- In this video I will show you how to apply your weed and feed to lawn that is totally infested with weeds. now this weed and feed alone may not solve all your problems but it is a easy way to kill weeds over an extended time period in your Bermuda lawn or any lawn. I appreciate your video about this topic sir, I have a yard that I recently put down some fertilizer but not weed and feed and now I have an entire Bermuda lawn full of weeds. I just had the lawn cut today so I’ll water the grass in on my auto sprinkler which starts at around 4am and put down the Scott’s weed and feed in the morning. Thanks for the tips again sir!

I had one of those know-it-all neighbors who argued up and down with me over putting Weed & Feed on grass that I purposely sprayed with the hose to moisten prior to application, and a light watering after 3 days later, then a good soaking rain for an hour the following day...
She's an Old School "Expert" (about EVERYTHING, I might add) with a lawn that's ONLY green because it's nothing BUT weeds... LOL... She had it drilled into her head, so she told me, "You don't put down fertilizer until after there's no chance of rain for at least 48 hours, so you don't water it either." I said, "It's 'Weed & Feed', and I'm following the directions on the package."
I get the same thing, then I see I’m following the directions, lol 😆

I love the Sunny land 20-0-6. It almost totally fixed my back yard in the year since we have bought our house. The weed and feed also helped the front lawn too. 26000 sq ft total. Yes, I have bagged all:) Please show us a before and after video.

BYD, 1st love your informative videos... good stuff, so I'm building a backyard putting green, (Bermuda), first week of growth it was looking just great, then after that, the crabgrass began to take over, question 1, once I apply crabgrass killer, will the Bermuda grow back or should I start from scratch.... question 2, next season I plan to get started in the middle of February. Is this a good time to prepare the green with weed and feed before planting Bermuda seeds? What do you suggest? I'm in Ga.

Love your videos and advice. Thank you. The timing of this video was perfect. I live in NC. I put the Sunniland weed and feed Sunday morning after Saturdays rain. I watered the lawn in. There are still pellets showing. The question is will the get sucked up when I mow and bag? Thanks.
Not likely I f you watered it in good. A few May but not enough to make a difference. If you are mulching then it doesn’t matter.
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral Thanks. I need to bag. The Sunniland pre emergent did not do as well as I would have liked. Think it was too much rain and diluted it or washed it away.
March 18th, I applied Lesco pre emergent 19 0 7 . The bag was ripped so I got it 50 percent off in the store and didn't have to pay 54 bucks. Although the outside temperature was 60 degrees i didn't check the soil temperature. That night it dropped to 40 degrees and I suspect that is why I have a green lawn but weeds.

3-4 days but check your product label because they all have different times.
In this video I called the hand held a Wizz but it’s the Scott’s Whirl.
I have found that when I spray the herbicides (roundup ) in my bed of pine straw it doesn’t kill my weeds. I follow the instructions. Spot treating weeds doesn’t seem to work for me. Is it something I’m doing wrong

How about the grass clippings after the first application? I realize you mentioned bagging the weeds in this video. I would just like some clarifcation...don't mulch grass clippings onto lawn after first application, right?
Love your content! How soon after applying the weed and feed should you water your yard?? I have heard 24 hours which would mean today I should start watering. However, we are getting rain supposedly tomorrow morning. Would it be wise to wait it out or should i start watering today??
Check your product label to see when they suggest or just let Mother Nature handle it for you.

I dethached my lawn on Saturday. I have some weeds . I'm gonna give the lawn a week to strengthen up then blanket spray with Tenacity. Then a week before Memorial day I'm going to give it Miracle grow lawn food to boost it with that chelated iron. YuP
If you are treating a BermudaGrass lawn then do not blanket spray the lawn with tenacity.
Where are you getting the pro sunniland bags? Can’t find any in my area so I’ve just been getting the 20lb bags. The 50s would help my back lol

Cut , wait few days then apply, needs to be on lawn 3-4 days before your water it in.
What is your opinion on drop spreaders? I can’t get a grip on the hand spreaders. Hands are weak.

I NEED SOME HELP BYD!!!!!!This is the problem that I’m having I started out killing the weeds that I had and it worked unfortunately now I have stuff in my yard that I didn’t have before I have a patch of Saint Augustine and I have spots of nut grass annual bluegrass (which I killed off b4)and wall barley all over my yard.. what can I used to get rid of thus stuff? I been hand pulling the annual bluegrass but they keep popping up and also did a pre emergent

BYD, thanks! This video is timely... I have nice thatch from the lawn guy's broken mower the last time AND weeds from not enough preemergent last year. You say to mow then apply the weed and feed but I am leary about mowing the weeds and spreading them even more. I do (normally) have the clippings bagged but wonder if it would even be effective at the root due to the thatch. What exact steps should I take? Please advise 🤔😔

Apply 3 days before mow or 3 days after Mow. Would not apply if it could drift or leach into edibles.

How often do u put weed and feed down? My yard was just like this. When I put it down I seen a fast results of the weed dying out. I planted Bermuda grass seeds, at first it was very yellow but now I stop watering it daily and it has green back up. Before my husband cut the grass this weekend I seen dandelion and those yellow flower 🌼 coming back up!!! What I need to do? Also, Can I put sunny land fertilizer down?
Weed and feed generally can be used twice a year or I’ll say recommend only twice a year.

Early Sping, maybe early summer. It’s to hot late summer and you technically should not be dealing with weeds that late in the season. In some case Fall to get a head start on next season.
One suggestion I read was do not water after application for 24 hours. Didn't say anything about watering prior and another said to water immediately after application...
All products are different in directions so follow the direction of the product you get.

Some people recommend using Preemergent every 6 weeks as well as fertilizer to stop new seeds from neighbors and storms that get in your yard. How do you feel about that?

Spectracide stopped make weed and feed but you’ll need to read the label of the product you’re using, not all products have the same application instructions.

No, but if you trying to get the fert to the grass then a couple of times the first week.but it needs to sit on lawn a couples of days before you water 💦 it in. 👍🏾

Do you have a alternate weed and feed that you trust if you can’t find Sunniland?
I can’t find any within 150 miles of where I’m located. I called Sunniland and they told me that GA Lowe’s put all there stuff on clearance like they will no longer stock their products. I was going to use your year plan Sunniland fertilizer system which was majority Sunniland but I’m afraid it will be hard to locate that specific product.

Maybe a liquid hose end sprayer over entire lawn or just spot spray some weeds but know your lawn will take a beating if you do that.

I’d focus on getting rid of the weeds before adding more fertilizer but generally 15-30 days after.

I always tell my folks to use both a weed & feed (primarily as a pre-emergent) and at the same time, apply Ortho Weed B Gone (as a post emergent). This is easy to get at most home centers and any market with a garden department and works great for the beginner.
After they get the hang of that, they can start applying more advanced ferts, like iron and the more advanced herbicides like prodiamine, Tzone, tenacity and sedgehammer.

If those fertilizers say they are formulated for lawns then yes but I f you read them and they only talk about trees and shrubs then no.

Treating weeds is base on temps. As long it’s under 85 you can still treat.

Instead of doing weed and feed. Can i mow at the lowest setting like 1” or less, dethatch, apply 50% compost 50% topsoil, level out lawn, then lastly put down new seed?
In any lawn you need you get rid of the weeds before starting new lawn projects. Plus I don’t recommend over seeding a hybrid BermudaGrass lawn.
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral I have a mix of fescue and dandelions, mainly weeds. The topsoil wouldn’t smother the weeds you don’t think?
It will help the weeds grow. I’d try to rid the lawn of weeds first.
Dont do the compost....I brought in every weed on the planet by putting down compost everywhere! I wish I never did and just spent the money on fertilizer and weed and feeds
@@lmarierussell What about putting down proscape preemergent? That’s what professional landscapers use. I mean it is too late because dandelions have germinated. Unless I dig out every single dandelion. I think weed and feed is the best for now
