Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
41,0000
Dramatic and "Hoolywoodized" but pretty close to the truth. 10+
10
100/10 tbh
10/10❤❤🎉
"Prepare to Charge"
"Sir, we haven't been given that order"
"LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEROYYYYYYY JENKINSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"
Corwallis: "God dang it Leeroy"
Thats a great comment man :D
😂 I will always remember this comment whenever I rewatch this scene now.
1:26 It was kind of badass seeing the regular Redcoats plus the Dragoons charging in together.
Push forward. Goosebumbs. Every bloody time :)
I don’t care what anyone says. I loved this movie. 👍💪👊
Why are you using past tense?
if you truly dont care. why comment?
Hell yeah dude
Oh, it a good movie alright. But a terrible history lesson.
AL🍀T. BETTER...Than ALL the. TRAAH..Holly/Wood..haa became.😁
Opening fight be like
"they are just standing there ... menacingly
"OH NO!, He's going back to the window again!"
Bayonets were invented in 1881
*people in 1880* 3:01
Yeah like a bat
Just out of curiosity, so in close combat in that time, soldiers were issued short knives?
That’s just… wrong…
@Gamingboi3818 pal you got it all wrong the bayonet wasn't invented 1881 it was invented 1660
@@notchthegreatlion6805 it was a joke
I am not an American ..But a flag any flag that gives u hope means everything 🙏
It absolutely amazes me how any of us are here if our ancestors fought in this war or the civil war when fighting they just stood in lines and take turns shooting each other…. I’d like to go back in time and introduce to them the concept of “taking cover!”
Or ducking lol
If both sides were to take cover no one would hit anything, muskets were very innacurate
It was just a lot more effective that way in their time, grouping up together provided better defense against cavalry and you'd have more firepower grouping up like that and also that communicating was a lot more easier this way, I also want to mention that while muskets were inaccurate they weren't as inaccurate as people make them out to be, a musket could fire about to 150 studs if I remember correctly.
@@TeamQuiltzYT yes but later more advanced muskets could be quite accurate like in civil war with invention of the minie ball and other stuff, muskets became more accurate that's why you have people in civil war battles taking cover, but during revolution and earlier muskets were much more inaccurate and their range was poor.
This comment angers me, if there was a better way to fight, they'd have done it.
When does Washington cruise in with his car?
That’s a commercial, not here though 😅
You dream general. Such a badass line. Such a badass scene
Yup, by that point, Lord Cornwallis knew the battle was lost.
Tavington: Looks like my soldier days is over!
Voldemort: We have a vacant job here.
Tavington: Of course my lord!
What an amazing movie Id give it a 9 or 10, very impressive
i love how the title says mel gibson and not his character name lol
How nice of you UA-cam to recommend me this today on this fine 4th of July
Don’t make movies like this anymore sadly great film
It’s a war movie
a terribly inaccurate one that is quite clearly bias to the americans
I’m not gonna lie. This is me. Carrying the flag in battle. The best American Revolutionary War movie in my opinion. 🇺🇸💪🏻🗽
Which minute?
Isn't a good historical movie but as a movie itself it's pretty good
Anyone else get this recommendation on 4th of July?
Standing in a line 70 feet from each other exhanging volleys is one of the most terrifying and stupid ways to conduct warfare
Wasn’t stupid by any means unless you call not wanting to be destroyed by a cavalry charge stupid.
You're failing to consider the fact that technology wasn't as advanced back then, like the person said above being in big groups would provide better defense against cavalry, communication would also be a lot more easier since they didn't have radios back then and guess what? Muskets are single-shot and take a pretty long while to reload one especially under fire, if you lined up and shot in a volley you would just have more firepower.
Stupid? You mean practical?
Yeah it is stupid. Why would they do that? Well, nobody was that stupid to do that back then. This is NOT how armies fought back then. At least the distance they would shoot each other at. Engagements would start around 200 yards from one another. Not 70 feet. At that point you might as well just charge.
One of the reasons death were so high during the Civil War was because they used very similar tactics but with much more accurate weapons.
I love watching all the war movies
same
if your an american you have to love this movie 🫡
Nope
4:28
"Excuse me, who is that guy yelling No Retreat!!"
"Sir, that's Real Donald Trump"
"Mel Gibson leads the American Revolution" absolutely hilarious title. Love this film.
I still can’t believe that was the most effective way to go to battle
Historically inaccurate but still a great movie
Being in the 1st line is always a death sentence
people in the first line😰 people in the last line😀
4:25 if this isn’t the spirit of determination and the true warrior than what is?
I wish I had that moment too
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Team America baby 🇺🇸
Probably would’ve been a little better without the music in the background.
GOD BLESS USA FOREVER
HELL YAEHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
If only Travington listened, maybe the british would've won (im talking about the movie's universe, not our actual irl history)
One of the best movies ever.
Bro your profile picture 💀
I love to see the United States flag waving.
you see people are dumb and think the revolution war did not give people ptsd entirely but then once they watch this movie then they think differently:)
Hold the Line.
The actors lost Tom Wilkinson (who filmed Cornwallis)
1:32 why some soldiers stay behind 😢
2:56 WHY DID THAT COLOUR BEARER JUST RUN STRAIGHT INTO THAT BAYONET
because someone had to, it is what it is
Real thought 😂😂😂
He was lagging
very polite of the English to wait for the Americans to take first
Boy that British flag carrier really got taken down hard
Dan sekarang Inggris dan Amerika Serikat menjadi sekutu abadi dalam segala bidang
a leader will always lead the charge in the most desperate times no matter the situation
CHARGE!!!!
(British Generals, Officere & Soldiers Chanting "HURRAH!!" To The American Troops)
1:25
Name movie please
The Patriot
I don't get why they just standing there and take the hit
That was how war was conducted back then. Crazy isn't it
Because firearms were not accurate and also had a very short range. Massing troops was the only way to make the firepower work.
By the time of the American Civil War, technology had advanced to better accuracy and longer range, but tactics had not kept pace with the technology.
Troops still went toe to toe, and with the advancement in firearm technology, the casualty rate shot to astronomical levels.
I’m not really sure when Occidental militaries stopped the tactics of standing in line and trading volleys.
@@blockmasterscottsupposedly, Imperial Russia was still doing it as late as their war with Japan, despite having modern repeating smokeless powder rifles

WE WANT TO GOVERN OUR OWN SELVES THE CONTINENTALS SAID
สมัยก่อนสู้กันแบบนี้จริงหรอ
Oh yes they didn't have guns with mags they only single shot flintlock
yup, though, not exactly, this is the patriot, so there are very VERY VERY large differences
What if... they like... got down...? Had any officer tried that before?
It’s wild to me we had an ancient civilization build pyramids that to this day were unsure how they did it, but it took until after the civil war for people to figure out standing across from each other and just shooting repeatedly was probably not a great idea.
Yeah, it literally took centuries for military tactics to catch up with firearms technology. Even during World War One, field commanders were still ordering infantry to walk across open fields against belt fed machine guns in fortified trenches; pure insanity.
@@CaneFu you’re right. I probably could’ve stretched my example into WW1 I just view that as more trench warfare than linear warfare. But to your point it’s essentially the same thing, only difference is one is immobile and the other is running.
@@jacoballen4189 Yeah, I have even read that some machine gunners, after mowing down hundreds of enemy soldiers, lost their heart to keep slaughtering so many and deserted their weapons.
Mhm
This was the most effective way to do it. Muskets were inaccurate and took a long time to reload. Standing together increases firepower and protects from cavalry.
What's this flag at 3:13, please guys, tell me.
Regimental Colours, the Kings Colours would be a slightly altered flag of the United Kingdom, whilst the Regimental Colours are the Facings colour with some other details. Looks like the 27th regiment, not sure though.
Any comments from British people?
I’m curious to know, how one sided it would be if they’d used modern day tactics for this war.
Retreating the Britain go american
MURICAAAAA
Semua inggin tetlibat perang demi sosialisme tidak ada korban di dalam kisah ini cuma flm.ya baik.untuk di simak.aja mana aktor terbaik amin
The war actually happened you know
ok its extremely stupid to me why Cornwallis would give the order to charge over the hill when he was probably well aware that the Americans had several infantry battalions waiting.
Can’t believe Mel Gibson led two different nations against British
He doesn’t seem to like the British very much 😂
Aaaaand STAY OUT!
Not all Brits were bad. John Paul Jones. Scottish. Father of the American navy o7
I love this movie, and I love historical accuracy in movies like the next guy.
Usa is win
we get to live today and argue about what gender we wanna be because these men held the line instead of retreating 😂
Last I checked, Britian is filled with TRAs
Make America Democratic and Independent Worldwide great Again
3:31 Ok, why tho?
Done tons of research. I know why people have fought in lines. And I have no clue whatsoever. This guy is an idiot.
Well only officers carried swords
That’s what I’m thinking. Because that’s what any officer from the time period would have done.
白人系だと、Br VS AM toside true side OK. but, REAL scene' Movie too ‼️ That's right ^_^ 1:12
Can someone explain the part 3:25~3:45 to me? I never understood why the bluecoats just suddenly stop the charge and stand there, take a volley fire from the British, only to resume bayonet charging again without firing one volley back. It feels like such an unnecessary loss that'd have negative impact on morale.
I asked fans of Napoleonic warfare in my country and they claim this scene is actually realistic, because the Americans have to stop and reorganize their formation, otherwise the charge would be ineffective. But part of me suspect it's just an unrealistic scene and they're reading too much into it. I'm curious what American military/history buffs think.
I am not an american history buff, but tell me, did they list sources? if they did and its some stuff like wikipedia, be a bit precautious
There is no reason. It’s just stupid lol. Yeah men did fight in lines but they would shoot at each other at much farther distances. If you are already this close just keep up the charge lol.
@@HamburgerMan-ch1od yeah up to 300 yards and its fine, though battles could start up to 500 yards
As someone who completed 5th grade history, this movie made me mad but it’s a great scene, it just is highly inaccurate
In Your Dreams :) WWG1WGA
Why tf are they just standing there 😭😭😭
Tf you mean bro that's how war rules do
@@Russian_Government0 Did. Or maybe in Russia they still do. That would explain the reported much heavier casualties than Ukraine's.
Why did you end it at a bad time?
Mel loves to try to re write history
He leads “the Revolution” eh!? That’s a lot for ONE man. 😂
mel gibson is 400 years old?
This was 248 years ago and no he's just acting
Goofy ahh war
People don’t like this movie, because British are justice, they love the movie only against german
Why did they just keep standing there and let themselves getting shot by the bullets? I don't understand it.
Movi 👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
United Kingdom one
Americans don’t play ya’ll.
LONG LIVE AMERICA!!!!!!!!!

Long live the American flag Banzai🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
What is this war
😂
Mel Gibson
John Smith
Lt Colonel Hal Moore
Benjamin Martin
Is this a comedy? 😂
Did America win?
Are we a country now
so a man who wanted ohio is the reason why they lost.
United Kingdom one United States doesn't want to tell the truth
Its so stupid that a flag would raise morals no matter the flag.
You ever see Glory?
@@Batou3 That scene has nothing to do with glory.
I don’t know that think of them being brave or flat out stupid from all the indoctrination of just standing still in the open like that at those ranges and just taking it
Like all wars. a waste of good men.
Going to war is a suicide pact
What a dumb way to fight a war

That's how it was done because the rifle u shot once they shot while url reload
