    Nice work Steve! I'm a powerlifter from the UK and just wanted to share some deadlift tips which I've found helpful from Coach Mark Rippetoe: 1) When taking your stance, point feet slightly outwards 2) as you lift the bar, push your knees & quads out in line with your toes (not letting your knees cave in). These help you engage your lower body better when deadlifting.

  • @rodneyfulmer7690
    @rodneyfulmer7690 7 років тому

    Steve, here is a possible fix for some of your lower back pain. When deadlifting, look down when you're down and up when your up. So, when the bar is on the ground, you should be looking down. As you stand up with the bar you will be looking straight forward "at your horizon". This will keep your spine in a safe neutral position throughout the movement and will also encourage your hips to be further back when you start and finish the movement. When going back down, if your hips are able to go back slightly more, then your knees won't be forward causing you to move the bar around the knees and putting the bulk of your weight on your lower back instead of on your glutes and hams like it should be. This is very common with people who have a very strong squat, which you do. Good luck!

      Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong!!!!!
      I've spent a good few years training muay thai, however this is a combat sport, its not self defence. There is a difference between a brawl and an actual fight. If a big 220lb dude tries to beat me up on the street, then there's probably a solid chance i'll get my ass handed too me.
      Even with something more self defense orientated like Brazillian jiujitsu. Yes this is designed so that smaller people can still fend off larger opponents, but in reality brute force will usually win.
      Just because you are trained, doesn't mean crap

      Brady Patrick.....Your statement does not make sense. You make the assumption that everyone already knows who Steve is.....and that's not true. My point is he is allowed to put together any intro that suits what he is doing in his life at any given moment.......people being petty about such a small nonissue is just plain sad.

    Layne actually arching your back creates like 5 times less pressure to your vertebrae disks. The easiest way to herniate your disk is upperbody in flexed position (like start of the deadlift) with rounded back and then you lift something and accidentally rotate your back at the same time.
