Another Mason Jar Hack w/the Oster Blender: Baby Food Maker

- CORRECTION: (In the video I used a 4 oz. jar, not a half pint jar as stated, which is 8 oz.)
In this video I show how you can convert your Oster blender into a baby food maker! Why spend a lot of $$money$$ on a plastic machine that only does one thing when you can use your blender to make baby food using the Mason jar hack and small canning jars. This hack only works with the standard size blade assembly & regular mouth Mason jars. Save money, time and have less waste using reusable jars and your blender that you'll get years of service from.

Omg! Genius! Thank you so much for sharing this! I bought a stupid small blender and it's crap. I never thought you could use a canning jar!
Glad my video was helpful. Thanks for watching! :)
We have several years ahead of us before our kiddos are having their own but I have already started getting awesome ideas like this for things to help them. I love all things natural, healthy, and DIY. Thank you for sharing!!
So glad to help! We have a new baby in the family, 1st of the next generation. He's at least a few months from taking solid food but that day will be here before we know it! :) Thanks for watching!
Make sure you use the PLAIN 4oz jars NOT the QUILTED ones. They have a slightly smaller inside diameter and the blade hits the glass. It sparks like mad, bends the blade, and will compromise the integrity of the jar. Just put one in recycling
Yikes! Good to know.
The same happened to me with a PLAIN 4oz jar but my original oster blade looks a bit different than yours in the video. Yours looks more symmetrical.
The vintage one is so cute
In Korea, 220volts
The Amazon Oster BPCT02-BA0-000 is 110 volts
eBay is 220 volts
I like being able to STERILIZE the jars so my family members don't pass their colds on to me. Mason Jars can go into the DISHWASHER to STERILIZE. I am not shouting, please. I am high lighting. I love my Oster and I really use Mason Jars a lot.
Mason jars that are listed for canning can be placed in boiling water to sterilize as well. I'm like you though, I use the sanitize cycle on my dishwasher. Thanks for watching! :)
I'd like to try this but decided to check with Oster customer support first about safety issues. They advised against it because of "a high tendency of breakage." Have you ever had any problem with the pressure of blending causing a mason jar to shatter or explode? Thanks!
Oster will never advise using a Mason jar or anything other than the blending jar that came with the blender, just thought I'd get that out there first. No I've never had one shatter or explode. However, I've ONLY used jars on my lower speed models for that very reason. The higher the wattage, the more likely shattering could occur. Using Mason jars on Oster blenders is nothing new, it's been going on for decades. However I do understand any hesitancy on using this method. If that's the case it's just as easy to blend your baby food in the original blender jar first, then simply pour the mixture into the small Mason jars for storage. It's probably faster this way as well.
Thank you for your videos! I enjoy watching these great tips, as I am in the process of choosing my blender :)
Do these mason jar hacks work for the Pro 1200 blender? I understand that this blender is wider, so I was wondering if you have found some mason jar that works with it.
Unfortunately no, there are no jars that fit the Pro 1200 model. Glad you enjoyed my videos. Thanks for watching! :)
@@helpfulnatural Thank you!!! :)
Great tip! Thank you
Thanks for watching! :)
What a great thing
:)
I did use it today my Oster classic blender with this small mason jar 4oz But the blades def hit the glass leaving a line around the jar! Im wondering why didn't work for me?
Will those jar fit the oster personal blender?
Did it ever happen that using this hack a jar broke or exploded? Would one need protection for the eyes?
I've personally never had it happen but there's always a risk. When making large batches, it would probably be easier and safer to just blend the entire batch in the blender container then fill each small jar for storage.
Cool Hack :)
Thank you for sharing. What model of Oster blenders will fit mason jars?
You're welcome! The red model in the video is the Dual Action which can be found at Walmart. This hack will fit any Oster blender with the traditional blade assembly and cap on the bottom, their classic Beehive models would work too! Most of Oster's blenders would work with this hack with the exception of the Pro 1200 which is too wide at the bottom and too powerful. Also the Versa model which is Oster's answer to the Vitamix, has a plastic blending jar with a larger blade assembly. So, most of their smaller motor models will work with this as long as it has the removable blade assembly with the black cap on the bottom. Thanks for watching! :)
Thank you for your informative reply!
You're welcome!
helpfulnatural Not to be repetitive due to the most recent question you answered for the other lady regarding this have but I've been trying to figure out if the Oster Whirlwind model will work with this hack as well?? It's wattage at start-up is 1000 and it's continuous wattage is like 700. So in addition to my question, I'm wondering if the Whirlwind's power is too much to use Mason jars...? And thanks in advance for your time and help!!
Those are half pint ?
No they are not. I added a correction in the description box under the video. The jars in the video are 4 oz. size, not half pint which is 8 oz.
helpfulnatural oh ok thank you

Thank you.
The Mason jar that fits classic Oster blenders is the "regular" mouth size. I am using Oster blenders sold in the U.S. I don't know if they are any different than models sold in other countries other than the voltage. Hope this helps.
Which blender do you prefer between this and the 1200 watt?
Pro 1200 is more powerful and gets more use in my kitchen.
Can you specify what model of oster brand do you have?
Never mind I found this online it's called Oster Made For Life, Cost $50. Very vintage ! Lol will look very out of place in my modern kitchen but...I want the convenience of mason jars so off in the time machine we go! 😆
The red model in the video is the Oster Dual Action and I believe it may have been discontinued. The mason jar hack can be used on any Oster model that uses the standard size cap assembly on the bottom of the jar. The Beehive style is very popular and not so 'vintage' looking as the older one on the left.
So any Oster blender could work in exception of the right blade right?
Oster blenders with the standard blade size as shown in the video will work with a Mason jar. The larger jar bases like the Pro 1200 will not work as they do not fit on any Mason jars.
@@helpfulnatural thank u!

2024 🎉❤
what model of Oster blender is your red blender?
It's the Oster Dual-Action model. It also comes in silver. I found it at Walmart 5+ years ago. They no longer carry it but I think it may still be available online. I don't know if the red color is still made though.
Will the mason jar work with the Oster Pro blender? Thanks!💐
No, Mason jars cannot be used with the Pro 1200 model due to the wider jar base. It will not fit wide mouth jars either.
helpfulnatural thank you for the reply! That’s sad that one can’t...
@@JuztMeMe The Pro 1200 is also too powerful and the jar might shatter.
helpfulnatural yes I see your point - 1200W is a lot of power!
What about hot soups or steamy foods?
If it's food right off the stove, I would let it cool down before blending if for no other reason than to not burn your hand when holding the jar on the blender. I don't have a problem blending hot foods in the blending jar but I don't do it in Mason jars. Hope this helps. :)
Don’t blend hot foods in a sealed container. It will build up pressure and likely explode 🤯
In Germany not Oster Attachement . Im search this!
