This is a great video! Cheers for making it. I needed a tutorial to repair a wind damaged patch on my roof. I've watched several already but yours is the easiest to understand and one of the shorter ones too

Thanks. I like the video. I have to replace a roof vent boot and damaged composite shingles around it. Your video answered the questions I had.

That's a great video. There is also a bit of comedy in it when at 3:15 ans up a sound is heard, sounds like a school bell, it's actually one of the tools slipping down the roof lol ! Down the ladder agan ...

How about trying to nail the old shingles back using the same nail holes (from the old nails that were pulled out)? Or applying some Henry's patch to the old nail holes left by the removed nails? Or would this be an overkill? Thanks for the video--very clear presentation.

This is such a great video but unfortunately our roof/shingles seem to be behaving quite differently. As I insert the pry bar under the shingles to loosen them, they do not immediately pop up as you have shown. Instead they are stuck down pretty well and if I am not careful they immediately rip as I insert the pry bar. Even if I am careful, they seem to be tearing if I insert the pry bar near the staples that are holding them down (forgot to mention they are stapled down, which as I understand it is incorrect for composite shingles).

+Jason Livesay when this video was shot it was cooler weather, well cool for California low 60's. When it's colder the asphalt shingles are stiffer and the adhesion strip tends to separate easier. The warmer it is the softer the shingles are and the stickier the adhesion strip is. Hope that helps...........

Mr. Damingo (I hoped I spelled your last name right) I have a roof that is approaching 30 years old. The asphalt singles appear to be holding up really well. How long do you think that shingles conceivably hold up? I'm about to start thinking about future repairs. Could the roof conceivably last another twenty years?

i use a putty knife...a pry bar is to thick and can cause tears... all shingles are not the same, some need more tlc to prevent damage...

Disgusting how easy for him carefully lifted up all my shingles to remove the nails and every one of them busted or cracked no matter how carefull I was my one shingle replacement went into 6 and not I am up into the ridge cap and dont know what to do? And my roof was competely replaced in 2018 Still dont know what to do the more I went the more shingles cracked and busted must be nice to have evrything go this good

The newer the roof the harder it is to remove single shingles as the adhesive is typically still in pretty good condition.

Questttion. If the roof has 4 layers of roofing shingles and the very first bottom rows of shingles are going to be replaced with new shingles, how does this work out with the 6th row of shingles that will be pressing down on row number five?
