I'm 3 weeks post op from an abdominal hysterecttomy and I feel great!! My hospital experience was great, my physician did an amazing job, and I've done exceptionally well with my recovery! Your story is similar to mine, in particular as it relates to your pre-op symptoms...bloating, fullness, and the belly that measured at the equivalent of 16 weeks gestation. I too had several fibroids and when I saw the pictures after surgery, I could not believe what had been growing inside my body. Our recovery experiences were also very similar...better BM's, weight loss, loss of appetite, etc. Overall, I'm thankful for the experience and looking forward to what is to come. I'm at my 3 week mark myself. I was a happy patient as well 😂😂 they said the same thing to me when they wheeled me into the room. I also had endo carcinoma. My period also came before surgery 😂 i was like bruh. I had a hard time deciding on doing the surgery because I dont have any children, but I ultimately decided that life was more valuable than having children.

I’m 3 weeks post op my vaginal hysterectomy and also shared my journey on my channel. I’m so glad more and more women are speaking on this so it’s not taboo especially with the recent passing of Jessica Pettway who was misdiagnosed. Women’s health has to be taken more seriously and the only way to make that happen is by us women taking control of our bodies and asking the right questions while being insistent on the care and direction they feel they need. I truly hope anyone considering this surgery to imagine their lives without all the suffering you’ve done in silence and imagine what your life will look like without that monthly fear of that time coming again. It’s been a blessing for me so far. I’m a 43 year old Mom of 5 ages 10-23 for reference.

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your story!I am getting ready to have an open hysterectomy on July 31st. Im so nervous but excited at the same time. My uterus is measuring as if I were 20+ weeks pregnant. I have multiple fibroids measuring 9-10 cm. My surgeon says he'll probably have to do a verticle cut because my uterus is so big. Amen I just had a total Laporscopi ....I'm on day 2 and is feeling wonderful...I had fibroid and a large uterus that weighed like 3lbs. I have my ovaries... my stomach is smaller than when I went in... I was told by my primary dtr to exercise my stomach muscles prior to surgery.. and I did, I think that played a Hugh part with my healing...day 2 post I feel good...

Appreciate your perspective. I’ve had 2 c-sections and will have my hysterectomy in 2 weeks. I always wondered how it felt from a person who has had c-sections. I agree with how this surgery does improve our quality of life. I’ve had 3 blood transfusion in the 4 years that I’ve had this fibroid and I’m am ready to get this thing out. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks so much for sharing. I didn’t have a hysterectomy but I’m 3 weeks post op from an abdominal myomectomy with a c section incision as well and I can so relate to your experience. During the surgery a condition called adenomyosis was discovered however, which I had never heard of even with all my prior research, and the only cure for that if it causes complications is hysterectomy so it is still so very helpful to be informed. I agree that there was so much peace in preparation prior to my procedure just making sure things were done and in order and yes we need to talk more about these things, because knowing is half the battle. Gods willing I am scheduled for surgery 15 June🙏🏾🙏🏾 Even now I'm a bit nervous, but I trust God . I have had two previous myomectomies, and the last one, the dr told me if the fibroids came back, this would have to be the likely outcome, so here we are. I'm a single 56 year old, no kids. Hi Friend! GOD is amazing! Thanks for your awesome feedback. Okay, so my stomach definitely got bigger before my surgery so I really didn’t feel comfortable working out. After my surgery it got so flat. 3 months post surgery I can exercise a bit more but decided to try my waist trainer again. I am focusing on getting back to the basics of walking and stretching. Just listening to your body and focus on healing. The rest will fall into place. You’ve got this!

Surprisingly I never had gas after surgery. I think taking Miralex before surgery help out alot
