a lot of poor people grew up eating spam as well, like myself. it was cheap, convenient and actually taste good. i even eat it to this day even though i’m older and can afford to eat fresh beef and chicken most nights
u should spread the mushroom when you put into the oil when cooking so that it will be "thinner" and more crispy instead of just clumping together and made them soggy :)

I don’t think you cooked the Taiwanese green onion pancake all the way through. It’s supposed to be crispy/chewy/flakey. It seemed and sounded like the dough was still a bit raw when you ate it…hence the texture and lack of flavor. Perhaps you can give it another try! :)
