    We got the same model in my kitchen! We got it for free when we moved in and it’s never had a problem!

    A former roommate of mine had a circa 1980s blender that looked very similar to this and I was shocked at how well it worked.

      Yea, those old machines were built to last! The one here in the video is not very powerful at only 400 watts but, with the new blade assembly, it does a fairly decent job blending most things. I mostly use this older model to blend vitamin supplements for my pets. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

    Wow! A blast from the past. I have one of these blenders. It may have belonged to my grandmother. I think it is from the 60s and 70s like you said. My neighbor gave me a new blade for the blender recently--I just looked--at it is the same type you showed us. I didn't realize it was a more modern version. : ) I love the Mason jar hack. Thank you for this video! It made my day and week!

    This hack is also great for making homemade salad dressings. Just remove the blades, attach the lid then store in the fridge! Homemade always tastes better and is not filled with yucky preservatives or artificial ingredients. :)

    I want to thank you for making this video.. I didn't know about using the jars on the Oster.. learned something new today to save me alot of time like you said trying to scrape the mayo out from around the blades. I love it. Thanks again.. I just subscribed.

      You're welcome! The smaller Oster blenders are so handy in that you can use Mason jars on them. I only use genuine Ball Mason jars on this blender. Upcycled jars from other foods could shatter on the blender. I love the 6 point blade assembly as well. Thanks for watching and subbing! :-)

    How long can you keep the mayo ? Thanks for the great hack on the blender!

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  7 років тому +1

      It's been said that homemade mayo keeps in the fridge for about 2 weeks. However, I've had some for longer than that. The vinegar or lemon juice provides an acid that retards spoilage. With that being said though, it does not contain any preservatives so use a bit of discretion with homemade concoctions. :) Your nose is also a good indicator of what may have gone round the bend, so to speak. I use the rule of thumb that if it isn't used up in 2 weeks time, I'll get rid of whatever is left. I hope this helps. :) Thanks for watching!

    Hi , loved your hack. I found your video as i have a vintage Osterizer (c 1970-80) and am thinking hard about getting rid of it. I find it does not do a good job with anything but liquids as all other ingredients become stuck around the blades and I constantly have to stop it and free them up. I have found it easier for most things to just use my hand mixer. Have considered getting a new blender but now not sure iif i should get a food processor instead. I have a very small kitchen so could only have one not both. Vintage Imperial Osterizer Pulse Matic 10 Blender 854-04B. Are you able to share your thoughts on my situation?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  5 років тому +2

      I do have some suggestions for you. Firstly, if you want to continue using your vintage blender, upgrade the blade assembly to the one shown in the video. It can be purchased from the Oster website: www.oster.com/parts-and-accessories/blenders/blades/oster-blender-stainless-steel-6-point-ice-crushing-blade/118530-101-000.html#start=7
      Secondly, you could buy a new Oster blender with a higher wattage than the one you currently own. I have many videos of my 2 Oster blenders, the Pro-1200 with 1200 power watts/900 blending watts, and the Dual Action with 1000 power watts/600 blending watts. (I think the Dual Action model was discontinued but Oster still makes one called: Oster Master Series with Reversing Blade Technology. It's the exact same blender but with a different body. The features and wattage are all identical. www.oster.com/blenders-and-juicers/professional-blenders/oster-master-series-pre-programmed-blender-with-reversing-blade-technology---black/BRLY07-B00-NP0.html#start=6)
      If you check out some of my other videos featuring these 2 models, it may help you make your decision. Also, the Pro 1200 model has an option that comes with a food processor attachment. www.oster.com/blenders-and-juicers/professional-blenders/oster-pro-1200-plus-blend-n-go-smoothie-cup-and-food-processor-attachment---brushed-nickel---glass-jar/BLSTMB-CBF-000.html#start=4
      If you just want the Pro 1200 blender without the food processor, you can find it at Walmart for $59.99, the price the last time I checked. I use my Pro 1200 every single day. It can handle everything I've thrown in there. It makes fantastic smoothies and the chop/salsa button is great for chopping or dicing fruits or veggies. Please check out my homepage and watch some of my blender videos showing how I use mine. Thanks so much for watching! I hope some of this is helpful. :)

    Hello, I forgot to ask, is the Pro 1200 base real brushed nickel, or is it plastic built designed to look as though it's stainless steel?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  8 років тому

      +Sara H The base of the Pro 1200 is plastic with a chrome/metal shell over it. So I guess you can say it's both.

    I just got one of these new blades. I love the idea of making my own mayo in a jar. But what about the whole "shouldn't eat raw eggs" because of salmonella thing?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  3 роки тому

      I only use the yolks and adding an acid, either vinegar or lemon juice. If you want to be extra safe, use pasteurized eggs or if you cannot find them, google how to pasteurize them in your microwave before adding to your mayo recipe.

    Is the blade of the Oster Pro 1200 like the one you just bought for the upgrade? I'm just curios about the blade it has because I decided to purchase the Oster Pro 1200 and in their website they doesn't show a photo of it. Thanks for sharing. I love all your videos.

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  7 років тому +1

      No, the blade assembly in the Pro 1200 blender is larger than any of Oster's other blender models. If you watch my video on how to remove it from the blender jar and reassemble it, I give you a close-up view of the blades.

    Wonderful video. Can you or have you tried using a glass mason jar on your pro 1200 blender?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  8 років тому +1

      +Sara H Thank you, I'm glad it was helpful to you! :)
      No, the Pro 1200 has a larger size opening at the bottom of the jar and no mason jar fits it. Also, the Oster company does not recommend trying it with this model. It is much more powerful so IMO I think it might be hazardous. :/

    • @DoBetterEachDay
      @DoBetterEachDay 8 років тому

      Yeah, I was thinking about that as well regarding to how powerful the pro 1200 is. Unfortunately since I live in Canada getting my hands on a vintage osterizer requires searching on eBay and the conversion prices are extremely expensive. Nevertheless, I truly love this idea of using glass Manson jars as opposed to plastic so I will continue my tedious search trying to find a blender similar to your osterizer.
      Thank you,
      Sara

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  8 років тому

      Sara H If you have any thrift shops or stores that sell second hand kitchen items, you might get lucky finding one there. Also, the Mason jar hack can be used with most Oster blenders with that standard size blade assembly, not just the older models. So if you can find one with the black removable collar on the bottom of the jar, that holds the blades in place, you can use Mason jars with it. Good luck, I hope you can find one! :)

    • @DoBetterEachDay
      @DoBetterEachDay 8 років тому

      Thank you! There is a Thrift store near where I live so I'll definitely check it out. As far as using other earlier model Oster blenders, I've noticed that most have 700 watts, would that also be too powerful?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  8 років тому

      Sara H A lot of Oster blenders here in the US are 400 or 600 watts which work very well with the jars. You may want to visit Oster.com.
      They're website is full of helpful info as well as questions/answers on product pages of their blenders. It's a popular hack to use the jars with their blenders so I'm sure there'll be something mentioned somewhere about what blenders can be used safely for this.
