Welcome all console players!! This tutorial was done on an older version of Stranded Deep for PC, so a few things have changed, but it will still help you figure out the basics. The controls will of course be different on console. Newer features (not shown in this video) include a skill leveling up system, new sharks as well as giant boars and giant crabs that are larger and much nastier than the normal sized ones. Aloe salve's also work differently now - they only last 1 day, so use sparingly or just cool off in the shade or in the water for a while to avoid sunstroke. Fibrous leaves are also in a more limited supply on console, so use palm fronds for the water still if you can. Leave fibrous leaves for making lashings when possible. I also have a Let's Play HARD series where I play on the HARD difficulty setting and it has the newer content part way through, including all the new animals, leveling up etc, so check it out too. Oh, and yes, I know I said Southwest, when the compass was actually pointing Southeast. Mistakes happen!
Build my first raft with two tires on ps4. It keeps tipping over when it's hits the water. The sail is much to big for the ship itself.... Demolished it build it again. Same problem. Rudder doesn't help either
@@ducatiniels Never seen that before. A 1 section raft with a sail is very maneuverable, and can flip if hit by a shark, but it shouldn't just flip over when you place it in the water. Could be a PS4 specific problem, or maybe try waiting until you have an extra raft section you can add to it to make it more stable. Doesn't matter which raft base material you use, just use whatever you have (tires, barrels, buoy balls or even sticks) and attach it to the tire base that you already have. NOTE that you have to attach the additional raft bases as you build them... you can't build them in 2 separate locations and then attach them.

You literally taught me so much. Thank you. I play The Forest so much, and I've beaten it half a dozen times, so I wanted a new survival game, and I saw Stranded Deep. When I got the game, I knew nothing of the controls or how the game even worked, and it seemed so complicated, but it's really not. Thank you again.

Just started the game two days ago and I had such a hard time haha Thanks to this tutorial, I've learned many things I didn't know were possible to do!
Well, if your game just updated to the newest version (0.60 stable), some of this info will be out of date (just FYI). There have been a few changes, but most of the basics are still the same. Now you have to level up in order to build certain items, they've added new content/animals/wrecks, cod now only give 1 piece of meat and a few other things have changed as well. You can see the new info in my Experimental 0.54 series (only 4 videos so far, but I will be adding more soon).
If you like this game may I also suggest The Long Dark, a sole survive game where you've crash landed in the northern Alaska area. You can play the storyline or enjoy several different sandbox modes, which are my favorites. There's also challenges that will give you bonuses you can use, if you want, in your sandbox and challenge play throughs. Cheers!

First question, is the PS4 version older or newer than this? I’m confused. Fibrous leaves kinda scarce in my version on PS4 thou. Only few small palm trees and only 3 yucca trees on this island thou
Excellent tutorial. The only thing I do differently is that I make the water still first and fish everyday around 11am when the sun is high. I do all my crafting at night. I´m subbing.

I’ve just picked up this game and had a few hours last night on it so this was extremely helpful, just wondering if there are any other PS4 players who are finding the controls a little difficult and clumsy it could just be me but it seems sluggish compared to this gameplay like when your dropping items or scrolling through inventory, still think it’s a great game though.
Oh my God!! You can drag items!?? Ohh thank you for making my life easier.. the raft, ohh the raft.. I always park it on the middle of the ocean because I can't do anything if it gets stuck on shallow waters.. but you can drag/pull it!?? and also, thank you for teaching me how to use the water still.. at first I put it under a tree, then build shelter for rain spawning.. but yeah, it's the fibers.. thank you again..
Outstanding my friend I’ve been playing this a couple years n I even learned a few things. I usually put a driftwood wedge over the purple starfish along the shore. Then if I forget that joker I can’t step on it.
We'll be getting this on PS4 on Friday and I'm so glad I came across this! I have a chance of doing better on start-up than I did when I first started Ark, lol. Will definitely be checking out the rest of the series. Oh, and subbed!

@@agoork01 Thank you! I managed to finally build my meat smoker, I finally beat the crabs and boars. I made it to another island with lots of shipwrecks... I set up a second base and have lots of good loot. I also found the shipwreck with the plane that needs to be repaired. Doing great so far! Thank you for your awesome tips :)
Took me a couple hours to get this game, but after that it's so fun. It's like Raft but on steroids. Rule of thumb: make a smoker catch cod in deeper shore like and skin/cook em as you need them, build a smoker, and a water collector. Then make a raft 3 wide for an anchor, rudder, latter a motor and a sail.
Me and my mate used to watch him religiously when we were younger and we always said he’d be killed by wildlife of some kind. Never thought it’d be a stingray though. Sad.

This recently came out on Xbox and I'm gonna buy it for the reason you stated at the end it looks like a nice chill relaxing game to play, differing from the relative stresses of the likes of Warzone, Fifa etc. Really nice video man great explanation nice pace made me pull the trigger and buy it.

This is an older tutorial series. It goes 13 or 14 episodes and is very detailed, but it is also a bit out of date now as there have been some changes to the game. A great Tutorial. So at 29:18 the Kura Fruit is "Plantable in a farming plot" (potatoes same) will yield how many Kura Fruit ? More than one I assume, or why not eat it at the moment. Same question with Potatoes (fuel for Gyrocoptor) One planted Potato will yield how many ? Thanks again for this useful walk (run) through.
The fruit trees, potatoes, pipi, ajuga, and aloe vera all produce a piece of fruit or a flower every couple of days. So, only 1 at a time, but repeatedly. If you pluck a wild one, it won't grow back.

i freshly downloaded the game in 2020 and from this tutorial i know alot of stuff now thanks dude + ( I got scared by the poisonous Starfish Aka little fellow xd bc i was swimming to get some fish and i touched it by an accident and i nearly fell of my chair Lmao ) thanks for the tutorial 10 / 10
All though palm fronds are essential to your survival. In the intrest of saving your resources, primarily stone, it is best to plant and grow as many Yucca as you can manage. 1 whack of a Yucca with your axe yields 6 Fibrous Leaves. Where as 1 whack of your axe on a Baby Palm only yields 1 Fibrous Leaf. Farming Yucca allows you to spare your axe or knife a lot of unnecessary wear and tear. Therefore saving you a lot of stone, sticks and lashings in the long term... as well as saving you a lot of time. Instead of scouring the island for hours searching for random fronds. You just head straight to your farm where you know there are fibrous leaves to harvest. In the end, work smarter not harder. Farming Yucca saves you a lot of time, effort and resources.
Yes, true. That wasn't an option though when this video was made. Yucca Fruit or Yucca Cuttings were not introduced into the game until some time later.

So, I am on day 6 and have come back to this first video several times now. My thoughts so far are: It's clumsy to do most things at first, and I've lost 2 knives and an axe because I put them down in the grass and couldn't find them again. I find the raft almost impossible to control so instead I am self isolating in this one place for now :) New palm trees don't seem to grow at all and spawning of small fibrous plants is very slow. I had no cloth at all until day 3 :( I don't find it like a game you play, it's much more of an experience of living a virtual life. It would have taken me a very long time to suss out some of the things, like how to actually eat a crab. So many thanks for your time in putting together this manual. :)
Just started the game, really nice video's to help out. still having bit difficulties in dropping the items etc but i think once u get the hang off it the game can be nice. would love to play this in multiplayer.

Actually the paddle does have another use besides paddling the raft. It makes for a fantastic crab killer.

Don't worry you can pull and push it yoh can build a ranchor for not losing it into the ocean

A great Tutorial. So at 29:18 the Kura Fruit is "Plantable in a farming plot" (potatoes same) will yield how many Kura Fruit ? More than one I assume, or why not eat it at the moment. Same question with Potatoes (fuel for Gyrocoptor) One planted Potato will yield how many ? Thanks again for this useful walk (run) through.
The fruit trees, potatoes, pipi, ajuga, and aloe vera all produce a piece of fruit or a flower every couple of days. So, only 1 at a time, but repeatedly. If you pluck a wild one, it won't grow back.
@@agoork01 Copy, plucking "Wild" fruits should be for planting, only eat in emergency (Starvation)

Thank you for this is just started this game and was confused I followed the game objectives and got stuck at the crab cooking part. Lol I will sub and watch the whole thing.
This is filmed on an older version of the game, so some things have changed. Check out my "Lets Play Hard" season, as it is more up to date and is still pretty much a tutorial. I think there were even some major game updates in the middle of that season.

All though palm fronds are essential to your survival. In the intrest of saving your resources, primarily stone, it is best to plant and grow as many Yucca as you can manage.
1 whack of a Yucca with your axe yields 6 Fibrous Leaves.
Where as 1 whack of your axe on a Baby Palm only yields 1 Fibrous Leaf.
Farming Yucca allows you to spare your axe or knife a lot of unnecessary wear and tear. Therefore saving you a lot of stone, sticks and lashings in the long term... as well as saving you a lot of time. Instead of scouring the island for hours searching for random fronds. You just head straight to your farm where you know there are fibrous leaves to harvest.
In the end, work smarter not harder. Farming Yucca saves you a lot of time, effort and resources.
Yes, true. That wasn't an option though when this video was made. Yucca Fruit or Yucca Cuttings were not introduced into the game until some time later.

So, I am on day 6 and have come back to this first video several times now. My thoughts so far are:
It's clumsy to do most things at first, and I've lost 2 knives and an axe because I put them down in the grass and couldn't find them again.
I find the raft almost impossible to control so instead I am self isolating in this one place for now :)
New palm trees don't seem to grow at all and spawning of small fibrous plants is very slow. I had no cloth at all until day 3 :(
I don't find it like a game you play, it's much more of an experience of living a virtual life.
It would have taken me a very long time to suss out some of the things, like how to actually eat a crab. So many thanks for your time in putting together this manual. :)
It takes some time to learn what you need to do, but once you figure it out, it becomes quite enjoyable and relaxing to play.

Just started the game, really nice video's to help out. still having bit difficulties in dropping the items etc but i think once u get the hang off it the game can be nice. would love to play this in multiplayer.

@@agoork01 disappointed to see it doesnt support coop on pc tho, friend bought it aswell becuz we tought we could do coop but app cant on pc while they do advertise it. other then that really hooked on this game atm.
