I love Judge Boyd but why did she allow the defendants lawyer to chime in when the defendant was not answering her question? I would have said…”Counsel, I was waiting for an answer from your client!” 🤬

Because the defendant has the right to remain silent their representation, they are there to represent him and speak for him. That is why

probation must be the most abused laws in the world. Is there anyone who actually does probation without issue.

Getting revoked on your first violation is pretty rough... I've never seen it happen without someone picking up a new charge. Even then it's not always ganna happen. Most judges will give you at least 2 before you get revoked.

You only see the failed probations - around 66% of probations are completely successful. Without a probation system the US would have to build hundreds of jails/prisons to accommodate even first offenders causing them to lose their jobs & it would cost welfare millions/billions of dollars to support families who have lost their main breadwinner. USA is already locking up too many people.

I usually agree with this judge but this was too harsh. I’ve seen people get less for sex crimes and murder. And it was a plea bargain. That’s insane.

Probation sounds annoying, but it’s a max of 3 years and replaces jail time (in this case min 10 years?) I do feel for this man but come on, they already gave him a huge break. I’d be making sure I follow that agreement to the letter. Although I also wouldn’t be stealing from the elderly so I guess everyone’s different.

Probation isn’t a max a three years! Where are you pulling that from?

They should call this judge out. She is a lunatic with the sentences. She hands out 50-year sentences like she's handing out candy!

Don't ask for probation if you're not going to do probation

He didn't get 50 years. Your math is off.
