Nice of you to promote the new shop. Wish them all the best. Box file community layouts, what a great idea…… and not a rant in sight this week. Watched twice in case I missed it picking up my biscuits lol
You do realize that most Gen Z's will be asking, what's a box file? Looking forward to what you and Zoe come up with. Kato does some really good and cheap locos and sets which helps folks get into it. I vote for you to spray the outside Barbie pink again just to raise the odd eyebrow. Cheers!
Get involved is admirable Craig and Zoe! Best wishes for the whole community project and I look forward to learning how it progresses on your channels, for those of us who don’t use FB. Currently I have my hands full building my own layout so I will follow with interest. BW Andy
Great video Craig, and this is a fab idea! Somebody mentioned Scalescenes in the thread, they do some great super cheap N Scale kits, so we can have a little modelling fun. I also have a couple of N Gauge US Boxcars that I've been wanting to weather, so I definitely see an idea coming together! Might even invest in one of those Kato steeple cab locos that the Budget Model Railway guys are raving about!
Nice video Craig, the guys at Burnley look to have a tidy little operation on the go. Box file modular sections have seen a good uptake in recent years. look forward to seeing what you come up with.
A great idea Craig and Zoe. I'm up for it with loads of ideas spinning around at the moment. It would be useful to re-state the dmensions for the side wall openings and the track centres at each end.
So long as they're about central and big enough for a loco to get through that should be good enough mate - don't panic too much ☺️☺️ just get creative and get involved! We really want to prove to folks how good these little layouts can be!❤️
Hi Craig. Rising Fisheries: I wish them all the luck with their business, but I worry about their security with all their stock (especially the locos and train sets). Disguised point motor: Did you make any provision for maintenance without having to destroy the scenery to gain access? Box file module: I wholly applaud your intention to encourage people to engage with the hobby and like the idea of the community project where members of the project can meet up and join their modules together. What worries me a little is that your module didn't *appear* to be self-contained as well as being a component of the project. People may say that members would design their own track plan within the box file, but I think it would have been beneficial if your demonstration layout had been self-contained. Discuss!
Excellent initiative with the box files. I do have my reservation about the suggested connection from box to box. That is very fragile for exhibitions. I can see some tracks already ripped off, connectors bent, stuff like that. Accidentally moving these light boxes will be very likely at events.
It's something we've thought a bit about, for now we will see just now big it actually gets! Care will of course be taken when operating them, and there's nothing stopping us from making several smaller Layouts linked together at a time either ☺️ - please, get involved!
intestering project indeed. But a cardboard box will probably warp a lot when you add some glue and paint to it. Maybe it would be a good idea to add some plywood to the ground of that box, with the same thickness in all the boxes ? wish you good luck !
wow that was a fast answer. Yes i understand that, you could try a technique used by people using watercolours, they paint both sides of the cardboard, that way it doesn't warp,@@IronHorseRailways

Brilliant video Iron Horse Railways 🙂🙂
I love the idea of building a layout in a small box. :)
Then join us! 😁

You could have a mainline going end to end with a single siding to an industry, with the box vans sat festering ❤️😀
@@IronHorseRailways Yeh love this, I've always wanted to do an overgrown siding!

Nice update and like to see the Box File layout

Again, we're trying to keep it SIMPLE and straight forward mate, yes slight warping might be a concern, so far it hasn't happened.

Bollywollocks, my new favourite word :)
It's a fine word lad, you should use it!
Scalescenes do a couple of box file scenes that could be adapted. These would be good to use if you do a 009 section.
Did I miss something as I did not hear where the new model shop is situated or its name so as much as I might want to visit it would not be possible?
Address is in the description mate 😀
How come everyone is suddenly starting group and modular layouts? Weird coincidence…
Are they?

No . Far too restrictive and therefore not interesting to operate
Booo!!😂
