That must have been a very fun day. I was able to get The Descendants album this year too. I'm not a huge punk fan but I do love that album. Thank you and take care.
I was shocked that there were two of them there Melinda. Okay, I would not have expected you to pick up that album. I knew you were a closet punk lol. I spend most my time socializing as most of the vendors know me. Fun time
That’s pretty awesome you were able to get that Descendants album! Nice promotion at beginning of video. The first bin you looked at had a number of bands where I was like “Who is this?” but I figured Steve would know 😁
That first box had some great Punk that Steve passed on.
What was crazy was there were two of those Descendants albums at the show. I got mine from a different vendor, the man who had the Adolescent album. Some groups I knew and some I didn’t This show usually does not have all those rare albums. It was fun
Richie as I was looking in that first box I immediately thought of you and figured you could navigate me through a few of those albums. Prices were a little high but luckily I got some good deals on some of them.
Good Morning Steve - Excellent Descendants find ..Milo = 🤓. Adolescents is a classic with Kids Of The Black Hole & if The Chameleons & The Damned were the Ltd edition double LP versions they are essential. The pizza 🍕 looked good 😋.
David, I plan to go after that Adolescents album, pretty sure the person still has it. He has his own record store and is a friend. I’m not sure on the other albums you mentioned. I will look at this again.
Hi Steve 🎉 FIFO. That record fair had tables to enjoy a coffee. That was cool 😎. You....overpay? Naaa😊
Lol, me overpaying, that is the story of my life Greg. It is a nice little show. This is the most I have gotten in a few years.
Great show. So good I watched it twice. I’m going to the Charlotte show on Saturday. Think they will have Neil Diamond and Cat Stevens ? Take care art
You may just get lucky enough to snag a Diamond or Steven’s album but get there early Art lol. As usual I spent most of my time visiting.
Nice pickups! Wow, lots of temptations there at the record show! Mike from Electric Crown Records always has the coolest records at his shop. I bet he brought a lot of awesome records to the show.
I got the Descendants from him. I got an incredible deal. Now I have to see about getting that Adolescent album
Hi Uncle Steve. Excellent finds from the record show. Thanks for taking us along with you. I got a kick out of the guys from Michigan Records. I hear a lot about Bloodwyn Pig but have not actually heard their stuff. I guess I should get on that. Have a good one. Cheers!
Blodwyn Pigs has some great blues rock Chris. The first album is better than the second album. The show was fun just to talk with everyone and catch up some Many of them do know who I am and try to get me to open my pocket book lol
Desendants rule ! I have been picking up All records with Chad as the singer.. good stuff ! Spaceman 3.. very cool, Steve ! 😊
It was weird to see two of the Milo Goes to College at the show, what are the chances of that JT. Spacemen 3 is another favorite group, it was a very good show this fall
@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Do you like .. " All" the band that morphed out of Desendants ? I need some Spaceman 3 on vinyl. and yes, that was fortunate to run into The Descendents " Milo Goes To College" at the show ! 👍 Great find, most definitely, Steve. Are they originals ?
Glad Milo found a good home! Always great to see you.
Thanks you Mike, really appreciate that. Do you still have that Adolescent album?
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Yes sir it is waiting for you.
Incredible scores man. Was a lot of great records in the flips.
Instead of NY Dave I did this. It was probably the most grail type records I have ever seen at the show. The vendors I really know well brought the best stuff to entice me. It worked but I did get some great deals
I've been looking for Milo. They really need to do a new repress. Some killer stuff in those bins. Cheers
This was the most big ticket items I have seen at a show. And then to find 2 Milo albums, wow. I got it for an incredible price, very happy with it. Still not cheap Jeff
Hi Steve, great video this looked really cool I don’t do enough of this sort of thing some great records there would have been an expensive day out for me I think just based on what you showed! Great finds. Take care cheers
I do generally focus on the grail bins, they tend to be the most interesting. It was not a cheap day. Like you, I rarely go to shows most are a couple of hours away from me but this one is close and twice a year so I go to socialize but they did have a lot of crazy cool stuff.
All the fun of the record show! Got a German release of that Dead Boys album recently. 👍
Dead Boys is an interesting group. I was nice to get this to put my saved vinyl with a jacket. Some of these albums are very hard to find or cost too much now.
Steve, fun looking record show. Holy shit that fluid - purplemetalflakes record!!! I have the cd. Never really got into that album. Cool to see if it was an OG from the 90’s. Great vid. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman I’ll have to play that cd when I get my music room back together
No idea about the purplemetalflakes, now I need to watch this again to see what I missed Steve. They had a lot of high end records which always grab my attention sadly lol
Holy cow. It’s first box of records in video around 2:14. Fluid is kinda like punk but poppy. Not as hard as No FX and No Use For Name in mid 90’s. And holy smokes it was priced at 80 doll hairs. Way outta my price range. Cd is fine for me!
That first box had some great Punk and Son House. That first one you pulled is on my want list. The one sided Dangerhouse. When I lived in LA I went to the OC Record Show three times. That was it. I would be in and out in an hour or so.
Richie I spent most my time talking with people. I was surprised at the amount of great but expensive records they had. The first booth is Geoff and he always has great stuff. I actually bought my Milo at a different booth, 2 Milo’s at one show, what’s the chance of that. I do want that Adolescents album.
Fun and interesting video Steve. Looks like a nice crowd! Milo Goes to
College looks fun (and I listened to it and heeey, me likey!)
Really enjoyed your video, again 😊
The Milo album is such a classic. I was shocked that there were two of them there. It is fun to go Morten to just talk with people which what I primarily do
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 it (Milo) does appear to be fairly rare in the «wild» here in Europe.
I had Deja Vu watching this. The first case was filled with great stuff. Well, that vendor's entire table was filled with gems. I would have bought the Alice Coltrane records (I've never seen so many in one place) and Wire albums (if I had the $$) Congratulations on picking up the Descendants album. Steve, you've gained celebrity status. Well deserved!
Yeah the show is fun since it is smaller so people do know me, lot of fun. The first table belongs to Geoff and he has incredible stuff. His prices are not cheap though. He usually brings stuff to tempt me. I was very surprised about all the Alice Coltrane albums also, kind of crazy. I bought my Descendants at a different table ( 2 of them at the show) for 1/2 price, it was a great deal. I had one of those Wire albums. I went to spend only $100, boy did I blow that lol.
I'll be at a show in a couple of weeks. Love Spacemen 3! I only have the CD... You got excellent stuff.
Thanks Brian, I was not expecting to find all these great records, could have spent a ton more. Should of, then give them to my wife and tell her to wrap them up for Xmas and say they are from you! That would be better than a sweater.
Well done Steve. Getting the Descendents was a great choice. I own this pressing as well and will never sell it. Every song is killer. Same with that Spacemen 3 12". Truly transcendent music and really more of an LP than an EP. Tons of good stuff in those bins!
Dom I was surprised with what I saw at the show. It’s a smaller one but they brought some cool records. Not all prices were great but I got an incredible deal on the Descendents. He said he was not going to bring that back home again lol.
Looked like a pretty nice show. You pulled in a pretty awesome haul. You don’t see that Spacemen floating around very often. We’ve all overpaid at some point along the line. Maybe many points. Cheers!
Lol, many points of overpaying haha. I was shocked to see two Milo albums at this smaller show. I think they bring that stuff in to tempt me as they all know what I buy! Pretty cool to pick up one for half price. I did go over my $100 budget by a mile
It's always great to come across fans out in the wild and it's even better when they are vendors, especially if they offer you discounts for promoting their booths LOL. They did offer discounts, right? Of course! Yeah, I can see I would run out of money pretty quickly at that record show. Nice pick up with The Descendents, and yes it's one to jump on when you get a great deal...Oh man, Spaceman 3....the gold just keeps on coming. I found that Blodwyn Pig at the last record show I went to almost exactly one year ago, love that album. Nice finds, as always
Yeah I know most of the vendors so I spend most my time talking with them. I got the Descendants for 1/2 price in a different booth, it was awesome. The first one gave me a little discount but the one where I got the Pink Floyd no discount and I over paid. Fun show, I left a lot of stuff I would have liked Mike
Great buys Steve, if you only had a $100 you must have had a great deal on that Descendants album. Cool.
I wish Mike, the charge card came out. I plan to get with the vendor for that Adolescents album also.
cool stuff. cant go wrong with descendents and dead boys. that first adolescents album is awesome. im sure youre gonna end up grabbing that. since i’m newer to your vids i forgot i just heard about your flood. i think convert buddie mentioned it. i had no idea dude. mustve been traumatizing.
Steve, the flood was regrettable but I never let it really bother me, nothing I could do but move forward. I had 12,000 albums and CD and 1/2 million trading cards. Total loss but the VC began having videos and people began sending me music. It was the most amazing thing ever. I couldn’t be sad because of all the love I was getting from others. It was a good experience to show me the love of others. I have a repress of that Adolescent album but I know the vendor well, I hope to snag it Thanks for tuning in Steve
That Pharoah Sander's Karma is a good album. Cool pick up s.
Thanks Dave, Pharoh Sanders scares me a little, he kind of went way out there at times. I was surprised to see it
Wow Descendants in New Alliance is a real grail for me. I was closing in on one but it was well one 3 figures which I just can’t do! Fantastic piece of pop/power pop history there Steve. I think New Alliance was the label set up by Mike Watt & D Boon. I think The Descendants & The Minutemen were all keen fishermen in Pedro..if what I’ve read can be believed!
Harris, it was triple figures. There were two of them there which was really weird. The guy I got it from gave it to me for 1/2 price, I just couldn’t say no to that. Such a fun album that I figured I would never get I did go over my budget by quite a bit sadly but this show had the best rarities selection I have seen. I have such poor will power lol.
Record shows are so tempting. So many records, so little money. :). I over pay at times too. How bad do you want it. I always tell myself, you may never have the opportunity again.
Tony there is a lot to be said about not seeing an album again. I often times jump on it. Of course I then see it the next week cheaper lol
Great choices this time. I am getting ' in November' a KISS deluxe bootleg of the 1974 Lancing show at a place called The Brewery. I think you should do a video of all of your Michigan recorded records .
That’s interesting Martin, not sure how many I have I am working on a video of all the groups with Dead or Death in their names. Perfect for Halloween. That Kiss concert should be interesting Martin, you do find a lot of cool bootlegs
I would have totally grabbed the Joan Jett and Sandy West autographed LP!
That was pretty cool Richard, a number of things I would have liked in those boxes.
Hey Steve. Overpaying happens. I agree that Discogs can be a pain. I love record fairs, mainly the vibe. Cheers.
This one is fun as most vendors know me so I spend most the time catching up on lives. Fun time but expensive this time for me
Great video! Steve, you passed one of my favourite albums ever, David Ackles’ American Gothic…and I think it was a promo copy. If you know the seller, please try to buy it. Trust me. One of the best singer-songwriter ever.
I will have to look at my video again and see who had it. I know all the sellers so I will give American Gothic a listen. A lot of people have been telling me what I missed, I just need some more money lol
Nice showings Steve. Spacemen 3 is rare on vinyl in the UK also. I've never heard Blodwyn Pig though I think John Peel used to play them on his show a lot, and they're one of those cult names. Ummagumma is no classic, but it's one of those rock albums you've just got to have. I remember seeing it in the collection of one of my dad's work colleagues when I was a kid and freaking out over that cover.
In the 70s and 80s Jethro Tull was one of my favorite groups which means I had to start buying other albums that were offshoots. Blodwyn Pig was one of the most important albums I needed. It’s not an expensive album but I did keep the vinyl after the flood. When I look at vinyl I kept after the flood it is kind of weird some of the albums I saved. Thought process is different when that happens I guess.
Must've gotten there at lunch...all I see are dealers stuffing their faces! 🙂
Lol, yes I did , free pizza for dealers. Better deals when they are well fed
Fishing Tip.... Never wear a Red Hat fishing Steve. Fish can see it a mile away.... Boy O Boy have the prices really skyrocketed. Holly Moly.....
Yeah Bobby, inflation caught up with records. So in Nebraska no one catches fish as everyone only wears red! Good to know
Those prices reminded me why I don't go to vinyl shows and flea markets anymore. I picked up Gigi version of that Floyd album for $15 in my flea market days.
I had picked up one for cheap in the 80s. So I over paid for that and guess what came into my local store this week, Gigi cover, unbelievable, happens all the time
Hey Steve
Ann Arbor show is Sunday! I usually try to go since it’s a little over an hour away for me
Being in Kalamazoo I’m about an hour from the shows in GR, South Bend and Lansing and now they’re having one in Benton Harbor so… it’s been hard on the wallet but I’ve found lots of cool stuff
Take care Brian ☮️
Lol Brian, yes it can be. I would like to visit the Ann Arbor show someday I usually don’t go as I tend to spend too much! Big surprise there.
Man, I haven't been to a record fair since 2018...missed the 2019 ones due to scheduling conflicts and then we all know what happened next...don't think the major one in my area has yet returned but it was comparable to this, probably a bit larger. Maybe just as well, it's a lot of temptation to buy more records lol. Fun to get out, enjoy the camaraderie and see a different selection of stuff and sometimes find better deals (but you do have to be careful of overpaying in some situations, especially with rarer items). What's the deal with the Gigi, is it just a cover difference...I have Meddle but just a vintage U.S. pressing of some sort, I'll have to take a closer look at it. Cheers Steve
In the US you only find the ones without Gigi, I just like it Doug lol. It is always fun to go and just visit with people. This is not a large show which is fine with me. I don’t need to spend a ton of time flipping through boxes. I always hit the collectibles and then check on things on my list.
"I want to be stereotyped / I want to be classified"
Lyrics from my favorite Descendents' song. Congratulations on Milo. The album found its rightful home. You and Milo share a look.
And I see what you mean about temptation. You flipped through several albums that I would've been tempted to buy. I've been wanting to get an OG UK pressing of The Damned's The Black Album. It's my favorite album by that band, an opinion I'm guessing is not shared by many. The US pressing has an inferior cover, IMO, and it doesn't include "Curtain Call." That song is like The Damned doing The Doors. Lyrics from "Curtain Call'': "The lizard sheds its skin / Night obliterates the day." Seems like the Lizard King could've written that.
Those Alice Coltrane records would've also been tempting. "Love knows no business / Love knows no bargain." So sayeth Swami Satchidananda on World Galaxy's version of "A Love Supreme." Sounds to me like love isn't a record collector.
But there was a TV show in the 80s that understood us. I remember how its theme song started: "You get a deal here / But you overpay there / You're buying plastic and cardboard everywhere / The facts of record collecting."
Stay groovy.
"I don't want no hippie pad / I want a house just like mom and dad"
I love the lyric from the Descendants, who does want to be classified. That was the most Alice Coltrane I have seen at the show. There was also two Milo albums there. I bought a different one but got a fantastic deal. I can’t say I know much about the Black Album. There was a lot of great albums there, I could have spent so much more. It was a good show though I spent most of my time talking lol
Wow that Runaways signed! 😳
Yeah wasn’t that cool. Too many things and not enough money, store of our life lol
And that guy had pizza plate on top of vinyls!?! And there you have Descendents that became ALL with Chad Price. Guy who I just saw live twice. Nice dude. Felt really feet on ground style guy.
mr. Finglish (Bäd Engish Recs)
That is too funny. I just told you I did not know Chad Price and then, tah dah, he is in the descendants. That is pretty funny. Pizza goes well anywhere Mr Finglish, even on vinyl lol .
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 So you need to check Chad Price. ;)
Oh that JFA album, I want that! Nice video, Steve! Let me know if you still need/want that Flock of Seagulls debut album- I have one for you if you want.
I am still looking for the Flock of Seagulls. I can’t find it anywhere Mike and it use to be all over the place. I was looking at that JFA album but I did not know much about them, just the name. Is it punk?
Mike going wild in the wild. I never owned the Descendants until very recently & yep it's very good. Spaceman 3, pulling out all the bangers Mike. That pig cover 😂 Only have the first Dead Boys. I feel that's all I needed. Am I right? I just got the PF reissues from a few years back, they sound pretty good to me. Nice Mike work Mike. Cheers...Mike
Mike, the the Dead Boys all you really need is the first album. The live one is good but not essential I was excited to see a OG Spacemen 3 I have quite a few of their albums My kind of stuff Mike. Let’s say I did not do well on my $100 budget lol. Furry Mike had to go out and get a job. It’s a bout time
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Furry Mike might communicate this decision by playing Johnny Paycheck’s song “Take This Job & Shove It”
Sorry we didn't make it to the show and see you this time Steve! Didn't really budget for it and it kind of crept up on us. We do hope to see you next time you're up our way. JT
It would have been nice to see you again JT. Last last few trips to TC have been quick, in and out. Hopefully when hotel prices drop I can stay overnight
I want to go to a record show so bad but I’m afraid of what I might do! I know my wife would probably prefer me not go to one so at this juncture I will probably pass still when comes but maybe one day!
I only go to my local show twice a year for that Sam e reason, there would be way too much temptation for me. This one had the most stuff I had wanted, spent too much but no regrets Kendall
I was trying to explain to Judith the odd collector mentality. You can get 100 albums for an amazing price or even free but if you overpay for one album, it niggles at you. Every time you see that records, it reminds you of how much extra you paid for it.
Lol so true Darrell. We remember that one and I also remember that vendor. We love a bargain, but we don’t forget getting screwed lol
My suggestion is never look at the discogs price, and then you never have to worry if you over/under paid.
Lol Kris, I guess that makes perfect sense
great to see more record gouging out there. these people are high with their prices on some of these. give me a brake.
Jeff, it is getting tough. I was lucky on my big purchases to get some very good deals but still over paid on a different album. On my podcast with Jim Gleason this week we talked about some of the crazy prices on reissues. Thanks for watching Jeff
Hey! Camera! Records! Is that Steve Carlson the record guy???
I probably woulda forked over $100 for the UK copy of Pink Flag. Even for doubles.
I have an OG of Pink Flag otherwise I would have grabbed that. I know most of the people at the record store so I spend most my time talking. There were two OG Descendants album which was crazy
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 definitely looks like you had plenty of options! Very pricey tables!!!!
