thing that stops me using it outside is as you say you look goofy lol! I have passed people when I've been using it and no-one has said anything but they are probably wondering what it is etc and what I'm doing.

@@Tyke18 There was a TV show called sliders that a few screen captures from one episode would make some decent jokes. Memes I think they call them nowadays and that episode of Sliders they went to a world where everyone wears a VR helmet all the time. Each individual person was in their own artificial reality outside of what was going on around them and the VR system that ran the planet altered each person's experience accordingly as an example there was a guy painting a great big brick wall on a building in VR he was painting beautiful paintings similar to the Mona Lisa. Guy with a broom sweeping the streets was I think Kung Fu Fighting or something like that in VR I forget maybe he was playing baseball. This was back when I was a teenager. Basically anything mundane that people didn't want to deal with in their day to day life they wore VR helmets and the VR helmet transformed whatever they were doing into something they wanted to do so while their body was doing one thing in their mind they were doing something else this was years before the Matrix almost 10 years. A lot of people like to play hyper violent games in that episode. Most video games involved people shooting at each other in VR or more adult activities if you catch my drift. One of the people that had never been in the VR world before was trying to explain to one of the developers that if somebody's only had McDonald's food and they've never had anything else all they'll eat is McDonald's food and won't know the difference. He was trying to explain that the only reason people liked violent VR content and adult content was they've never been given a choice to do anything else in games. One of them joined what was supposed to be a murder mystery game and the guys that were playing cops that were humans we're going around shooting MPCs willy-nilly and weren't anyways interested in solving the mystery LOL another little Chestnut from the 90s was a cartoon called spicy City on HBO episode 1 or episode 2 was about a world in VR and what things were like outside of VR. I never thought we'd get to a point where VR would be more than a few geometric shapes with Graphics similar to Nintendo 64.
