Oh my god I totally agree. My son is 7 and is super into roblox and every person that streams screams the whole time and calls people names among other things. It drives me crazy. I'm constantly having to turn it down or having to tell him to change it because of the language.
Arcus, brother, you are one of THE most calming presences on UA-cam. This was a THOROUGHLY enjoyable speedrun, and I loved every one of your improved music cues.
Right, although this is quite common among speedrunners, because they know that everyone is standing on the shoulders of each other. No speedrun record was done without the work of someone else, so the speedrunner refers also to his community. But he cares about his viewers also, so it's okay.
This game :) this game. Man. Me and my big sis both got memories to last a lifetime. Nostalgy is at full force, not momentary, not fleeting. It's in every note of ingame music, every thrust of the sword, every enemy conquered and level gained. It is reliving childhood, when you understood so little but instead would let impressions sink into your heart and mind.
Nowadays it's like: "Oh ok, that didn't work, so it's propably this because of the way the game seems to be built. Propably so this and that first to advance later on, as X and Y are almost sure to follow". As a kid it's like "what is happening, what am I doing, where do I go, I can't understand" and so, you had to just... Go!
Zelda II us easily in my top 3 list of all time favorite NES games. "we lit the hot sauce on fire" I will never be able to not say that when hearing that jingle. Thanks Arcus.
People are still coming to old VODs of runs like these and I like seeing all these people equally as interested as I am. Even now, you're playing with power.
This game doesn’t get nearly enough love. Also I can’t explain why these speedruns are so interesting to watch. I tried to explain to a friend once and the words coming out of my mouth just sounded so stupid
High-level memory, coordination, reflex and dexterity. The synchrony of these skills should provide an intense feeling of pleasure and well-being. When I need to relax and calm down I watched the videos of this cowboy 🤠! Congratulations on your work and skills. Thank you for adding to my quality of life! Love this game. Pure nostalgia🥴
I have a crazy question...does anyone else get creeped out by Z II, lol? I'm not joking, I find a lot of the older NES games give me the creeps...both when I was younger, and now (I'm 38.) I didn't find that with any of the later systems (SNES, Genesis, etc.)
I agree, but for me it's a draw. It's the backgrounds, the sprites, the music, the whole package exudes the weirdness of mid- to late-80s NES games. I love it.
This an skyward sword are the only two Zelda's games I've ever beat and I beat this one when I was ten .just revisit this and God I can't believe I did it when I was a younging this is one of the hardest games ever .hats off to you brother
The nostalgia and music takes me wayyy back to a time I hardly remember. If you think about how ahead of its time this game was it's pretty Incredible to have helicopter view and side scroll. Like the first skyrim mentality when creating this.
I just realized that the enemies that crawl on the ground that look like football squids are a rip off of the “ohms” from naussica of the valley of the wind.
Whenever I play this game, anytime I hit a town, I hear the "that's a good clonk" to the town music... it makes every play through feel so wholesome, like watching a Bob Ross painting episode.
Man! When I was a kid in the early 90s I could never find bagu so it kinda died for me there, then when I was in grade 12 in 04, with the power of the internet I printed off a walk through, I got right to the final palace but I just always took too much damage on my way there and I couldn’t beat it… I saw this a few days ago and it’s been calling to me ever since… I just beat this game for the first time tonight and I owe it to this post!!! Thank you so much 😄🍻👍
Bro thanks to you and your awesome game play I lost a whole dam afternoon watching a lot of your speed runs! Keep grinding bro dig the stache, cowboy hat and bolo.
I love these videos because I love seeing someone kicking ass in these games in ways i could not in some cases as a kid. I took my time maybe too much time and there were games that i hated
Another strategy for this game is to not collect the stones at the end of the castles and jump over them. Fight your way through, then go back to them when your attack/magic/life levels are at their highest, collect the stone for an instant upgrade.
Love your speed runs man, but this one tops the cake. Zelda II was one of my favorite NES games when I was a kid. After the first Zelda, this game was quite the change. I felt like Mario in Link's body. Almost makes me wish Nintendo would remake a 2D Zelda game for the switch, lol.
