Maybe the most famous piece composed by Beethoven. It's just lovely and relaxing.

It's quite the mystery who Elise really was, but through this piece she will be remembered forever.

Heard it was one of his students he fell in love with. He composed the beginning easy, so she could learn it fast. After she declined his proposal he said fuck this and made the rest of the piece so hard that she could never finish it without his teaching.

When Beethoven passed away, he was buried in a churchyard. A couple days later, the town drunk was walking through the cemetery and heard some strange noise coming from the area where Beethoven was buried. Terrified, the drunk ran and got the priest to come and listen to it. The priest bent close to the grave and heard some faint, unrecognizable music coming from the grave. Frightened, the priest ran and got the town magistrate.
When the magistrate arrived, he bent his ear to the grave, listened for a moment, and said, "Ah, yes, that's Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, being played backwards."
He listened a while longer, and said, "There's the Eighth Symphony, and it's backwards, too. Most puzzling." So the magistrate kept listening; "There's the Seventh... the Sixth... the Fifth..."
Suddenly the realization of what was happening dawned on the magistrate; he stood up and announced to the crowd that had gathered in the cemetery, "My fellow citizens, there's nothing to worry about. It's just Beethoven decomposing."

you know the difficult part at 1:03? there's actually a story behind that
beethoven made this for a student he loved, named therese, who wasn't really the best piano player - she was mediocre, at best. he made it so easy that she could play it and also impress people which is why it seems so easy up until the 1:03 mark
because beethoven found out she was engaged to another man. he pretty much made that part so she could never play it. he proposed to her once & was rejected so rip
EDIT: the reason why it's named "elise" & not "therese" probably refers to elisabeth roeckel. she had a flirty relationship w/ beethoven, so he probably renamed it for her because he didn't want to remember therese anymore

UntoldAnimations "Only 1800's kids" you obviously know about all the kids who go on 90's or 80's music videos and say "Only 90's/80's kids appreciate this" and "i hate modern music" Well i was doing a spinoff of that but saying "1800's kids" makes is into a joke because obviously theres really not any 1800's kids. There you go. I explained the joke for you. I should feel terrible about posting a joke on youtube comments? Ok well lets turn this around, you should feel terrible about not understanding an obvious joke. Sound better? Sorry if my reply makes you upset to the point where you have to try to prove me wrong or anything. If that comes to the case then ill be awaiting a response. Tchüße!

I'm not sure if I have a problem here, but I think I'm only going to be able to play this piece till 1:02 and I the reason for me is this. In my mind, when I am learning this piece, from the start till 1:02, you left and right hand are never playing over one another, but to spontaneously use both hands to play two different melodies is something I really cant do, does anybody else experience this? It's like combining two separate sounds as one, and I find it impossible.

    • @Mo_998

I think its basically called Hand Independence.

    • @trucker4472
      @trucker4472 8 років тому +6

Learn each hand separately first. Make sure you are extremely confident with each hand and then very slowly try to play them at the same time. Work out what each hand should be playing in relation to the other and with practice you'll find that it is not as hard as it seems.

      Some tips
Don't waste time on the first, or main movement. Learn it, and practice the 2nd and 3rd. They are much harder and require more skill and hand movement, especially the end of the second movement.
If you're not a person to read the paper, and memorizes the song, look at the right hand. Left is pretty easy and repetitive once you learn the whole song, and the right hand requires lots of stretches in certain parts.
In the third movement, alternate the fingers in the left hand when only one key is being played. Don't play A with one finger, use the first three. The music will sound more fluid and actually makes it easier once you master it.

For the 1:03 it took me a whole month (maybe around 10 hours).
This was the first song I've ever mastered and my first song. I finished it a year ago and i only had 4 months experience and all of that went into fur Elise, it's beautiful that i have moved on into piano, and i felt like i was giving up into that part and i never gave up and finished it off. Composing and creating are much harder than playing. That’s why them old school European musicians were so highly rated. Always imitated but never duplicated. It really takes talent to pull this kinda shit off in real life. I mean, hard work alone just ain’t gonna cut it.

@@GVZKeys I think the point you’re missing is back then there was no technology, just education being passed down, with technique rarely being found in poorer neighborhoods. There was no UA-cam, there was no Synthesia, no digital MIDI where you could SEE where the keys that had to be played were and slow them down. You had to be a master. There’s a reason why pianos are viewed as a sign of elegance, and nobility. You had to climb in order to learn, and even then had to steal techniques in the form of viewing and memorizing, almost everyone had to do so back then.

I've learned to play a number of songs using UA-cam. I would offer to help, but I can really only read the treble clef, and I don't know how much help that will be. I wish I could be of more assistance, but still I hope this helps!

Fun fact: Beethoven made this song for a special person named Elise. That's why it's called "Fur Elise" because it is "Fur" Elise

@@ArtisticAlly123 Therese was a student of Beethoven and he composed this song to her because he really liked her and she wasn't the best piano player so Beethoven made this peace easy.... till the middle part. That's when Beethoven found out Therese was engaged to someone else so he made it hard so she could never play it.

Very good tutorial! I learned the first part of this back in eighth grade (I’m in college now) when I quit piano lessons, but somehow the part up to where it gets funky stuck with me as muscle memory. Finally learning to play the whole thing after all this time, and you’re a great help!
