    I've seen a video where someone took the filter box off and sprayed cleaner straight into the air intake while the engine was running to clean the turbo.

    Great video. #6.8mm# drill to tap an M8 thread. In fact I did it with a 5mm drill and M6 tap and bolt so I could have a second attempt with M8 if I messed up the drilling/ tapping....

    I put a load of WD40 in as well after I'd filled it with oven cleaner.

      No if I remember correct It showed a yellow coil on the dashboard and went in to limp mode with a fuel fault which did not make sense so I took it to a diesel specialist who diagnosed the fault as needing a new turbo.

    People believe that UA-cam has the answer for everything, well I have to admit it does!

    You’d of thought that the boys & girls down at Jaguar would have drilled a little hole in the turbo before these motors were even allowed to rolled off the production line, prevention better than cure as they say. Helpful video helpful comments long live UA-cam. And on that bombshell ..

    Mr Muscle is aluminium corrosive and attacks a lot of plastics and rubber. Buy some Wynn's Foam Turbo Cleaner or the Power maxed turbo cleaning kit instead. may cost £25-40, but saves you having to drill the turbo!

    what about the swarf that went inside the exhaust, did the turbo not suck it in ?

    Hello Lacoste, Please at 0:41, you use 6.8 OR 3.8 DRILL BIT? i couldn't hear well sorry.

    • @devscally
      @devscally 5 років тому

      Sorry Lacosrte Alot. If its an M8 bolt, then you must have drilled it 6.8mm. There is no way you could tap an M8 thread in a 3.8mm hole. Great video by the way. Im off to do the same with mine now.

    Did you have to remove your fuel filter as I cannot get the drill in there straight.

    • @nrw34260
      @nrw34260 8 років тому

      Hi Thanks for that. Yes I have a right angle driver but even putting the bit as far as possible into the drive I cannot get it at right angles to the turbo. Looks like I might need to remove the Fuel filter. :(

    Hi i have p132b code with flashing glow plug and engine management light. I want to try this what size mm drill bit you use with what tap. Also how long is the bolt needed many thanks

    • @schreineinAV
      @schreineinAV 6 років тому

      after getting the dreaded glow plug light and the engine management light (error code P2263) last thursday, and being told i was facing a bill of about £1K for a new turbo..... i took to the internet for some solutions! the jaguar owners forum and talk ford forum both suggested this! having provided a few laughs to my workmates and work mechanics with this, I set about doing this MOD myself....... so i ordered an 8.6mm (yes, it has to be exactly 8.6mm) HSS cobalt drill bit off amazon.co.uk for £5 and bought a right angle drill attachment (£20) and tap & die set (£17) from my local screw fix! the tap has to be 8M x 1.25! Took about 30 seconds to drill the hole (was like a hot knife through butter) and about 10 mins to tap the hole! you only need a bolt that's about 10-12mm long as that part of the turbo you're drilling/ tapping into is only about that thick!
      I'm waiting on a new turbo actuator from www.turbovanes.com and some forte turbo diesel cleaner i ordered off amazon.co.uk....... i've already sprayed in the mr muscle...... that was before i realised my actuator was completely knackered..... it's locked in the retracted/ down position (waste gate open i believe)! once i fit the new actuator i'll repeat the mr muscle trick (that cleans the outlet side i believe) and do the forte turbo diesel cleaner (that gets added to your fuel..... it's cleans the turbo from the inlet side i believe)! hope this helps!

      You would not use a 8.6mm drill for a 8mm thread. Others mention 6.2mm drill.

    • @devscally
      @devscally 5 років тому

      6.8mm drill for M8 bolt. 7mm would be ok but 6.8mm would be better.

  • @PLUMJAX

    you do mean a 6.8mm drill bit ?

    • @PLUMJAX
      @PLUMJAX 6 років тому

      It kind of does matter, your video was good and clear I'm just pointing out to anyone using it for guidance they will need a 6.8mm drill bit to tap for an 8mm thread .

    • @PLUMJAX
      @PLUMJAX 6 років тому

      yes agreed I've done this myself and used a straw attached to the mr muscle nozzle which went that little bit deeper and and allowed for more of the cleaner to get in there right to the business end of the turbo. I would recommend 8mm because it just allows that bit more movement. Also this video and a couple of others helped me a great deal. So far so good "sticky vanes gone" no limp mode anymore and everything I needed to do the job for less than the cost of an hours labour . So thank you
