- Want to make custom t-shirts? I used iron-on transfer paper sheets for a surprisingly easy DIY customized shirt. Choose any t-shirt design & print it straight from your computer. See below for more details & check out the design software I use here → bit.ly/Creative...
Should you use dark or light iron-on transfers? I go over the differences between light & dark fabric transfers so you can choose the one that is best for your t-shirt design.
WHAT I USED:
- Dark & Light Iron-On Transfers BUNDLE - amzn.to/2KnClW0
- Iron-On Transfers For Dark Fabric - amzn.to/2L4bJuk
- Iron-On Transfers For Light Fabric - amzn.to/2ImtqmU
- Adobe Photoshop - bit.ly/Creative...
- Bella+Canvas Boxy Flowy Tee (8838) & Flowy High Neck Tank (8809)- bit.ly/2vQvU6H
- Injet printer - amzn.to/2Gi69k4
- Computer - amzn.to/2Gk98IW
- Iron - amzn.to/2IqQDUU
- Scissors/exacto knife - amzn.to/2rIW8rd
- Pillowcase
STEPS FOR DARK IRON-ON TRANSFER PAPER:
1. Choose a t-shirt design and prep your graphic on a program such as Photoshop (bit.ly/Creative.... Add a stroke if your design is mainly white so it’s easier to cut out.
2. Print out your graphic on regular paper as a test. Once you have adjusted the size and design, print it out on the iron-on transfer paper.
3. Cut out the graphic from the transfer paper. If you leave any white it will be transferred as white so make sure your cut thoroughly.
4. Prep a surface to use by placing a pillowcase on it and ironing it until there are no wrinkles. Place the shirt on top and iron it as well. The surface should be hard like a table or hard flooring and make sure it is not heat sensitive.
5. Place the cut out transfer paper with the image facing up on the shirt in the desired area. Place the tissue paper that comes in the packet on top of the transfer sheet.
6. Iron on top of the tissue paper with pressure using back & forth motions & as every as possible. Be sure to have your iron set to no steam and remove all of the water. Continue ironing for the length of time according your the size of your graphic (full page- 2 mins, 1/2 page- 1 min, 1/4 page- 40 secs).
7. Finally, let the shirt cool for 2 minutes and then peel on the tissue off, leaving only the transferred image. & your custom print t-shirt is now complete.
STEPS FOR LIGHT IRON-ON TRANSFER PAPER:
1. Choose and prep your graphic on a program such as Photoshop (bit.ly/Creative.... You will need to reverse the image so that it is mirrored. Your printer may also have this setting.
2. Print out your graphic on regular paper as a test. Once you have adjusted the size and design, print it out on the iron-on transfer paper.
3. Cut out the image from the transfer paper. Anything that is left white will be transferred as clear.
4. Prep a surface to use by placing a pillowcase on it and ironing it until there are no wrinkles. Place the shirt on top and iron it as well. The surface should be hard like a table or hard flooring and make sure it is not heat sensitive.
5. Place the cut out transfer paper facing down on the shirt in the desired area.
6. Iron the transfer paper with pressure using back & forth motions. Be sure to have your iron set to no steam and remove all of the water. Continue ironing for the length of time according your the size of your graphic (full page- 3 mins, 1/2 page- 90 secs, 1/4 page- 45 secs).
7. Finally, let the shirt cool for 2 minutes and then peel on the transfer paper starting from an edge. & your t-shirt design is now done!
HOW TO WASH THE SHIRT:
- Wash inside out on a cold water cycle with low spin.
- Tumble dry on the lowest temperature possible or hang dry.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for explaining light and dark paper. Even the people at the craft store had no idea and told me it was just about how light or dark the fabric ones, and sold me light paper for my green tote bag and it would have had green in it instead of white! So glad I watched your video first!
I can't get the release paper off of the back and I'm panicking alooot
update: just use a knife
can you explain?
I’m so confused
Dhhdhx
I literally don’t have a peek at the back idk what to do
LMFAO THE UPDATE IS SENDING ME FOR SOME REASON-
2:48 for the love of God use all the transfer sheet Lol. a great tip would be print other things so you dont waste all the sheet even if you save them for later. a good idea is b-roll prints like a bunch of pineapples or praying hands or birds. Good video tho
ivan riobla I thought exactly the same lol 🤦🏻♂️
Can you print them and use them later weeks? Or does it need to be printed at the moment? Thanks advice!
@@artistaurbana9712 yes you can do that
What is a 'b roll print' then? Elaborate please
You're killing me...wasting so much perfectly good transfer paper!
How else could she had used it? her graphics were centred
@@cryptocomix more motives on one paper
@@cryptocomix i have to fill the paper with other designs that i could use on other shirts, or pouches.

I'm planning on doing this except I'm drawing my own shirt thing on an art app THANK YOU!!!
In reply to everyone the t-shirt art has worked I suggest using a wooden board! Because a table finish may melt. So just a quick note!
Hey, I was thinking the same thing! Has it worked ?
Did it work? (Doing the same)
I’d also like to know since that’s exactly what I’m doing
Art app?
I'm 5 years late, but this helped so much. This is so detailed, i hope my shirt turns out as great as yours did !
EXCELLENT VIDEO
Note: the background noise/music was a little loud, making it hard to Hear YOU at time..
We don't need background noise/music...
We just want to HEAR YOU TALK
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video.
For anyone who used gift tissue paper and got it stuck to the shirt - use a wet knife! Works like a charm
So what paper do I order that’s peeled back like that? I’m selling t-shirts and I’m ordering the supplies to start so I can do it from home!
Transfer Paper
Very helpful! I made custom "Among Us" graphics for my nephews and I've never used transfer paper before. Thank you!!
I accidentally printed on a laser printer and it still worked just do a few at a time to let the printer cool down
Wait it actually works because I don't have a inkjet printer did u use a specific transfer paper
Naima Tasnim no it was the Walmart kind you can find it in the crafts area it works but just let the printer cool down in between uses or it’ll melt
@@ohthatsti thank you so much
This was awesome! Keep making vid's girl they're use full!
You have a very soft voice. I like it!
I'm a freelance artist. Recently, I collected cardboard dividers from a warehouse that I worked in. They're thin & shaped like paper but too hard to in a printer. Besides drawing on them, I couldn't find anything else to do with them until now. Maybe I can buy and use some transfer paper for them.
Wooo wooo!! Amazing video 😍
Thank you hubby ❤️💕
Can u use light transfer paper on dark shirts(black)? If the design has white how will it be?
Just made my first shirt for my son, your video was extremely helpful. Thank you!!
If you don't mind me asking which app did you use?

Perfect example and thanks!!
So long as you have the transfer sheets to print, can you use procreate to design onto as well? Thank you

Hello, I would like to know. If I print on colored or pastel T-Shirt, which transfert papier should I take ?
Dark transfer
Do you know how many washes will the design last before it starts to crack?
Question why do you have to flip it ? White vs dark and why do you take off the paper vs not taking it off
Hi Excuse me! BUT I HAVE A QUESTION, how durable is this transfer paper? How long does the transfer paper (dark) last for?
So the difference between light and dark is that dark you peel off first and then iron with the paper on top and for the light one you have to flip the letters backwards and iron without the paper and then peel off?
I’m using a white tshirt but I I’m also using word document so how can I flip my picture on word document?
Hi amanda can I light fabric transfer paper print on my dark tshirt paper nd how
You blessed tshirt how to remove back side paper coz my light fabric paper can't be remove first then iron please help
IS IT WATERPROOF
follow the time it shows on the instructions. I got an ugly iron marking in 2 minutes and I had a big picture. I did it again and it did well with the instructed 25-40 secs on the package it came in
Wait so u need a different type of printer??
hey so i bought a dark transfer paper can print a dark image on it on a black tee ?
Yeah
Can confirm
all this videos on youtube about this transfer paper keep failing to state an important part which is WHAT PRINTER THEY USED!
Can you explain what to do if the package didn’t have the tissue paper didn’t come in the pack like what to use
Beautiful tutorial dear. Please what ink did you use? The one that came with your printer?
should I use light or dark transfer paper for a yellow shirt?
Loved the video!! What program did you use do make/edit the design?
What would you have to do if their was holes in the design and it’s to hard to cutout
Stupid question, do I just use peel and stick printer paper? Like shipping label paper?
Keep up the good work chula 😘
Great Job Loved your video, Thank you.
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. You made it so simple and easy to understand. Just wanted to know if this worked for larger projects as well or should I stick with something small?
What is the difference between light and dark transfer paper? Which one is the best to use?
I wanted some splatoon merch n stuff but its suuper hard to find/ most stores dont ship to canada so im definitely gonna buy some transfer paper and go ham. awesome
What if I'm printing on orange with black ink? Should I use light or dark transfer paper?
Do you need to mirror the image?
So I have a white logo with a lot of seperate letters I want to print on a dark shirt. Do I have to cut out all the letters seperately? Or is there a way that part of the logo will print transparently?
That is my issue . DO you have any suggestions ?
Does it wash out in the washing machine?
Hii!! so if i wanted to transfer a picture into a regular blue jeans which transfer paper should i use dark or light? Thanks in advance
How long would i need to leave easy press on for dark fabric.?
I love your video! Thank you so much!!
Is this for ordinary print ink?
is it the same way if using a microfiber type shirt?
the problem is after i washed my shirt, the colour bled a lot :( i tried hand(no softener and rough brushing) and machine wash(with softener) but both bled. idk where i did wrong. is it my transferring technique, transfer paper or printer?
Can I use 60% cotton and 40% polyester
Did you find out?
I did transfer my design but still has the white background it was transparent background from procreate what transfer paper would I use for white t shirts
Can I use a dark on a white if I don’t care that it shows up as white?
Can we use dark transfer with white T-shirt?
These transfer papers are used only oncee??
Do you need to use photoshop ?
How long did these hold up? More specifically the light transfer. I've used some that have turned yellow, cracked, peeled, and melted on a low cycle. I just want to know if they've lasted and how well they did Thanks in advance!
Rvndy Serrano as i read on the internet, u should use one that’s more expensive.I have read lots of negative reviews at the cheapest ones.
Maybe if you place your item into a soft cloth bag before putting into the wash, women do this with expensive lingerie and soft clothes
I was told by someone who does that as her job, that it is important to use the right t shirt . It for example peels off quickly of Classic cotton FOTL shirts.
You are a blessing. Thank you
how many washing cycles do they last for ?
I am planning to use this. so let's say you but in the wash and dryer will it get ruined or how much longer does stay on for
Try washing it inside out
What graphics app do you use? I'm just learning and starting out
what happens if you wash it in the washing machine?
Can you use Microsoft Word? That's the only one I have
Great video, thank you so much. I've been trying to print my logo on a shirt for a while and this is perfect! Thanks again.
is there any other application i can use to make my design like the words ?
maybe you could try pixlr background remover ??? idk if that’s what you’re talking about tho
tried transfer a patch on costume vest (dark, vinyl, green), ironing came out faded. how do I prevent it?
How long do they last ?
Do you need pigment ink i watches ankther video and and it said you would
How did you cut out between the s and e’s?
can i use white transfer papers on colors sky blue, pink, and yellow?
Very helpful!! Thank you so much :)
Can you use procreate for this on ipad?
do you used pigment int not a sumblimation ink?
does it have to be a ink jet printer? because i dont got one
Information is very good, thank you
So far I'm level 2 on crafting hopefully I can get to level 30 someday because I wanna be able to use this skill later down the road 🤣🤣 but on a real note do I need a specific link for this? Or will any run of the mill ink suffice?
I just got a new printer and would like to make myself some t-shirts. I'm looking at transfer paper, but I'm curious, what does the end product feel like?? is it that kinda...plasticy feel you get with some t-shirts? or will it all feel the same T-shirt/design? if someone can let me know I'd appreciate it c:
Is there anything to put over the finish product so it wont peel like a protection
I used a dark transfer paper n ironed it onto black material . Why did my picture come out dark after I ironed it on
Lol I made a graphic in ms paint but it still looks good
BLAZE BMXTAY can you explain how? I don’t wanna pay for adobe for just a few projects
