Well, I was 15k on kgs when I started watching your videos on UA-cam. I just kept watching the whole 2018 basic series in a few days and I jumped to 7k on KGS, 6k now xD you're awesome
16:00 -- Payton is his favorite 8K then....LOL Payton (who is actually more like a 8 Dan now) and I learned to count on our own, but I jumped my level a lot from his channel. I watched Batts and played tons of games applying the lessons. Combining the lessons with counting will jump you up so high it's amazing. Would you believe that I was a foxy 5k and KGS 7K last September and the ranks have gone up to 4D and 2D respectively now? That was in under a year. You can make great strides with this guy, stay with it! Any tesuji book written by Fujisawa Shuko and a book called "the direction of play" are also good hardcopy reading to improve.
@@paysonfox88 damn thanks for the random advice mate, I extremely appreciate it! If you've got any more advice kindly tell me. It's true that I never count, I always approximate, and it doesn't work out too well most of the time haha. I should also try and leane about direction of play, and tesujis I guess
@@IslamElshobokshy I have a very strange training regiment when I have time for it. I would not presume to tell people how to train at this game unless they were paying me to do so. However, I can say that taking entire games to work on one or two skills to the exclusion of much else is a good training method. Method from this year (I used just last Saturday) 1. Tygem 4D game -- work on direction of play in fighting only -- loss by 5pts due to not paying attention to endgame 2. Foxy 4D game -- worked on Shape with only instinctual moves on direction (not trying to figure it out), win by 20 and resignation. second game loss by resignation and down 12. 3. KGS 2D account -- work on fighting and endgame to exclusion of all else. Cut everything, attach to everything for no real reason -- just work on reading and tesuji and don't care if you win ---- lost by 15 and resigned. BUT was trailing by 30+ and reduced the lead to 12 at one point due to stellar endgame and focus on that skill. Play on multiple accounts, and pick a skill each day to work on for a game or more on each different one. Then, on a second day, or at the end of the training, play a serious game on your highest rated account (the one you don't want to lose on) and put it all together. I have no GO Clubs or people to play at my level within 300 miles of me, so I have to do strange things to improve. Without Dwyrin and Nick Sibicky I would not have gotten past 1K by now....I only could learn so much from my small book collection, and their tactics are from the freaking 1970's-1990's -- outdated and pre-AI. So, this channel will help you keep up with modern joseki and play style. My Training regiment for this game stems from the way I trained at power-lifting. Chest and arms one day, legs anther day, deadlift on Fridays with back and light leg work, and strongman full body on Saturday to put all of it together...That gives all body parts heavy work and light work load days and strengthens joints, and all muscle groups evenly. So, this is finding a way to apply that physical regiment to a mental game... Fuseki form the bones of a game, joseki the muscles, and fighting the joints. I'm probably the only meat head playing this game LOL
Great video!. Especially after such a blow, it is nice to see you moving forward as always. But no worries, as kj01a said, you can still rank up this year! We are all rooting for you! When you win we win, and when you lose we share that too. :) Love the video by the way, right at my level. I wish there were more like that (between 8 and 4 kyus). But I guess it doesn't sell as much as dan videos.
HONOR Sir, watching your amazing content.... Keep that going, you do Wonderfully.. Highly highly pleasure and actually I learn A Lot by your videos.. Currently I am somewhere around 9kyu..so this video particular helped TRUMENDOUSLY
Hey Batts! Nice basics video! Btw, what's that screen drawing program called that you've been using for a while? Also, brain fart at 39:22 because a 4-square is most definitely not alive ^^
You show us the shoulder hit with the person playing under it all the time. Could you explain why we can count on that? Why is it that they don't extend out instead of under? Wouldn't that counter the intention to "keep them low"?
@@Maharani1991 Yes, that's why it would be awesome to hear from @dwyrin what the thinking is - why can we confidently shoulder hit in all these cases when they might extend up instead of under
I don't think Dwyrin will do Taisha review unless you pay him to specifically do it. There are 100 playable variations of the Taisha, and I don't think Dwyrin even knows 20 of them. The Fighting variations take at least 45 minutes to review alone. Lots of ladder reading and center position continuations to consider. I've not studied the Taisha in a long time. However, when I did, it took me hours to get it down. So many possible continuations and ways to get killed, so much complication
9:49 - I saw that too Josh, however, You specifically say in all your DDK and SDK videos "we do not murder 7-10K's" That's not nice!!! I don't even sandbag that low, but I can tell your content quotas and Patrons need it, so I won't judge you for this ever.
It's good going through these older videos, because (imo) you do tend to punish common DDK and SDK overplays. Thanks again for this!

A plus modifier for the d20 INIT roll on the approach move. Lol awesome.
Thx for video. I watched 1st game twice in order to see the discussion of limiting influence near 5:30.
Haha the dogs bollocks - excellent understanding of English slang :)
Thanks for the video! Love the SDK games. I can't understand why this one has 5 dislikes, it was super useful IMO. Keep up the good work!

Yeah drawing threw me off, thought the 'stones' in that would be another line back or something.

Yeah, I'm often surprised that people don't extend up more.

ty!
Around minute 10 I am a bit confused. I don't understand how that stone would enable a ladder on e/f 6?

have you watch every go video on youtube i've seen you comment on so many different videos and channels XD

do taisha
You should absolutely call that out at 8k IMO. That is something I knew not to do at 15k EGF. It's basically textbook mistake
27:40 "We'll let it slide." Get it, 'cause white slid into the corner? :D
Hey ! Just wanted to point out as a 12 kyu, I think knowing the pincer joseki is basics, you could punish it (just my opinion)
Pls do taisha , I am very interested
I still see the mistake on the left side josekis at low dan on tygem semi frequently. So not very surprised the low kyus are not playing it right. ^^

What are you talking about? He never played it, just showed it in review.
