This is incredible. I’m 33 so missed the golden age of RC flying but I’m so thankful for your videos. And I’m the same, couldn’t afford the models when I was young but I’m now a hoarder :)
It warms my heart how people are willing to donate so such a great cause. It blows my mind that the donations are more often than not NOS! I couldn’t imagine them going to a better person than yourself. I’ve been a loyal subscriber for over a decade and am always thrilled to see you being such a positive influence on the hobby. Nice words for sure. I really appreciate your comments. I don't think I will be looking for another Model A. Got nowhere to park one now anyway. I am just happy to be able to fly, especially with all the donated planes and helis I have gotten since the fire. Thanks very kindly, Lorenzo!

Well, the tiny piece I cut off really is nothing to worry about and the belts I have worked just fine, as you saw. We Marines try make things work no matter what, you know. LOL Thanks Don!
I remember that brand engine from the late 60's and early 70's but I don't remember them having those flat areas on the head. I thought they were round? The only mufflers we had in our group of flyers were those Talon peace pipes and those were only used to get the castor oil out of the enclosed engine cowls. Most guys liked to run without exhausts to be able to port prime them.
Yes, but back pressure is needed for proper pressure to run consistently. This is the stock muffler, not a tuned pipe as I don't want to mess with that this time around. Super Tigre engines have been made for over 50 years and still are. Great engines for sure. No need to port prime these engines either as one drop in the carb will do it. Also we don't use messy castor oil these days, as Klotz or Amsoil synthetics are much cleaner. Thanks.
Hi Dave, as usual another great video. this is for all the commenters here, I tried to read all the comments just too many. so I give thumbs up to all especially to those of us who want to give back to the sport and the people who support the hobby. dave I appreciate the advice you gave me a few months ago if you remember. THANKS. now I need another lesson. LOL. I am building another nexus in my collection. what I need to know is does the collective pitch slider suppose to move down to increase positive pitch. it is the same setup on my other nexus. I have found no info on parts to do this. so if anyone has info here I would greatly appreciate it. exeflieraty****. ***. Dave I will call soon.
Hi Jerry, Well the Pitch slider moves up in order to increase pitch. I have mine set for zero pitch at half throttle, so I can fly inverted when the motor is locked on full with the 3d switch. I don't know how you will be able to hook up electric. It will have to be a belt drive to the main shaft, in order to get the speed and lift for a heavy battery too. That will be quite the project for sure and I wish you luck. Thanks for the kudos and happy flying, ~Dave

@@GottiRC Yes, some things can be replaced. Some one of a kinds could not though, but we are gaining speed. Thanks for being such a good long time subscriber. I appreciate that a lot!
Yes, of course. Supertigre Italian engines have robust thrust bearings and can easily handle the load. Their not that tight anyway. Flew my original one on a Rossi Italian engine for many, many years before it was burned up in that fire, and never had a bearing problem in it. Thanks a lot.
@@NightFlyyer That's excellent! I know you are well aware of the loads involved. I don't know much about higher end engines, and was curious. Thanks and best of luck with the build. I'm looking forward to your videos documenting it!
It is a 3 to 1 ratio. So if engine (my Rossi in my old Pitts) turned 21,000 on a tuned pipe, so that is 7,000 RPM at full throttle. This ABC engine turns about 18,000 RPM, so that is around 6,000 rpm or so, which easily will fly the 14 lb Pitts.

great setup but I always thought the belt had to be mouted with the tooths touching the pulleys :-p
This is like a fan belt on a car alternator. No teeth, as those cuts are there to allow the belt to flex and bend easier.
How much rpm at the prop? 20 x ??
It is a 3 to 1 ratio. So if engine (my Rossi in my old Pitts) turned 21,000 on a tuned pipe, so that is 7,000 RPM at full throttle. This ABC engine turns about 18,000 RPM, so that is around 6,000 rpm or so, which easily will fly the 14 lb Pitts.
The Tigre engine does not have a tapered main needle atleast mine didnt. The correct taper ground in it will give crisp midrange
