      Philipp Bayer has students from all around the World and doesnt give two cents about race.
      He is training for over 30 years and happens to be a 10 year student of WSL. WSL was teaching the guy in the video when he was a child.

    1.Speed = Win 2. Speed + Power? = Win. What if i have no Speed and Power?? If these are the two elements that define efficiency in wing chun. Why not study e.g. Thai Boxing then? It makes no sense.

      No disrespect, but you have a very bias opinion.
      We may practice Taichi slow but there is speed and explosion (particularly in Chen style) There are various techniques and drills in Boxing (from skipping, pad work,heavy bag etc which are taken step by step) , but in the ring the combination of speed and power are essential. In Muay Thai, we learn and drill the techniques at a pace (punching, kicking, elbows, knees at a steady rhythm) but combine them with speed and power in the ring. In Sanda, we study and drill the primary style or discipline and then incorporate the essentials of ring craft to prepare for contest (which ultimately leads to the utilization of speed and power) I confirm these theories as I have competed in all three fight disciplines with success.
      The elements are similar in application to Wing Chun, whether on the street or in the ring. And if you say that Wing Chun was only designed for the streets and not for the ring, then the question of "if you can't make it work in the ring, what chance have you got in the streets?" should be considered before making a final conclusion.
      I might suggest that if you find that these philosophies ridicule with what you would make sense off then you might not have realistic environment for your training.
      * If you have no speed and power, I suggest to stay out of trouble.

      It's alright, speed and power is not everything.
      If you don't have both, atleast you should have one important factor ;
      *Money* --> For hiring Bodyguards or Thai Boxers..
      Khahahahaha...
      Hope that might help!

      1.My comment was not meant as a ridicule...and i have never written its ridiculous. So please dont put words in my mouth.
      2. The ring is not the street. The street not the ring.
      3. Wing Chun is different from Sanda and Thai Boxing...In the ring there are rules ( no shoes, specific clothing, rules i could go on with the differences but if you think there is no difference well then , there is not. Everybody sees what he wants to see. Wing Chun is defined loosely by its overarching wing chun mottos these most wing chun practitioners understand and see them as guidelines. If the Principles are being totally ignored then in MY eyes it is not wing chun anymore.
      4. I dont know much about Chen, Sanda, Thai training and how every trainer in the world trains. But I am sure, they dont know how i train as well.
      The initial comment was posed as a question for those who have come to the end of the lane of speed and power and are asking perhaps in the back of their mind, was that it? Or might there be another way? Looking at it from a scientific viewpoint NOT a stylistic one.

      Good advice...but the initial idea of wing chun is: "It works for everybody" - not just for the rich...the advice fails for most people then.
