I haven't played the game but all the video game footage tells me the realistic scenario is throwing ball after ball only for every ball to land just slightly short of the Pokemon.
Too funny, it does feel a bit violent at times, but I’ve noticed there is a barrier animation that the ball hits before it hits the Pokémon. Like a polygon of sorts. Not sure if that’s just for the animation effect or a part of the lore.

A crucial part of the Legends Arceus experience is staying up until 3:00 AM on a school night due to addiction.
That’s why I’m here at this hour.

All the villagers working at the pasture are probably wondering why every Pokémon they get has a concussion.
God I love small details in videos. Like how the grass shakes when they throw the ball. You did not have to put that in there but it's appreciated.
*WHO IS HIDING IN THE GRASS NOW MATHERFU...*
I honestly expected Shinx to randomly do a full 180° last second so it wasn't a back strike and it didn't catch.
Here's my experience:
I throw a ball clearly at the back but it doesn't register as the back or the pokemon turns around at last second
And then it escapes, and gets really mad?

I saw a shiny shinx and I whipped out a heavy ball and a ball of mud and pelted that boy. He's now level 62 and has never ever left my team
