  • In this video I explain how I use the Eberlestock F1 Mainframe with two batwing pouches for saddle hunting. It hauls gear, sticks, and platforms securely and comfortably. This is a frame pack and can be used for a variety of applications: Extended Western hunts, day hunts, meat hauling, and turkey hunting. At the end of the video, I included a bonus pack dump.

    I got the x2 for Christmas. I love it. I can strap my xop vanish to it and my novix mini sticks and walk in.
    Going to try to invest in a saddle and platform this offseason.

      That's a great pack as well, especially for saddle hunting.

    You should do a video on your one stick pack setup and how you walk into the woods with a one stick. Maybe do both minimalist and also with the pack frame if your going back in deep and might pack out. Almost for sure I'm settled on the f1 mainframe just don't know if I want to get the switchblade or a kite. Mostly will be doing one sticking.

    Do you where your saddle under this pack?
    Would love to see a video putting it all together(carry in... climb... hang from tree).
    It seems like the waist belt from pack might get in the way of the saddle.

    Hey buddy, Appreciate all the great gear content!! I've learned a lot from your channel!
    I'm trying to decide between the Horn Hunter full curl lite frame, or the Eberlestock M1 Carrier. The Carrier appears to be shorter than the Mainframe and won't have the protruding shelf when up the tree. My question is, can the batwings be flipped so the zippers are toward the frame? I'm wondering how well it would work to use the frame as a knee pad and still have easy access to the batwings that are tight to the tree as a strap pulls the system tight around the tree. Thanks!

    Very good system and then at a pack and throw more stuff in. That’s the problem I have now that it’s cold to much extra clothes and all that stuff that I may need but when I do put one on the ground most of it is used but hay I’m enjoying it even though I have 41 pounds on my back. I live close to Alps so when they have a warehouse sale I’m there but it’s such a deal I keep adding to my collection and some for the kids 👍✌🏻🇺🇸

      I hear ya. Those mile long hikes in when it's 15 degrees are what had me looking for a pack that could easily carry my outer layers and my platform and sticks. Thanks for watching.

  • @TheWVgoodguy22

    Excellent overview of how you would use the F1 Mainframe and a couple Batwing pouches for a tree saddle gear pack and something that one could pack an animal 🦌 out of some deep public or even private land. Something that I myself have been looking for since I did win a Tethrd Saddle and bought the Predator XL platform, the Hawke 20 inch sticks and some other accessories. Plus even though I have not shot many deer 🦌 I am tired of dragging them out of the deepest hollow around.
    I recently bought the Eberlestock F7 Kite 🪁 pack that has its own straps and belt, but that can be taken off and put on the F1 Mainframe, plus add the Batwings if I wanted for a couple day hunting trip or I can do what you just showed us with just the Batwings and the mainframe.
    Sadly the Tall F1 Mainframe in all colors is out of stock on their website. I heard that they are coming out with a lighter improved version soon.
    Thanks 🙏 for sharing your thoughts on this setup. I look forward to trying it whenever I can actually buy one.
    Oh is the metal frame noisy when getting up and down the tree 🌳 etc… or while you are in the tree?

    So here is my question. I'm assuming you climb with the the pack on your back. Does the waist belt interfere with the bridge on your saddle at all? I plan on 1 sticking so I am wondering if climbing with this on my back also will create any issues as I am climbing or connecting into the bridge. Thanks.

    • @SaddleHunter
      @SaddleHunter  3 роки тому

      Yes I climb with my pack on my back. I've never found the waist belt to get in the way of the bridge or the lineman belt.

    Great video and recommendations. I had a question. I have Molle webbing on the side of my current backpack just like your pack but no compression straps. How could I attach my sticks using just the molle loops? Any recommendations? If the molle loops were the other way, it would be easy but with the loops vertical it makes it hard. Thanks so much for all the great videos!!

    • @SaddleHunter
      @SaddleHunter  3 роки тому

      You can buy compression straps that attach to molle on Amazon. They should work unless the orientation is wrong.

    Great review thanks! I've been really interested in this setup and had a question, have you tried packing the predator behind the batwings to the mainframe using the predator pack via the molle loops? If not do you think there's enough space for the batwings to zip back together?

    • @SaddleHunter
      @SaddleHunter  3 роки тому

      I have not tried that configuration as I do not own a Predator pack. I can zip the bat wings closed with the Predator behind them though.

    I am about 5'9" I have a ectomorph frame about 34" waist. What size do think I take for that backpack? Approximately how many pounds can you pack out deer with that backpack? Great video 👍

    • @SaddleHunter
      @SaddleHunter  3 роки тому +1

      I bet you could go with the tall frame. At the very least it will give you higher load lifters which is never a bad thing. I've carried about 100lbs in it with no problems at all.
