    *My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

      I'm a little bit late, I hope you went to the doctor and not waited for this commentary. But for any future reader: yes, the Type 1 diabete is also known as the "young diabete" because centuries ago, only kids got it (and died from it). Since the insulin therapy was invented (1920), kids don't die anymore, and more and more grown-up adults become T1D at 20yo, 30yo or later. But anyway, it stays a disease starting way more during the tender age (

      Good morning. My daughter is 12 and she was diagnosed at 2 years old, my son is 15 and was diagnosed at 10 years old. It has been a long road but we remain optimistic. I pray for everyone that is dealing with children that have this.

    In my experience as a type 1 diabetic I have found that the low carbohydrate diet has worked the best for me. In the last 5 years I've gone from having an A1C level of 13 down to 7.2 to 7.5 consistently. I do my best to stay on keto, the only problem I have is I always resort back to eating junk food because I love it so much I'll go for a week or two on keto I'll start to lose weight and then I have those cravings, it really sucks because I guess I'm a foodie? But isn't everyone? I really don't like health food that much so even on keto I don't always eat that healthy. I just love the way food tastes, I know that it takes a lot of discipline to really stick with it and that's my problem...plus I absolutely hate exercise. I weigh too much and I know it, I'm way overweight now and I'm 47 so I know I got to start doing better. Honestly it looked like this video was more about doing the study than anything but I got a little bit of information that helped me out to understand the insulin resistance a little bit better.

      You can get it much lower on a whole food plant based diet. Mine is 4.6%, 500g of carbs a day.
      Edit: Most "foodies" don't eat junk food. Clearly, a low carb diet hasn't worked for you either if your levels are still at 7.2% and you keep falling off the wagon due to carb cravings.

    More protein, less simple carbs w/ nonstarchy veg = less need for unpredictable rapid insulin; less guessing, less highs and less lows; more time in range and less worry.
    Lower carb diet 100% proven to help many people to control blood glucose and less weight gain from artificial insulin injections. More people are eating a lower carb diet with higher protein than can stick to a vegan, low-fat diet. B12 is needed because vegan diet is missing out on B-12 vitamins that people have evolved to get from animal protein sources. Don't know why this is asking what the "Best Diet for Type 1 Diabetes?" is because it did not answer the question -- "more studies needed" is not an answer.
    Saying eating these foods in unlimited quantities is fine does not provide any proof of good glucose control. "If your glucose is too high ... too low" then you are having trouble, and perhaps this approach is not working out too well. Lower carb may be more appropriate if you want to get off the rollercoaster.
    Good luck to us all, whatever you choose. More than one way to improve. There's not a lot of perfection going to happen for Type 1 diabetics.

      Lower carb diet 100% proven? You've got to be joking? People evolved to get B12 from animal products? Now I know you're just taking the p1ss. Get off YT, bud, go get some real world experience.

    Chuck, I’d like to see a show about diet after weight loss surgery especially gastric sleeve. My husband (he’s 61 & overweight) had one done about 5 years ago and he never took care of himself afterwards. About 3 years ago, we almost lost him when he suffered a multitude of illness such as Congested Heart failure, Stage 4 Renal failure, and high blood pressure. His Nephrologist said that those who had weight loss surgeries done were more likely to be malnourished. The only doctor he sees now is his cardiologist who never mentioned a plant based diet to him. So of course I took over as soon as he left the hospital, and as the cook of the family I’ve been cooking plant based no to low oil for us. He’s stubborn but he grudgingly does eats what I make and he’s gotten better. The only dr. he will see is his cardiologist and he just tells him to eat “everything in moderation 🙄. Anyway I’d like to know what amounts of certain foods or meals should he be having? I’m been trying to make healthy meals for him, but like I said, he’s stubborn. By the way, I’ve been almost 100% plant based for about 10 years and got rid of my pre diabetes diagnosis with Mastering Diabetes. I’m considered an anomaly in my fam because EVERYONE takes meds, but me at 60, nada. Anyway can you help this frustrated plant based woman?

    Is it possible to still enter this study? We would be unable participate in the meat diet since we have been vegan for 7 years already, however, our 11 year old was diagnosed type 1 on Saturday. I am interested in any option that can improve or heal this completely. I feel like there is a cure, we just need to find it.

    • @user-sb1oi3mn5u

      Starvation until death or death for type 1. Type 2 isn't a disease, only a symptom of being over weight, malnutrition and unhealthy lifestyle (no exercise). They are not the same at all just because the name similar has to do with the same organ. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes are as similar as comparing lung cancer and asthma, both are the lungs but nothing to do with each other.

    What is the 20-30 grams of fat? That is counting over and above all fruit beans grains and veggies? You dont count any scant fat in the grains beans veggies? Is that clear?Thank you

    • @CheamCreese
      @CheamCreese 2 роки тому

      I can't speak for Dr. Kohleova but having been using a low-fat, plant-based diet as much as possible I can say that the 20-30 grams of fat usually refers to total fat intake from all sources. For practical purposes, that means no added oils and very limited amounts of high-fat vegetables, fruits, and nuts/grains . Just to give you an idea, just a tablespoon of ground flaxseed (taken daily by many folks on a WFPB diet) provides about 3 grams of fat or 15% of a 20-gram per day target. Half of an avocado is a little over 10 grams of fat. A third cup of steel-cut oats has almost 3.5 grams of fat.

    • @dj-fe4ck
      @dj-fe4ck 2 роки тому

      @@CheamCreese Doesn't the perecntage of fat calories matter more than the number of grams themselves? As long as you eat no more than 15% fat, the number of grams don't really matter. If you only eat fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes (except for soy and peanuts) without high fat plant foods like nuts, seeds, avocados, or oils, you will automatically be between 1-15% fat.

    • @dj-fe4ck
      @dj-fe4ck 2 роки тому +1

      @Bill Ding the constructor You would have to eat 2350 calories of oatmeal to get about 40 grams of fat, but only 375 calories of peanut butter to get 40 grams of fat. The oatmeal is only 14% fat and the peanut butter is 71% fat. Wouldn't that make a difference? Maybe the absorption of the grams of fat in high carb low fat foods that are 1-15% fat are a lot lower than the grams of fat in high fat low carb foods or oils. The 40 grams of fat from oatmeal could really be more like 10 grams of fat compared to 40 grams of fat from nuts, avocados, or oils.

    • @dj-fe4ck
      @dj-fe4ck 2 роки тому +1

      @Bill Ding the constructorThe absorption must be a lot lower. I've never heard McDougall or any other low fat plant based doctor say to limit the amount of fat you eat from oats or other high carb low fat foods. Some days I eat only 5-10 grams of fat and other days I could eat up to 40-50 grams if I eat a lot of oatmeal or quinoa, but no nuts, seeds, oils, or any other overt fats and I am only 5'8" and 120 pounds eating 2000-3500 calories a day and my a1c on my last test was 4.6, so I am very insulin sensitive. Some people when they see me think I am not eating enough even though I clearly am.

    A vegan diet does not mean a low fat diet. In fact, vegans eat a good to high amount of fat from olive oil, peanut butter, avocados, tofu, etc... there is not way the fat is as low as 20-30g.

    I've been type 1 for nearly 40 years. To be honest now a days I can't see the point in a special or different diet. As long as you have the insulin near enough right then you can eat anything. Generally I do keep the carbs below what I'd want but in general everyone should have a healthy diet. I have the Libre 2 constant glucose monitor & knowing what your sugar levels at any time is whats been missing till the last few years. Some people now have the pumps linked to the Cgm so near enough an artificial pancreas. I get about 70% in target so at the moment don't really want a pump.
