  • Stars: Natalie Moorhead, Russell Hopton, J. Farrell MacDonald
    Director: Fred C. Newmeyer
    In this murder mystery, a sexy blonde movie star is found dead in her car after shooting the last scene in her film, "Falling Star." The suspects are numerous due to her free and easy lifestyle and messy romantic affairs: her drunken actor husband, her screenwriter boyfriend, her first husband, and the director's jealous wife!

    This film is rich in Art Deco designer interiors and fixtures. Some of the furniture and sculpture shown in this flick would be worth tens of thousands today!

      You're right. I have a house full of antique furniture, and I'd love to get in there with a moving van and raid that movie set.

      I thought the set were especially poorly done. Just watch the doors rattle when they are opened or closed.

    A fine example of an old 1930s movie having much of the quality of a stage play filmed close up. Lotsa script dialogue, no special F/X, good story plot.

    This reminds me of the actress that died in her car Thelma Todd. She was living a wild life. They still don't know what caused Thelma's death and its 2020

    My only objection is that the director, the writer, and the reporter all look so much alike, it’s hard to tell them apart. At least the actor husband has a mustache.

    Love these old movies - and yes! #loveoldmovies , the art deco! The only thing w/ this picture is the cops are irritating and about as good as the original cops assigned to JonBenet.

    • @leelarson107
      @leelarson107 3 роки тому +3

      It's a Hollywood tradition to treat the police as inherently dull and inefficient. But they still call the police when they need them.

    47:20 Haven't seen the whole movie yet but thought I would take a break here to write this comment.
    So, the guy calls on the phone and says he knows who the murder is and fears for his life but doesn't say over the phone who the murder is and makes the cops drive all the way over to his place so he can tell them there instead of just telling them over the phone.
    I am going to assume that by the time the cops get there, he'll have a knife in his back.
    Let's get back to the movie and see if I am right.
    48:24 Okay, I was wrong. It wasn't a knife in the back. He got shot in the heart.

      I can't take five seconds to tell you right now over the phone.... So meet me in this dark alley in a rough neighborhood at midnight behind the dumpster in the dark corner of the alley.... and then I'll tell you what I could just as easily and much more safely tell you right now over the phone.

    I'm surprised that the blond star of this movie ever got into films. She's so unattractive and the fake accent she puts on is most irritating. I thought she might have been a man. To each his own though. She was married quite a few times so maybe her personality made up for her looks. I found one photo of her with her natural dark hair and it was a great improvement.
