I married the month following high school graduation. We have 2 sons, 9 grands, and 5 greats! My wonderful husband passed 6 yrs ago. We were married 53 yrs. Got to attend our 50 th class reunion. I’ve moved and downsized and miss him so much. But I believe we will be reunited in eternity. I’ve been blessed and try to stay humble.
I married and had children very young and I never finished my education. As a result, Iived for many years as an abused and neglected wife, staying only because I could not provide my children the things I felt they needed. But I'll tell you one thing I was smart enough to do right! I pushed my daughter to do well in school. I taught her that she was a gift and should not be tossed aside for any reason. And best of all, I watched my little girl earn a master's degree. She's married to a great guy and they've been together for 21 yrs now. She stays though because she's still in love. Not because she has to in order to feed her kids! No woman should be dependent upon a man for the basics. Maybe I wasn't such a dummy after all. It may have been late in the game, but I learned! Boy oh boy, did I learn!

My grandmother and mother in the 30s and the 60s also worked to provide. My grandmother always had a job. They never divorced, they loved each other. No woman in my family ever let a man provide. And all my sisters are married to the same man for years. Their husbands have MAD respect for them. Because they went into marriage always knowing they better keep a job, and take care of the kids. And they did. Sorry for your situation but based on my own observation, It's bullshit
Terri Garcia I agree with one of the other comments, you should tell your story whenever the opportunity arises. A handful of clueless females will talk crap about you, but those of us who aren't jerks can see what a strong woman you are. It takes a strong woman to put up with the kind of crap you did for all those years and still teach your daughter what a precious gift she is. Staying is not weakness. Sometimes staying is doing what you have to do to survive. It all depends on a million different circumstances & nobody's circumstances are exactly alike. 1:11:23 - FAVORITE LINE: "Mom's gone nuts!" young son. "In what sense?" older son.
One of those true stories - all the more impressive.
If the husband didn't want to be bothered with the kids and wife, he could have at least said so. Why trick them into traveling all the way to Australia to ditch them. He could have ditched them in the states. WTF?
A real coward ,no real man would do this.
happened to my cousin Helet her sell the house Pack everything in a U Haul She drove alone to Houston from Calfary When she got there He wasnt home But a Process server was [[divorce papers]] He [husband] Never talked to her What Lowlife behaviour
My folks and I moved from South Africa to America in the 70's. It was a terrible cultural shock for me. The school system is totally different from South Africa. Thank goodness my mom, and I came back before my dad. He joined us months later. My mom struggled to provide for me in my dad's absence. Shame, bless her heart, she did her best for me.😢 Very sad story
This is a must watch
I've never seen any of these movies that linda played in the only thing I've seen her in was Alice and It was my favorite show I still love the reruns .
Thank you
Great story! Thank you.
Wow! What a great true story.
What a wonderful true event !! Loved the ending !
She ended up in a Cloistered Convent. In my book, that's not a happy ending lol

I loved this movie⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was a kid when I saw this movie back then. I realize now that the father had planned to get rid of his family all along. He clearly wanted no part of it anymore.
Right, he was a piece of garbage and a coward!
Great movie. Very inspiring.

That parasite does not deserve to be called a man or a husband or a father. Does nothing and knows nothing, but bosses everyone around. Kudos to the woman and children who succeeded against all odds.
The husband is a jerk
Love Linda Lavin very talented
Good movie. Thanks for sharing this ❤
Magnificent Linda 😍💙🌟
I would be dead if I would have stayed with my abusive husband. I was blessed to have 3 years of college behind me and worked hard to finish. I also started a housecleaning business with my 2 daughters that added on nannying and dogsitting their kids and dogs. It paid for them to go to college and become nurses with their BSNs. It wasn't easy, but we did it.
My father has always had a crush on Linda Lavin while we were growing up.
