  • I have had many other brand ATVs and SXSs over the years and I have to say that this car has been bullet proof for the last 5000 miles, mods include Graves tune and header, Alba air box spacer, Alba 6 spring pressure plate and clutch, rackzilla quick ratio steering rack, S&B particle separator, Double E Racing rear sway bar, Beard suspension seat with PRP 5 point harness, custom metal works tailgate and sun visor.

    Liked your "Real Man" comment! I first saw the YXZ in September of 2015. Saw the shocks sticking through the hood, three pedals and triple cylinder and that was it, I had to have one. Never really liked the whole belt thing, one gear like the mini bike I learned on. I would like to try one with the paddles though just to see what it's like, maybe buy a second one so that anybody could drive it. Did a lot of upgrades but the no turbo. Man I love it! Great video! Subbed!

      Yeah I think the YXZ is the best sxs for a person that likes to drive like myself, it's a driver's car for sure! it's been a great car too, I'm at 8000 miles now with still zero issues, I just currently purchased a new Ford Bronco late last year and it's a manual lol!

    Super clean car especially for 5k!! I have the 19 SS SE and love it! Only suggestion I see is to gusset your cage or go after market! My son rolled ours low speed, at 200 miles on the odometer, and upper cage was toast! I put a Houser Cage on it and then my best friend rolled it again and it’s still perfect! No one drives it, but me now! I put the full titanium Graves exhaust and tune on mine as well! What a difference!! For NA they are exceptionally fast!!! Never gonna beat a turbo in a straight drag but YXZ power is much more usable if you know how to drive! Great vid! Thanks!

      I completely agree with you on the cage, I had a 2016 with a cage WRX cage and unfortunately crashed the car being stupid and totalled it out but the cage held up with a slight bend, after that I got the 2018 and installed the 2019 cage, I wanted to go aftermarket but since the wreck in the other car I slowed down a little and pay a little more attention lol! My plan is to keep this car for around my property and get a second YXZ to build out with a good cage so when I wanna get stupid again I'll have the piece of mind having a good cage, but you are right about the performance of the YXZ, people that haven't ever driven one don't know, I have drove my friends Polaris PRO on the turbo track at Durham Town George and I'm faster in my YXZ, guess I just know my car better, the power of the YXZ is more usable in every situation, big power turbo cars are a waist of power unless you are at the sand dunes all the time in my opinion.

    I love your ride. The mods look great. You know your stuff. How would you compare it too the Honda cart?

    Awesome review! I'm sadly not a real man I have a 19 SS SE, but I love it. 2000 miles and no issues. I think if they'd have come out with the 19 version originally (3 paddle or SS) it would be a lot more popular.

      Every thing I've seen and read say it's either the best smoothest best suspension, most well balanced sxs out there or it's a total piece of crap

      @@danietkissenle Lol, you’re right! We own a few of them and I personally put 5000 miles on one. They all have been excellent machines even the one that’s been turbo charged since it was new.

      @@danietkissenle I love the yxz but suspension wise it is not the baddest out there due to the a-arm style trailing arms. Would still buy one though🤙

    I was turboed and went back NA. Viper 1050cc. Its a blast! 4600miles. Ive broke nothing other then when i tried to use nitrous and i over jetted it, hence the reason of the 1050cc engine build haha

    Guess I'm not a real man. But I love my paddle shift. Lol. Another good update you could do would be the 19+ gearing. If your savy enough to tear the trans apart I believe it's only four years you have to swap out. I've owned both now and the difference will blow your mind

    • @gregc9220
      @gregc9220  3 роки тому

      A friend of mine had a paddle shift 2017 and I didn't like it, if the paddles would move with the steering wheel I may like it then but I find the stick shift car to me is just more fun and challenging when on the trails, now the 2019 gearing yes I would like to have.

    Thinking about getting a SxS. Need it to pull a small trailer through the week with hay on and on the weekends go nuts on the trails. Been looking at RZR's and can-ams. Found one of these Yamahas (2018) but bought new in 2020 with only 6.9hrs on it ! from a dealer here in New Zealand (20,000 NZD$ = 13.600 USD. Worth it ?. Im a manual car driver but not sure on a manual atv. Whats your take ?. We have tracks but prob would never get to go beyond 60mph on them at best.

    • @gregc9220
      @gregc9220  2 роки тому

      Well that sounds like a really good deal! But the 2016-2018 YXZ has a higher first gear, the 2019 and up Yamaha changed the gearing in the transmission lowering the gear ratios making it easier for crawling because the engine in the YXZ doesn't have good low end torque, it's a high revving high RPM engine, also the problem is a YXZ doesn't have a trailer hitch so one would have to be installed, a Polaris or can an would be more suited for pulling a small trailer because they are a CVT automatic transmission but they won't be as much fun on the trails in my opinion, the YXZ is definitely a driver's car.

    What is your opinion about a lighter flywheel ? Does it make sence? Or will it have cons ?

    • @gregc9220
      @gregc9220  2 роки тому

      Depends on the terrain you ride I have both, I install the light fly wheel when I go to the dunes and high-speed trail and I install the heavy flywheel when I go to places like Tennessee and Arkansas riding slower rocky trails, but a light flywheel really lets the engine rev up quicker and the heavier flywheel allows for more slow speed control.

    What do you use on your plastic to keep it looking so shiny?

    • @gregc9220
      @gregc9220  2 роки тому +1

      Honestly nothing special, I keep it washed good and use a turtle wax ceramic spray on it.

    • @gregc9220
      @gregc9220  Рік тому

      Nothing special I just put it between center of the control arm mounts and kind of put it towards the bottom of the tubing makes it easy to cut off if I ever have to pull the diff.

    Have you had to change your clutch in that 5000 miles?

    • @gregc9220
      @gregc9220  3 роки тому +1

      No, I replaced it at 3000 miles only as a precaution and to see what the clutch look like, so far I'm now at 5500 miles and still going strong, I'm not going to replace it again until I feel it slip, the old clutch was still good.
