So tough to loose both grandpas so close together. Sorry to hear it. Savage .22's are always a great bang for the buck. (pun intended) Always good to see your videos arrive in my notifications.

I've had my Savage for 15+ years, lived behind the seat in one of my trucks for the first 12+, recently took it inside for a redo.. polished off the rust, painted the stock (camo), and found a scope for $30 on sale at Wal-Mart.. it's like a new gun 😅

First off, my condolences on the loss of your Aunt. You have had a busy and trying year to say the least.
I own (4) Ruger 10/22’s. One I’ve spent more money on than I care to admit. Another is a 10/22 Magnum. None have their original factory stock for the same reason that you mentioned.
I think it’s pretty neat that you were able to incorporate those rimfire scope mounts that belonged to your dad. Every time you pick that gun up to plink, hunt, or dispatch another skunk, you will have something that belonged to your dad in your hands and maybe conjure up a good memory.

Thanks for the great comment Boyd. You are right to use something from my dad's stuff with keep his memories going.

They say bad things sometimes happen in 3s. Sorry you've had a bad run. The Savage looks like it's worth the money. I had a 1022 as a kid, and if memory serves. I used it for a jack handle on one of those super safe bumper jacks from the 60s. A few years back I was treated to a Rossi Rio Bravo - 22lr lever action. It has polymer stock and foregrip. Holds 16 rounds. It lives in a cheap nylon scabbard behind the seat of my truck.

I think the Rossi is a quality rifle. The polymer stock with hold up better than wood for what you are doing with it. Thanks for your continued support

So sorry to hear about you losses hope you all can find some kind of peace in it all some how....
As far as the rifle $150 look well spent if you decide to get another 10/22 try getting either one that has the Hoge stock I like the 1 that has the ability to hold 3 extra 10 round mags in the back and that even is available in the take down models 3 different colors but each color seems to be specific to where they are sold...
Good luck with finishing up the hay for the year.

Love my Ruger 1022 brimstone trigger job, $25 Pinty red dot and a hot melt gorilla glue stick for a bolt buffer no kidding. I hope I don’t get a really big groundhog invasion. Things could get real sticky.

Man , sorry about all your loses . Each his own I guess , but I wouldn't be that thrilled with those groups at 50 yds with scoped 22 . Not trying to be a AH , but ...... Stay safe out there !

A friend of mine recently informed me that he and three hunting buddies from work discovered that their deer hunting lease had been invaded by cayotes. Between the four of them they have taken out over fifty yotes as of two weeks ago. All have been downed by .22LR HPs fired from the old Marlin lever gun I gifted him several years ago, two Savage 62s, and one Ruger 10/22. Anybody that says the .22 rimfires are obsolete never really, really needed one. By the way, if I understood correctly, the '62s along with "buckets" of Remington ammo, were purchased on the same day from the same Walmart by two of his hunting buddies when they discovered they were outnumbered by the yotes while checking out a food plot.

@@furmanmackey5479 that’s crazy. A 22 hp is more effective than people think. Thanks for the great comment
