Julianna Mosley really touched me with this beautiful talk. Loved the analogy of the pearl and the little piece of sand learning to coexist to create something beautiful!
The message of cultural humility is greatly needed in our society today to stop all the division and judgment of others with different backgrounds of race, culture, and politics.
This is what we urgently and desperately need in our diverse society especially in multicultural countries such as the U.S, Canada, and Europe. This message is relevant to the recent episode of murder in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Mosley, this is a powerful message. As a current BSW student, this reminds me of what is essential over all the years of scholarly text. I find what your talk delivers is something that needs to be made clear to have unity.
Thank you for viewing and your compliment. I hope that you will use your position and future career to live the example and spread the importance of unity and humility.
This is terrific. It takes a LOT of audacity to think we can summarize and "know" in any one body/mind/head the cumulative effects across 1000s of cultures, of 1000 years+ of storytelling, of cultural nuance and interactions between cultures, and how that comes down to affect & inform the various cultures of the individual in front of us and then encapsulate that into a certificate on the wall. It takes a lot less humility to say "I don't know, please tell me." Namaste.
Please note that cultural competency is about building your awareness, gaining knowledge, and developing a wealth of skills. I believe we need both cultural humility and the awareness, knowledge, and skill-building that Dr. Derald Wing Sue and others discuss in cultural competency building. They both are ongoing processes that we need in doing this work. Thank you for your discussion of cultural humility.
This was absolutely excellent! Thought provoking, heartfelt and challenging to break the norms. This video should be apart of diversity training. Dr. Mosley did an exceptional job. 👋👋
Just watched this for my pre-req courses for my MSW program starting next week, had to get on YT itself and say that this was amazing and enlightening!
Thank you , Mimi, for viewing and taking the time to leave me a nice message and compliment. I hope you found it fruitful and useful for your profession. I wish you the best in your MSW program. Take care.
Beautiful, relevant and so powerful in 2023. In 2017 Dr. Mosley mentions terrible floods due to a hurricane, horrific gun violence and polluting wildfires. When will we care equally about our Planet as we do about Humanity???🌎
I listened to this through a cultural competency and humility in behavioral training my office presented.... I loved your presentation and look forward to more talks and experiences from you Dr J. Much Love Much Light

excellently portrayed I came here to know about the cultural humility and understanding of it she made me picture the restaurant in my mind and I literally saw and felt the feeling of the situation got created there.
Thanks, Holly, for viewing and your compliment. Yes, I have some thoughts about COVID and the racial and economic disparities that have been highlighted. I can only hope the that health systems will begin the work to fix what most of us have know for years, so that this is no longer the "norm."
Dr. Mosley, I am a current Occupational Therapy student trying to create my capstone project around advocating for racial and cultural justice within my field. I would LOVE to connect with you and learn more from you if possible. I've tried searching for your LinkedIn and current place of employment but can't find you! I hope that you see this. Fingers crossed!
I loved your talk. Just one comment felt jarring: "the humanity of man." I would really like to see the term man for human beings dropped from our vocabulary.
Namaste does not mean that. It is only a common greeting basically meaning I bow to you. It has been misused in Western Cultures and is not something you say at the end of a conversation.
You know, I really like many parts of your speech but unfortunately, I am still very cautious and skeptical of your core mission since it is pretty clear to me that you are an identity Marxist and trained in the ways of DEI. DIEDEI / Thrive EM&CB
