Love cooked cabbage, fermented cabbage, coleslaw and now trying what appears to be a very tasty Yamitsuki Cabbage Salad Izakaya from Japan for the world to try and savor the goodness!😋👍and greetings👋from Mexico.🤠
A bag is easier because you can crunch it inside and the juice will spread evenly. That means there will be no hard or dried up pieces. In contrast to a bowl where you have to stir constantly or make sure the cabbage doesn't have different pickling stages at the top and at the bottom. You could crunch it in a bowl and move it to a container with a sealed lid. You would have to turn it upside down every now and then, but it would be more eco friendl than a bag. The easiest way is a sealed bag where you try to get as much air out as possible. But you can always work with what you have on hand. ❤
Thank you for question! We prewash cabbage before cutting. You can also wash after cutting but be sure to dry the cabbage first before salting. Hope this helps!
We used 1 tsp to approximately 300g of cabbage but totally adjustable. Some people have mentioned they used only 1/4 tsp of salt. This is a recipe that can be adjusted according to taste. You can also add a little chicken bouillon powder for flavour.
There's really no need to use a plastic bag here. A bag you'll use once then will tumble around in the ocean for 1000 years. Just use a bowl for heaven's sake.
The claw is only necessary if you are cutting quickly. It is just as safe to look where you are cutting and just not put your fingers in the way, though it is a little slower.
I definitely don't agree. Maybe it's "just as safe" for you, or for me...but I've seen problems happen too many times for people who thought they would be safe. There's no reason not to get in the habit of doing it and always use it. It's simple, easy, and foolproof.
Lovely but how about suggesting a reusable, washable container rather than a plastic zip lock bag which is not recyclable and environmentally unfriendly.
WHY BE UNNECESSARILY OFFENSIVE ? YOU CAN MIX IN A PLASTIC BAG. THE PLASTIC BAG CAN THEN BE RECYCLED SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM ? DON'T THEY RECYCLE PLASTIC IN YOUR COUNTRY ? MOST PROBABLY NOT.

Just tried it, its delicious. The salt and the sesame oil is such an amazing combination.
It’s fantastic 😋🙌🏽

hello! We love all types of cabbages too!
My favorite cabbage! Thank you for the recipe!
it is so good, right? Love how simple a few ingredients can be so delicious!
Greetings from Redondo Beach 🇺🇸🇺🇸Wonderful cabbage salad. Nice video👍🏽👍🏽
Nice, looks very healthy!
This looks great, I’ll definitely try it!
Looks yummy, i will try this
Thank you! We love the combination of sesame oil and garlic with the cabbage. It is so aromatic!
Would it be easier to mix everything in a bowl?
yes can use bowl, whatever works for you.

@@TheSidesmithI love cabbage 🥬! Can't wait to try! 😄
Yum
Yummy!
Thank you! So simple yet flavourful 😋
@The Sidesmith, thank you for your video. May I ask why you dont wash the cabbage, please? Best, from São Paulo, Brazil.
Thank you for question! We prewash cabbage before cutting. You can also wash after cutting but be sure to dry the cabbage first before salting. Hope this helps!
How much salt? In grams? Or percentage of the cabbage?
Is this cooked in the microwave?
there is no cooking involved in this recipe. You let the seasoning marinate the cabbage and eat raw.
Hi, is there a guideline for how much salt per weight of cabbage?
We used 1 tsp to approximately 300g of cabbage but totally adjustable. Some people have mentioned they used only 1/4 tsp of salt. This is a recipe that can be adjusted according to taste. You can also add a little chicken bouillon powder for flavour.
@TheSidesmith ty
Wonderful recipe, on a side note I think the video would be better without the music
Great recipe…loud music is not necessary.
Thanks for letting us know!
u don't need to use plastic bag. Glass jar or bowl works just fine.
Yes! whatever works for you to store and mix in all the seasoning 👍🏽
It looks easy to blend in the bag, while keeping your hands clean.
@@leeh6482 yes, it is easy to store as well
Indeed! Besides wasteful, that salt is abrasive and will get you a nice amount of micro plastics in your food.
Why the plastic bag? Yuck. When will people wake up to the FACT that we’re killing the planet with plastic.
Maybe instead of using plastic bag, use a glass bowl with lid, or a large jar with lid?
yes of course!
I think you could mix that in a reusable bowl, no need to waste another plastic bag.
How crunchy is the cabbage? It might be too hard for my elderly parents to eat.
the cabbage is still quite crunchy. The longer you leave to marinate it will soften but not completely wilted
You don't even cut out the stems from the cabbage?
Sottotitoli per favore

Don't you think it is unhealthy with that amount of salt?
Use Celtic salt & eat potassium rich foods
How much salt did you use? Looked quite a lot... Looks yummy but farty too.😂
About 1 tsp of salt. Haha, yes cabbage can cause extra gas! 😅
@TheSidesmith thank you. I love cabbage though, and live on my own, so it's ok.😉
Does draining the liquid cause less farts? Like maybe just salt, let stand, drain, add the oil and garlic and then chill.
@@TaLeng2023 probably worse! 🤣
The music is very annoying...
Good, but you should use the "claw" with your left hand and teach that to your viewers, for finger safety!
Thank you for the tip! Yes, it's important to be safe in the kitchen.
The claw is only necessary if you are cutting quickly. It is just as safe to look where you are cutting and just not put your fingers in the way, though it is a little slower.

@@sandyrothman2430 There's an Adam Ragusea video on it. That's OK you don't have to agree with me.
If you've had a lot of experience, you wouldn't tell people the claw is only for fast cutting. It's a good practice for any kind of cutting.
WAY too much salt! I made it according to the directions and threw the rest away. Use about 1/4 tsp max
It worked for us but feel free to adjust to your taste :) Good for other people to know can also use less salt.
Cabbage and Plastic Meal Deal! 😂😂
Lovely but how about suggesting a reusable, washable container rather than a plastic zip lock bag which is not recyclable and environmentally unfriendly.
yes, of course can use container
Sooo, you just used a plastic bag to mix? Are you limited?
yes we used a large ziplock bag but whatever works for you. Can use bowl like other people mentioning.
@ looks like you don’t know anything about how the world is burning. I guess you like not to be related to that. It’s coming to anybody. Wake up
