Great detailed review. I agree with you that the turrets are terrible, especially shooting in the cold, numb fingers make it challenging to dial quickly. One thing I noticed is the parallax ranges on the scope are highly temperature dependent. I was shooting a match yesterday (temp ~ -4c) and I needed to set my parallax to 700 yards for a 190 yard target!!!
I have also noticed the parallax issue. At normal temp mine does not quite line up with the dial, and at a match I shot at about 17 degrees f, I had it dialed to infinity and it still couldn’t focus at 300.
Womy, i have exact scope Gen III 6x36x56 and had same issues. Someone told me about "THE FIX" And to send it back to vortex telling them about the mushy feel and how while turning the turret with the very slightest of downward pressure it falls and locks on you. I sent mine back to vortex in the USA and they came back as pretty much the BEST turrets I have period. I have 2 NF ATACR's a 5x25x56 and a 7x35x56 neither come close to the Razor Gen III AFTER THE FIX. is it at all possible that you can send it to the USA? Just curious. But I love my scope. And love the reticle. Mill XT is also my all time favorite
Absolutely love my Razor gen3 and it's kinda spoiled my other optics lol. I know of others that sent theirs in and had their turrets fixed. I'm still debating sending mine in bc my turrets are super hard to unlock and can accidentally lock while dialing as well. I hated the color at first too haha. I wish they had a small open spot at the half mil marks in the reticle or small dot. Great video man and honest review.
Just got one for the 13, 16 girls. They were running a EP5, but the won a big discount at the PRS match from Euro Optic, so we were out the door a little less expensive. They just mounted in tonight, so they should be ready for the match this weekend. They got their MDT chassis, and other MDT gear, and a new barrel etc, on their smoothed-out Begera Action. Their pretty excited, and they want to start working their way up in PRS and NRL.
I agree completely about the illuminated tree. I wish they would have done that as well. I have several PST Gen 2 and love that reticle. Another great video.
Also, what do you prefer for your max zoom range, ~36x or ~25x? Seems you'll often get much more elevation travel on a 25x scope. For example the Tract Toric has 47 mils and the Zeiss S3 has 46 mils. I think the Razor 36x is around 36 mils.
Great review, have you compared this to a Element Theos? How do you think they compare Re things like eyebox and glass quality? They seem very similar, but the Theos turrets are amazing IMO.
What's your opinion on aperture rings on a high quality scope, if you've ever used one? They increase your depth of field but reduce the total amount of light collected.
When the video first starts, the mount in front is the Gray Ops, and the one in the rear is the M-Brace by ARC. I have the M-Brace on my ZCO 840 and Trijicon Tenmile; I like its beefy construction. 👍🏼
Hey man, I met you at nationals and it was definitelya woods match, great video btw! I agree with the turrets. I also asked if they could delete the lock and was told no in September '24...wth Vortex? I ended up going back to NF because I hated the locking elevation
This is a great series man !!! Thanks for taking the time
Thanks Joe!

Thanks. I can’t say I’ve ever experienced that temperature issue

@@Magicalamazingvery strange, I can’t say I’ve ever experienced that and I shoot a lot in the cold!
@@Womfat yeah I asked you if you noticed that at Cattaraugus. I’m going to send it in to Vortex, see if it’s something they can fix.

Hi Matt. You should look at the Element Theos. 6-36x56 it’s reticle is completely illuminated
Great video as usual
Keep up the good work

Good video Matt, hopefully they will update the turrets, lot of good infomation
Great video as always Matt. I’m gonna guess the night force for your next optic.
Great review, thanks!

I would still take the 36x generally because I do sometimes crank of the magnification and I don’t need more than ~30mrad in my scope

I played around with this briefly, the element theos comes with an aperture ring. I didn’t find it very beneficial overall.
so what are those mounts that you have on the two optics?
When the video first starts, the mount in front is the Gray Ops, and the one in the rear is the M-Brace by ARC.
I have the M-Brace on my ZCO 840 and Trijicon Tenmile; I like its beefy construction. 👍🏼

Who makes the scope mount your using?
One is in the Gray Ops and the other in an American Rifle Co.
Your elevation numbers are also different, white with black lettering. Your video sealed the purchase of me getting a razor.
Those are vinyl tape wraps from IDTS, let’s you use them as a whiteboard for marking
Primary arms is suppose to be releasing an auto on off battery cap for the vortex hd lines at shot 2025
That’s super interesting and would be awesome
The scope colour is to make sure everyone on the line knows you’re not shooting a rival like a poor man! 😇🤦🏼
Quality stuff no doubt
So what IS the perfect PRS scope (in your opinion)?
Not sure I’ve found one yet. And I don’t think there would only be one perfect one, there could be multiple that are perfect for someone
Send it back. They will fix it.
